Goat Curry at Shadman is really good, excellent actually. I have to try Nicoles for comparison

Def the curry goat at Nicole's. So good. I can see it as one of those places that newbies are afraid to walk into, let alone try.

I tried Lee Sims for some holiday chocolates... OMG... we got salted caramels, raspberry jellies and coconut clusters... amazing. And fantastic quality for the price.

I'm sorry folks but there are to my experience 4 must have eats in JC that you can't get anywhere else 1. Monteleones , (There's a reason there is a line outside of the bakery during the holidays) 2. Lee Sims ( If you don't know what it is , your not JC) 3. The mustard /custard that the Astor Bar makes for St. Pat's cornbeef . 4. A burger at the Park Tavern , it may not be the worlds best but in JC in that bar it's the best I've had. Honourable mention , the orange drink at Blvd Drinks. Sorry Louie, Casa Dante's was better.

For a tasty $2 taco I'll put up with quite a lot.

(I've been there several dozen times with no issue but YMMV)

yeah I don't know how I omitted that, their tacos are the best.

A couple more I was reminded of:
Max's of Manila - good fried chicken and kare kare
Phillipine Bread House - also good, cheap Filipino fare.
Monmouth St Deli - our neighbor and absolutely fantastic sandwiches.

The Kitchen at Grove Station http://www.grovestationkitchen.com
299 Marin Blvd, on the back side of that big office bldg

The food is delicious (brunch: grits, pork belly sandwich, almond croissant).
The decor is cozy, casual, and hip (amazing transformation in what was probably a very sterile environment before).
The service is outstanding - they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, attended to, and completely satisfied with our experience.

I love everything about this place and will be taking many, many meals here in the future!

It seems like they've gotten friendlier the last couple years. The person who threw a soda can at me when I (politely!) pointed out I'd paid for a drink and not gotten it with my order doesn't seem to work there anymore.

I have a few..

Gale's Soul Food Restaurant
438 Ocean Ave
Jersey City, NJ 07305

The Red Devil's Food Cake, its so good, and the slices are huge. These slices are enough for two people.

Morgan Fish Market & Restaurant
2801 Kennedy Boulevard #1215
Jersey City, NJ 07306

I ate here twice within the last two months and each time Fantastic!! The BBQ fish and the fried fish are incredible.

Neptune Bakery & Deli
1612 John F Kennedy Blvd
Jersey City, NJ 07305

The custard cups are delicious!

Sweet Asia
456 West Side Ave
Jersey City, NJ 07304

Some of the best Samosa and Siomai in JC

And another vote for Saigon Cafe
188 Newark Ave
Jersey City, NJ 07302

Every dish I have tried here was pretty amazing.

For the chocolate lovers, Fischer Confections
205 Martin Luther King Jr Dr
Jersey City, NJ 07305

All hand made, this is a gem in this city.

?The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook.? Happy Eating!

Many places have been covered, but I?ll throw a curveball in with... the bar pie at Astor Bar for lunch.

I happen to also like Olala Empanadas.
