Why are you using a divisive label like, "African American" aka a "politically correct" term, yet fail to call "white people" European Americans? It's special treatment and kid glove handling like this that makes black Americans think they can get away with assaulting random strangers. Were they really born in Africa and then immigrated to America? If not, then they are Americans. Stop using that divisive term. It's ridiculous.

Personally, I find the timing of all this a little too coincidental. Stop & Frisk, Shop & Frisk and anything else that disparately impacts people of color being questioned, invalidated, DeBlasio wins and all the right wing people scream the sky is falling and Drudge Report like, "Bloomberg's legacy will be ruined because scary black and latino people are going to be like 'Warriors come out to playeee" and this just entrenches a police state that sort of ignores white criminality. http://www.blogforarizona.com/blog/20 ... redators-and-prisons.html

I was assaulted by five african american youths, about 15 years ago in Harlem. Knockout? They tried. Gang assault? Definitely.
I was on a street corner on my way home in a not-so-good part of town. Sadly, as one of the only white people in a many-block radius, I had been assaulted and verbally harassed on many occasions prior... So, I'm stading there waitinf for the light to change, and I was holding a bass amp. Heavy and awkward, and in both hands. I heard the guys come up behind me and they started saying "Roll this cracker" and "#OOPS# this honky" and "White ass bitch" and just about everything you could think of. Then came the sucker punch from behind me on the right side... He got me square in the jaw and really rung my bell. He smashed one of my teeth (still missing to this day because really, who can afford dental insurance!)... I didn't fall down, and I didn't drop the amp. I turned around to face them and they all started laughing and hooting and yelling. I looked them all up and down and tried to figure out what to do. I didn't want to show weakness, because they may very well kill me. So, I eyeballed the kid who hit me, spat my broken tooth at him, and said quietly and calmly "I'm going to put this down, and if you're all standing here when I'm done, I will kill you all". This started more hooting and hollering "Oh shit! White boy is fucking crazy!" and similar things. So, I repeated it again, and slowly started turning to put it down next to me, and be able to get off at least one punch before they beat me, and as I did, they must've realize that if I was crazy enough to threaten a 5 to 1 situation, then maybe I had a gun or something, and they all took off. Thank god they did. I was shaking and walked to the precinct that was literally about 100 yards away. Swollen cheek, bloody mouth, and missing took. I told the desk sergeant what happened and that I wanted to report a racial attack. He laughed and said "Not here you won't". This was before hate crimes became anything to talk about. I told him he was a douchebag and left. Was this an attempt at "knockout"? Basically. But it was a mugging and attempted theft as well...

Six knockout attacks in a few days in New Haven alone. I'm sure it wasn't Yale students doing the attacks.

Seems to me like the appropriate response to this sort of attack is Hammurabi's Code. If a victim is not confident in their ability, they would then choose from a pool of qualified specialists. It would probably make many of the attacks stop, if not it would make great tv at least.

"Republican state Assemblyman Jim Tedisco has proposed a bill that would classify the knockout game attacks as gang assaults, and would require that youths who participate in such attacks be tried as adults, facing prison terms of up to 25 years.
"These twisted and cowardly thugs are preying on innocent bystanders and they don't care if the victims are young, old, a man or woman," Tedisco told The Associated Press when he announced the bill. "Life isn't a video game. These are real people whose lives are not only being put in jeopardy but in many cases destroyed." In response to the latest attack in Brooklyn, New York City Councilman David Greenfield told ABC station WABC-TV in New York that officials should send a message of "zero tolerance." "That's why I called on the NYPD and District Attorney's Office to literally throw the book at these individuals and to charge them with many crimes, including hate crimes and gang assault, because that's what it is," Greenfield said." And where are New Jersey politicians? It is their damn job to protect the public.

I actually think it's more of how a person dresses/interacts with others rather than the color of their skin/ethnicity. If a group of asians wore their pants from the mid thigh area down and wore xl t-shirts when a mediem sized tshirt would do, I would not venture their way either. If they were calling each the n-word and cursing at each other, I would also not venture down their way... if a group of african americans were in suits walking towards me and talking about visiting each other in theur luxury condos, I would pass them. So in closing, the way you dress and talk to others matter..

http://news.yahoo.com/knockout-game-s ... -abc-news-topstories.html
The Brooklyn, N.Y., man accused of assaulting an Orthodox Jew in what appears to be another case of the knockout game is being charged with a hate crime for the alleged attack. Related StoriesAmrit Marajh, 28, was charged with harassment as a hate crime after he allegedly punched the 24-year-old Orthodox Jewish man Friday morning. The unidentified victim believes he was attacked as part of the deadly "knockout" game, where an attacker aims to knock out the victim with a single sucker punch, police said. The violent game has been linked to assault reports in at least six states, and three people have been killed in suspected knockout attacks. The unidentified Brooklyn victim said he was walking home early Friday morning in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn when he was assaulted and heard his alleged attackers daring each other to punch him out minutes before one actually assaulted him, according to police. He said there was no question that the game was the motive for the attack, New York Police Department Commissioner Ray Kelly said. "He makes a statement that he was punched in the side of the face," Kelly said. "He also makes a statement that just prior to it they were talking about the 'Knockout Game'." New York City police arrested four men Friday in connection with the alleged sucker-punching. Only Marajh was charged, however, and the other three were released. Teens in Beating Case Tried as Adults In response to at least eight attacks in the past few weeks, police have stepped up patrols in several Brooklyn neighborhoods where many Jewish people, the latest New York victim among them, have been the targeted. Two weeks ago, a 78-year-old Jewish woman in Brooklyn was punched in the face by teens while walking down her street, prompting an investigation by the NYPD Hate Crimes Taskforce and leading a New York lawmaker to call for harsher penalties for so-called knockout game players. The woman's daughter, who wanted to remain anonymous, told "Good Morning America" that she found the violence senseless. "Someone wanted to inflict pain onto someone else," the woman said. "No other purpose." Republican state Assemblyman Jim Tedisco has proposed a bill that would classify the knockout game attacks as gang assaults, and would require that youths who participate in such attacks be tried as adults, facing prison terms of up to 25 years. "These twisted and cowardly thugs are preying on innocent bystanders and they don't care if the victims are young, old, a man or woman," Tedisco told The Associated Press when he announced the bill. "Life isn't a video game. These are real people whose lives are not only being put in jeopardy but in many cases destroyed." In response to the latest attack in Brooklyn, New York City Councilman David Greenfield told ABC station WABC-TV in New York that officials should send a message of "zero tolerance." "That's why I called on the NYPD and District Attorney's Office to literally throw the book at these individuals and to charge them with many crimes, including hate crimes and gang assault, because that's what it is," Greenfield said. In spite of increased police crackdowns on the alleged perpetrators, the dangerous game appears to be spreading further throughout the country. One unidentified Denver man told ABC News affiliate KMGH-TV in Denver that he was sucker-punched when leaving a bar, which would make him one of the first people in that city to be a victim of the "knockout" game. In Washington, two people were randomly punched in separate incidents but suffered only minor injuries and did not lose consciousness, while two similar assaults in Philadelphia also have police on alert. In September, Ralph Santiago, 46, of Hoboken, N.J., died from injuries resulting from a suspected knockout attack that sent him careering backward into a fence, where his head got lodged. Three teens -- two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old -- have been charged with murder. Troubled Teens Endure Wilderness Therapy In late May, two teenagers admitted to fatally beating and killing a man in Syracuse, N.Y. They admitted that the attack began with the intention of knocking out the victim, Michael Daniels, with a single blow. Both teens, 16 and 13, were sentenced to 18 months in jail. And earlier in May, Elex Murphy, now 20, was sentenced to life in prison plus 25 years in St. Louis for killing a Vietnamese immigrant as part the game in 2011. Surveillance footage has also gone viral of another attack from 2012, in which a 50-year-old Pittsburgh, Pa., English teacher named James Addlespurger is struck and falls limply to the curb. Experts say the violent acts appear to be driven in part by a pack mentality and peer pressure put on the perpetrators. "These kids have effectively de-humanized others," Former FBI special agent Brad Garrett told ABC News. "They are being drastically influenced by the groups to commit the acts."

Hate crimes? Don't know. What these motivates kids to behave criminally stupid is best determined on a case-by-case basis. However, "see no evil" isn't the right response. Not widely reported, but Sharpton's response was on point:

Ya know, I can't stand white racists (like the guy in this thread who called the mayor of New York a "wigger"), but it's also true that for many in the black community, black Americans can do no wrong. (It's either a conspiracy or someone else is to blame.) And it's also true that they've grown up in a culture where white Americans are the enemy. So you have to wonder if these politicians are politically motivated. After all, s few votes can swing a local election.

The news had Hoboken. Hoboken is predominantly white neighborhoods. Looks like racist to me.
On the video it captured black teens jumping over turnstiles after knockingout their victim. Black teens most likely took the lightrail from the hoods in Greenville to get to Hoboken and do their knockout games.

NYDaily News is saying a NY Congresswoman Cheng might've been a victim of the Knockout Game in DC last week.
She was knocked on the head and blacked out for a second. She said she doesn't recall what happened. I dont know if they had takened anything of hers.

The police calling knockout a myth is just avoid media attention. Knockout is about 15 years or so old. Its spread started with trying to copy the haymaker punch in the video game Knockout Kings and spread even more when the movie Baby Boy showed the "one hitter quitter" scene. The street kids would get bored and try to see if they could knockout random victims. It is mostly random but soft targets are chosen most often such as crack heads, dope fiends, homeless people, immigrants, other teens etc. They usually are chosen more because they are less likely to call police. Then you have more extreme groups that will attack anyone no matter age or sex and don't care if the target will call the police. The media never called it knockout in the past they called them wolfpack attacks and the majority of cases reported never made the paper unless a robbery or weapon was used. That's what makes it hard to track, they could intend to play knockout and then it becomes a robbery when the after thought is to look for money but the attack is the motive not the money.

I had an attempt of sorts on me last week. I was cycling up Dickinson Hill on Newark Ave, when one of three teenagers suddenly came off the sidewalk and tried pushing my bike over towards the center of the street (while cars were passing me). Reflexively and somewhat uncharacteristically lightning fast for me, I put my sidewalk-side, right hand/fist out. He didn't make contact with my bike but with my hand, I'm not sure with what body part, but I'm guessing he was more hurt than me. Ran off laughing...
I cycled up a few more seconds than turned around and yelled, but there was nothing to do, nobody to pursue. He looked about 15. FWIW, I'm 41 and not large but not small. I guess I must have looked dorky as I was cycling with a helmet on. Also a slow (uphill) cyclist is a pretty easy target. He cried out something as he lashed out, but I could not make out the words.

I'm sorry but don't believe the lies that the knockout game is a myth. I have a feeling that the same people perpetuating that lie are very much against stop and frisk and are engaging in a PR battle that denies reality.
The other day there were 3 more knockout attacks reported in Philadelphia. "The only apparent motive in these attacks, as in all ?Knockout? attacks, is to inflict injury on a random victim." http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2013 ... ted-in-philadelphia-area/ And the other day one of the kids who played the knockout game got shot by his victim and ended up in the hospital. He gave an interview to the news, so why not watch his interview and then see if you believe the NY Times' insistence that he doesn't exist? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzptOuQ0M9U
