no one is dismissing the significance that a woman was violated. we are dismissing that this incident has any relevance to transgender. because it doesn't. you're grasping for straws here.

what is hilarious about this thread is that OP posted an article that had nothing to do with a transgender person in a woman's space and used it somehow as a reason that transgender people should have rights restricted. a man who identified as a man and dressed as a man was creeping in a ladies dressing room.... which is something men have done from time to time, this certainly isn't the first time something like this has happened... so exactly how is this a conversation about transgender and how do you not understand the difference? cause how one logically gets from a to b (b being your asinine argument "allowing transgenders in women's spaces opens the door to men in general") is absurd. the issue in this article is that there was a creepy man in a ladies dressing room. focus.

also your subject says "woman filed as HE undressed"... but the person filmed was a female human who identified as a woman so it seems you misunderstand basic use of pronouns too.

if you expect to *safely* be able to run 26.2 miles, sure anyone can do it - but not without proper training. and training is no joke and should be taken seriously. its too easy to injure yourself otherwise. just don't diminish the effort.

i dont know anything about biking long distances, only running them. training for a marathon is a 12-16 week commitment.

as a tenant of an old building (just around the corner from this fire too!), this terrifies me as well! it's a looming fear of mine too because i know the electrical in our house is rickety at best. i dont know what else i can do but make sure our smoke alarms are installed, powered, and working properly. o_o

@jc_dweller - because it's a free forum and i felt like posting it. good luck figuring out concrete solutions/warning signals next time a drive-by incident like this happens to you too. maybe someone else can relate to my experience or maybe this douche b yelled at more than one person like this yesterday or in the past and one of them reads this forum too. it's a conversation i'd like to have if it did - so i posted.

@jmcee - you might be right, i used to live in hoboken too and yeah typically scum i ran into were often not residents of hoboken (not that i went around asking every douche bag that approached me where he paid rent)... but that doesnt mean they dont flock to hoboken for some reason. i left over 7 years ago, but i have not once experienced the harassment in jc that i did/do in hoboken. the day i start to, i will peace out just like i peaced out of hobroken.

@alexc - i do wish i had my phone ready to record the incident for exactly that reason, but i was caught off guard and phone was in my arm band. :( i wish i thought quicker on my feet, but i just flipped the guy the bird and then spent the rest of my run home stewing about what i should have done/said.

Hoboken keepin' it classy per usual...

Off for a Sunday AM jog this morning - some meet for breakfast/brunch on sunday morning, some attend church, some stay in bed late - I was ambitious and attempted 9 miles.

A little over halfway through my run, and yes I made the mistake of running along the waterfront in hoboken (hoBROken as i like to call it) for the latter half, and while I stopped for a second to drink water, some fuckboy in an SUV hung out the window (of his best friend's ride) and hollered at me:

"Hey YOU, I would totally fuck you in the ass. YAH, YOU! I SAID, I would FUCK YOU in the ass." Then proceeded to make what I can only guess were sex noises (god help any woman he ever dupes into having sex with him - vom).

Nice, dude. Making your mom and all of Hoboken for that matter proud, on this otherwise lovely sunday morning.

Also - if there is anyone who doesnt think street harassment is a thing, I present you exhibit A.

yowza wurst bar! there's a bar near my hometown of ann arbor called the wurst bar and i used to dream of franchising it out here cause i thought it would do well in jc. someone beat me to it (not franchised obviously, but still a similar idea).

http://wurstbarypsi.com/

i hope they do well! too bad they won't have michigan beer though.

park & 6

I went over the weekend, $20 brunch special - includes entree & 2 brunch cocktails. i had the spinach and egg and it was phenomenal. and 2 greyhounds which were delightful for such a hot summer day. they've definitely stepped up their game in the new location.

yeah srsly, i did the same thing once, not that long ago - two trips, one to shop rite, and one to the mall. left my car there not even for 45 minutes, and it was gone when i came back.

also a scarring experience, and will never happen to me again either (but mostly in part because i refuse to give that shop rite my business anymore).

Re: Raval tapas place

my impression of raval:

cocktails - good, strong, a little pricey
tapas - okay, expensive
rationes - mediocre, expensive, not enough food.

we were told paella was meant for 2 people to share, but even after sharing 4-5 tapas, the paella still left us hungry (and in total $150 poorer).

dress code? lame. no one gave me a hard time (pretty sure i was wearing converse sneakers), but i tend to avoid places that have a dress code, so noted for the future.

all in all, i wouldn't say it was a bad experience, but i am certainly not dying to revisit the place.

if i did go back, it wouldn't be for the food. it was way too expensive for what it was, and leaving hungry after ordering like 5 or 6 food items and spending $150 is not for me. i would go again after having eaten, and maybe just order 1 or 2 tapas to share, and try another cocktail.

Dear PATH -

I am going to send you a bill for the hours of my life you've wasted and the fares I have paid that have NOT resulted in getting me to my destination.

I estimate you owe me thousands.

And solely because of PATH, I cannot wait to move. >:o

Anyone that thinks MTA is as bad as PATH is on drugs.

anybody else noticing an influx of parking tix?
#26

been parking in JC for a long while now, up until 2 weeks ago never received a parking ticket and my parking behavior hasn't changed (nor has anyone else's that i can tell at least), but in the last 2 weeks I've received 2 tickets for 2 different things - one was parking in a "no standing" zone which i've parked in hundreds of times and never even knew it was a "no standing" spot, and the other was parking less than 25 away from a crosswalk. i wasn't even really near the crosswalk, yes probably was 25 feet from it though, but didn't realize that was a thing (nor did literally anyone else in JC since.. uh.. sometimes people park IN the crosswalk).

anyway, just seemed peculiar to me so i was wondering if anyone else is noticing this too and maybe something's up with parking authority, or maybe i've just been getting lucky all of these years avoiding tickets.

i went for brunch the weekend it opened.

they did not serve coffee or eggs. :(

i ordered something that was advertised as "eggs, potatoes, and peppers". it was a potato hash that was served on a giant roll. driest thing i've ever tasted and i did not expect a sandwich based on the description i read (and the fact it was listed under "plates").

they felt bad cause i complained and brought out some kind of egg scramble instead, which was delicious.

they should take that misadvertised sandwich thing off the menu cause it was awful and i can't imagine anyone actually enjoying that.

i'll try this place again in like 3-4 months. they weren't quite there yet, but i imagine they will be soon. the space has some definite potential so i'd love to see them succeed.

Cant say i am partiularly sad to see the merchant go. The last few times I was there the food was terrible, service even worse, and the glasses were dirty. Park & 6 will be great in that location and i hope they will keep the bar open after the kitchen closes.

Now i am just wondering what will go into the original park & 6th location! Hopefully something great.
