Major beef with Paradise...Watch what you're being charged. The menu/price list on the wall is "very old." Seems like everything is $1 or $2 more and priced at the whim of the guy working the register.

I'm sorry but there is no way Paradise deli is making good sandwiches- I've seen so many roaches in that place I won't even buy toilet paper from there anymore. Walk the few blocks to Wonder Bagels or Second Street for decent breakfast sandwiches.

Wonder Bagel - best bagels around, sandwich innards good enough.
30 Acres - for sit-down, the grilled pork shoulder/cheese with egg on top is pretty bomb. they serve the best brunch for my taste.
2nd St - I thought they only did ham for meat, will try the sausage. It's a damn good sandwich on the shorter (better for sandwiches, imo) roll/loaf.
La Conguita - not on the menu, but they'll do a bacon/egg/cheese which I get on weekends sometimes. it's big, scrambled w/ american and deep fried bacon.

This has been a great thread!

I tried Paradise's sammy - very good and I could see he was making it all from scratch. I thought the flavor of it was good (good amount of pepper per an original point). I still think 7th Street's eggs were better.

Any other suggestions? I love finds like Paradise that I otherwise wouldn't have tried.

After seeing this thread last week, I decided to try out 2nd St Bakery's breakfast. I've gotten regular Italian sandwiches for lunch here over the years, but after trying their egg sandwich yesterday, I almost felt ashamed that I hadn't given their breakfast a try before.

First of all, the cinnamon bread is ridiculously good. Nothing at all like a sticky, icing loaded cinnabon roll. No icing at all, just cinnamon and sugar swirled throughout delicious bread. And their egg sandwiches - I got the spicy Italian sausage with provolone - were amazing. Real eggs, cooked perfectly, and of course their amazing bread. I almost wanted to get peppers and potatoes on it too, but that will be another time when I'm not gorging myself on the cinnamon bread beforehand.

Downtown Wonder Bagel's egg sandwiches used to be good up to about three years ago, when suddenly they all went to hell; the eggs now seem to be microwaved as they taste rubbery and horrible.

The delicatessen on 7th and Erie Street is good as others have said, it's owned by a Korean man called James.

Robin.

Tried Two Aprons today. Definitely a great sandwich in terms of fresh eggs and roll. Limited choice of meat though (turkey bacon) and I guess I need to manage my own condiments - they put way too much ketchup and not enough pepper.

Hands Down--WonderBagel. DT on Jersey Ave, Sip and 1&9, and Danforth and 440. You cant beat real eggs, bacon/ham/sausage on a fresh bagel probably less than an hour out of the oven. They grill everything, no "egg product" from a milk carton or precooked egg patties. Yuk

Just be sure to smother it in ketchup when you get it home! That little bit of acid really helps.

I'm fond of Gia's Gelatos breakfast sandwiches. I usually get the sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant.

Not your typical breakfast sandwich, but I agree, it's pretty darn tasty. It's also one of the more filling breakfast sandwiches. They really don't skimp on the fillings.

Can you fill me in on what's inside their breakfast sandwich that makes if not typical but darn tasty...kind of curious here.

Well, the ingredients are pretty much the same, bread and egg and cheese and sausage, but the ingredients are more italian. Instead of a kaiser bun, it's served on an italian roll. Instead of the typical sausage patty, it has chunks of italian sausage. Instead american cheese, you can get it with mozz or provolone. If I remember correctly, the eggs are also grilled along chunks of grilled bell peppers.

That's the variation I get anyways. They offer different combos which I haven't tried yet.

I tried this combination this morning. Impressive, and a great alternative to the usual bagel or kaiser. The bread is amazingly good. Thanks for the recommendation.

The Dixon Deli on Columbus and Varick/Coles makes a solid bacon egg and cheese and it's like $2.50. And they have small coffee for 75 cents, large for $1. Can't beat it.

Legal Beans on Grand by the firehouse. I like their egg sandwiches and they fry it on a grill they also have an actual oven as well. Basic is a great place in the AM for a sit down with pastries, muffins, bagels, and coffee but all they have is a toasting machine, they nuke their eggs.
How's the Warehouse for breakfast I haven't been there in a while ?
