More importantly, I'm pretty sure it's not all drunken frat boys in hoboken. If that was the case, how would they be able to afford the rent in hoboken (which by the way is much higher than in JC - even downtown). Explain that please. Not to mention that Hoboken home values cream ours also.

So yes, if those families and working class come into JC and bring a few "frat boys" along with them, I'll welcome them with open arms.

When my family moved out of JC, it wasn't to Hoboken, and it wasn't because we couldn't afford "Hoboken home values" that "cream" JC's.

Yeah, it's a shame all those hard working families that have continued to gentrify JC and are the most frequent users of the park are ruining the park. I bet those families in JC have nothing in common with the families you refer to that live in Hoboken. Those Hoboken families are so much more upper class. Oh my, I think they may even be royalty. I will avert my eyes and humbly bow when I come upon some Hobokenite.

Most "civilized" nations have public bathrooms all over their cities. In Paris, there's one every few blocks. There's no bathroom panic, trying to find a friendly Starbucks or some other kind store owner who will allow you to use the restroom. We reap what we sow. If we as a city provide no facilities for children/adults to use, then this is what happens. Yes, it's not right, polite, or whatever, but that's just the sad state of affairs we live with.

I have seen kids do more damage to Hamilton Park than any 25 dogs. They break branches, tear up plants and flowers and on and on. Often they do so while parents sit idly by.

Yes thank god because now you won't have 3-year olds peeing in the park, but 20-something year old drunken frat boys peeing on the sidewalk, the stoop, and the front door. Oh yeah, it's so about time.

Vindication, it's 2225 hours, I think it is time for your regularly scheduled peeing.

Unless your kid is extremely sick and puking, I don't want to see your kid peeing in public. That is disgusting and everyone should shame those parents.

I'll just repeat myself.
There is a port-o-potty by the basketball court. It is less than half a block away and no one will mind if your kid pees in it. Hopefully they make it in the hole.

Personally, I don't let my kids pee on the ground. I will bring a portable potette potty when I am potty training my kids. I also keep one in my car. It is hard to ask a 3 yo to hold in his or her pee even a block or two to walk to a store. I would probably take my kid out of the playground and have them do it behind a bush if I was truly desperate.

I remember public parks having rest rooms. The city also had matrons in the parks to maintain the rest rooms and playgrounds. Van Vorst Park had rest rooms under the bandstand. I don't agree with parents decisions, but little ones have short intestines and they pass water quite fast. Parents should use the public rest rooms in the public library if they are at Van Vorst Park.

Yes, I think we'd all agree that your not having children is for the best. For you, and for the gene pool of our alien race.

I'm torn on this. I don't really see a diff between a dog peeing on the lawn or a kid peeing, except many dogs pee way more than kids.

Soloution: take your kid to the dog run to piss! Everyone's happy. Just be sure to bring some plastic bags to pickup your kids poo.

In a parallel universe where everything would work as I planned / envisioned, I completely agree with you. I wish I could plan my kids' bathroom visits, and their temper tandrums.

Unfortunately, in this real world, things don't always work how you like them to, especially when it concerns kids. Hence, I let my kids pee in bushes, but always discreetly, and only innocent plants may be harmed once in a while. When nature calls, you work with it - you cannot fight against it.

I definitely don't agree the parents let her pee in the middle of the grass as they should do it further away from it and try not let others see it. However, i understand this is not something the parents can control sometimes.

I do remember i had similar situation when my 3 yr old urge to pee in the park and we are just only few steps away from the bathroom. He couldn't wait for walking that few steps and end up peeing without pulling his pant down.

Speaking of kids peeing in public: Last week during morning rush hour at 8:15am, right on Grove St. in one of the trees in front of MXYPLYZYK. Kid is probably 3 or 4 years old and just letting 'er rip with the Mom holding his hand. I'm new to Jersey City but is this, like, a thing here? Either way, it's better than 25 year olds peeing on my stoop in the Lower East Side.

Let's imagine a universe where people have class and don't let their kids pee in public. Better yet, in this universe, if your kid desperately needs to go pee, you spare 2.5 bucks and go into a restaurant or store and buy a drink so they can use the bathroom.

Sounds as though this person did it right in the middle of the little grassy area in the playground, it would have been nice to have moved further away and gone in a bush.

So a kid had to pee in the park. Big effing deal. It happens. Get over it. That's not as bad as a couple weeks ago around 11 p.m., when I saw a guy taking a piss right on Grove Street between two parked cars in front of A-1 Deli. And, no, it wasn't a homeless guy. Just some jerk who couldn't have cared less.

We asked Tribeca Pediatrics last time we needed a toilet and they were accommodating. The new Italian place is worth a try, as is Basic. The cost of a coffee at Basic is worth sparing your kid having his playtime cut short.

I also think I saw a Porto-Pottie in the park when I walked by recently.

I don't like the idea of kids micturating anywhere in public either. But lets look at an imaginary parallel universe version of Jersey City, one that is EXACTLY like the one we live in EXCEPT there are public restrooms in the parks. Close your eyes and picture what the inside of this restroom is going to look like and smell like. See? If I had a kid I would still think better of him or her taking a wizz on a tree rather than have them traumatized and mentally scarred by visiting this imaginary public restroom.

The horror! I saw a dog, a bird, and a squirrel do it too!

But seriously, my son "waters" the trees and bushes on the rare occasion it is necessary. There is no bathroom there, and if you are a parent, you know that sometimes there is no choice.

THAT'S HORRIBLE! WHAT WAS SHE THINKING!

She should have had the kid pee in the bushes like everyone else in HP for time immemorial. It's a virtual rite of passage.

Sadly, unless you actually live on the park, with a recently toilet trained kid you don't have much options.
