A coalition of Fulop,Bill O'dea and Jeff Dublin beat the Healy team 149 votes to 119.
Jeff Dublin is the new Chairmen.
Healy and the rest of his crew were none to happy after the vote.

with a little help from your friends and neighbors who were outside the polling station most of day explaining the columns and new districts .... we missed your sensibility and humor, but not the booming voice. congratulations, well deserved!

for those who would like to learn more about political party service and how to run for a political party committee seat, see - http://jointhecampaign.com/resources/ ... y-online-class-login.html

The results for the committee seats will not be released for a few days. The information has to be sent to the City Clerk and he will release the results. The committee candidates were able to get the results at the closing of the polls.

You can write in Riaz Ahmad as a personal choice (Line 11).
Ahmad is supported by Democrats4JC and Steve Fulop

To be clear, only registered Democrats and presently unaffiliated voters who decide to declare can vote for their selections in this Democratic primary?

And likewise on the Republican side? Are there even any Republicans running?

As I understand it, all of the Democrats for Jersey City are in the "D" column on the ballot (lower right). These are all Fulop candidates.

Also, who is Fulop endorsing in district 7?

Any info appreciated....

I have voted for, and would encourage others to vote for, Bruce Alston. Bruce is a bright, independent democrat.

Legislators often place their names on bills as sponsors. The one bill that I am aware that Sandra Cunningham has been the prime mover on is the bill to allow Healy to eliminate the Department of Public Works and fold it into the Jersey City Incinerator Authority.

You may recall a few months ago, Healy proposed doing this. It turned out that the administration ignored an independent consultant concluded the opposite: that the Incinerator Authority should be abolished and DPW should take over its functions. This would save the city significant money and also eliminate patronage. Councilman Fulop rightly called BS on Healy's scheme.

The state then notified Jersey City that there was a problem. The law which allows cities to form "Incinerator Authorities" only allowed those authorities to undertake tasks relating to waste disposal and the like. It does not allow them to create public work authorities without accountability.

So what does Sandra Cunningham do? She tries to change the law allowing the Incinerator Authority to become an unaccountable public works authority. I cannot support that.

Sandra Cunningham is a Healy Democrat, but at the State level.

Sandy Cunningham is a very low quality person. Her primary advisor was Joe Cardwell, a man who just plead guilty to accepting bribes. She is a typical HCDO hack with a very nasty attitude. She invokes the race card each time she is criticized. And on top of everything else, she has supported Christie and his cuts for education.

They are running under the Democrats for Jersey City (a.k.a. Team Fulop). Please get out and vote. This election can seriously come down to one or two votes!

Also, what about Jeffrey Dublin versus Arnold Williams for Freeholder? The only thing I know was Jeffrey Dublin was/is a member of the "old world" school board, which to me is shorthand for being a Healey supporter and useless.

Hello, I'm John Thieroff and I'm running for a seat on the Democratic Committee in Ward E, District 6 with the Democrats For Jersey City. I live in Gull's Cove and am active in the community - I serve as a trustee on the board of CivicJC, I have worked closely with NoGasPipeline to get Spectra to move their planned pipeline into the river, and I have worked with Councilman Fulop on a number of legislative issues pertaining to quality of life issues.

My running mate, Hope Cannon, and I are running as Committee People so that we can advocate for our neighborhood. We want to make sure that as downtown continues to grow that the Van Vorst Park and Liberty Harbor communities will be heard and their needs will be met, particularly with regard to issues such as:

- Pedestrian safety
- Property Revaluation
- Enforcement of vehicular traffic laws
- Litter

If you live in District 6, please vote 10D and 11D - HOPE CANNON and JOHN THIEROFF - for Democratic Committee tomorrow. The polls are open from 6am to 8pm and our polling location remains at PS 3 - 111 Bright Street. Feel free to contact me directly at jthieroff@gmail.com if you have any questions or issues that you feel are unresolved and need attention. When you vote tomorrow - stop and say hi. I'll be there most of the day, handing out my cards!

The act of declaration can be made at the poll. I know from experience. Whether or not that is consistent with the law, I don't know (it is consistent with "up to and including the day of election" and the website says "declare" not "change via form" as it does for party switchers.) In practice though, it seems as though verbally declaring at the poll is acceptable.

You don't actually change your affiliation - that is done for you via your vote in the primary.

I don't think that's entirely true. NJ is not an "open" state for voting in primaries.

"A registered voter currently affiliated with a political party who wishes to change their party affiliation must file a Political Party Affiliation Declaration Form 50 days before a Primary Election.

A registered voter currently not affiliated with a political party may declare their party affiliation up to and including Primary Election day."

http://www.state.nj.us/state/elections/parties_doe.html

If you are listed as Undeclared, you need to change your party affiliation to Democratic when you go to vote in order to vote for Democrats for Jersey City Column D candidates.
