Quite a regular

The best burgers in Jersey City are all on the west side of town.
1. Park Tavern hands down for a rich, fully-flavored bar burger. 2. Jimmy Bravo's for an assortment of specialty burgers and hot dogs. 3. White Mana is what White Castle dreams of.

All of the food at Park & Sixth is great. I had the lamb burger a while ago and it was amazing.
York St Tavern does a surprisingly good burger as well, but the rest of the food is pretty meh. And I can't complain about those $1.50 Yeunglings.

Park Tavern does have a very good burger.
My favorite used to be the El Che burger at Hard Grove (breaded, fried, topped with chimichurri sauce) but RIP, they took it off the menu. WHY?!?!

Park & 6th and Skinner get my vote. There was a day when Marco was my spot, but the inconsistency got to an unacceptable point for me. At least at Skinners and PArk I know what I'm getting, and they hit my temp majority of the time. White Star, the last 2 times I tried was a joke. Assuming it started with the latest owners, but the food there is not what it used to be. substandard, even for bar food. Same could be said for LightHorse, inconsistent and the service is insanely bad. Long time ago, but I was once called an "as#$ole" by the bartender for turning back a well done burger when I ordered rare. Park tavern is great, but out of the way for Grove residents. o'connell's is pretty good as well.

As an avid burger lover, i wish we had more high quality burger offerings in JC. Right now my go to's are the beast burger at Park and Sixth and the Vermont white cheddar burger at Marco & Pepe (simple and delicious when done right, but they can be pretty inconsistent). I wanted to love White Star, but gave them three tries and each time my burger was dry and overcooked. I would pay good money if someone could knock off the lamb burger at The Spotted Pig and save me that trip into midtown...

White Mana's bacon cheeseburger probably gets my vote. I thought Park Tavern was good but not great. Better than Five Guys? Sure, but not the best in Jersey City

while person on resurrected thread was looking for downtown, I agree Park Tavern is best bar and best burger, though Skinner's has great burger and better fries and White Star etc good burger.
worth the bus ride and have done it more than a few times. even better when kids piano recital off of Westside Ave and we can double up. Quote:

Another vote for "Park" Tavern.
Big, best, greasy burger in JC and one of the best bars all rolled into one. And, best of all, it ain't downtown! http://www.yelp.com/biz/new-park-tavern-jersey-city New Park Tavern 575 West Side Ave

Park & Sixth is good, so are Skinners and Brightside. There are actually a decent amount of places for a good, if not great burger in DTJC. Most of the bars have decent burgers.

I am no downtown hater, like most folks think I am. Just think most of the stuff being dished out is not worth it.. but when I do go downtown to eat and I feel like a burger, I hit up the Lamp Post on 2nd street.
Huge, juicy man size burgers and not $30 bucks :) with good sides. Its not a yuppie den, just a laid back pub mate.

The burger at White Star is good, but I'm wondering if there is anywhere I'm missing?
Recommendations much appreciated. Looking for somewhere walking distance from the PATH, ideally Grove or Pavonia/Newport.

white mana all the way! and then maybe PTs if it wasn't such a cop bar. nobody can walk in there without getting stared down by the damn porkers and their friends, esp. if you're not caucasian.
tommy's II on manila was the best until that dumb sandwich place overtook them. haven't been down that block in a while but is tommy's 1 still around?

tried the Skiners burger for the first time in a while last week. loved it. much improved since the last time. regular fries in place of shoe-string.
Just check your salt before pouring... unbelievably, there are still morons in this word that pull the old "uncrew the salt cap" gag.

Wow, just had a Kobe burger at Fire & Oak last night. It was amazing. IMO it blew away the Embankment's burger. Granted, it was a splurge ($17.95, includes fries), but worth it. I also upgraded the fries to their truffle cheese fries.
They also have a regular "Fire & Oak" burger on the menu that is a little less pricey, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll have to do a taste test. Great service, good wine. We'll be going back. Also, they have a Monday special of $1 oysters. They were very good too. (We also had a short rib sandwich, which we weren't impressed with. It was too sweet for our tastes. I wouldn't order that again)

It takes forever, and you have to like it medium-rare since it never comes out any other way, Marco and Pepe's are quite good. The fries are excellent. Also, the best Bloody Mary's I've ever tasted.

Marco and Pepe has a great burger in two sizes! And I'd have to say the Lamb Burger at American Masala is none too shabby. Their fries are unusual and addictive:

why did I have to read this. Now all I'm going to think about is a PT burger with Taylor Ham. The craving won't go away until I go up there.

The bar referred to above is (I think) the Park Tavern on West Side Ave just south of Communipaw. Amazing burgers, but probably not the OP's scene.

I think Marco and Pepe have a great burger, just as long as you know how to eat beef, which is to say, rare.

I would normally say Parkside Tavern on Westside Ave, but downtown I think both Embankment and, believe it or not, the Lamp Post.
I had opportunity to stop by Lamp Post several times in the afternoon and the burger was a killer, tasty, and good fries and onion rings.
