LMAO......have you actually ever tried to cancel Comcast??? They tell you it's easy when they sign you up(sell you) but in reality it is a major pain in the butt. After four phone calls and a trip to Journal Square office to return the equipment, it was finally done. Its easy to get. Easy to switch when you move, but my experience cancelling was a nightmare. oh yea....they continued to bill me two months after the equipment was returned. Best of Luck my friend.

Comcast just gave me Digital Cable with HBO, SHO, STARZ, extra tv box, internet supposedly the "blast" variety (SKEPTICAL), and VOIP phone for $105.00 a month taxes included. You don't have to sign a contract with Comcast, so if I get pissed at them, I'll look elsewhere! It's a love hate relationship.

There is a lot more wrong with Foxnews than just it's fuzzy picture.

But as much as I rag on TFC, I actually do watch that channel quite a bit - for Philippine news, pinoycentric American news, and one Manila-based design/architecture show that a friend of mine hosts.

Anyway, about 10 yrs ago, a friend of mine bought her first home and moved to JC. She was born here and thought it would be fun to have TFC in her home and subscribed to it. When she realized how crappy 90% of the shows were, she cancelled her subscription. one day she mistakenly pressed 670 and found out that she was still getting TFC. That's how I found out that it was "free" in JC. That is, until this whole Comcast HD reboot, when they realized they'd been sending out the signal for free for nearly a decade.

I guess I'll have to rely on reading my news on the web, and watching my friend's show on youtube.

That's the correct price. Its been that way for quite some time now, i.e years. All of the On Demand Filipino programming is additional $$$ even if you are a 670 subscriber.

The basic-est basic one (what I have) runs about $40/mo when you add in the tax and fees. It's another few dollars to get channels like Discovery and TNT. Comcast has a deal elsewhere that's $29.99/mo for digital cable for a year, but for some reason it's not available in Jersey City.

Whats the price for a basic cable bill plan for 1 year? Any deals goin on?

I don't have a converter box from Comcast but I am picking up some new shows on NJN in digital or high definition. These new shows of Jacques Pepin and Victory Garden fills the whole screen. All other shows on all the channels only fill part of the screen of my HD TV.

I found your channels. They are at 23-1 and 23-4. They squeezed 6 channels into channel 23. 23-2 and 23-3 are also NJN stations. 23-4, 23-5, 23-6 are WLIW stations. You need a HD Ready TV to receive them. That really sucks especially when these are "public" television stations.

I have comcast standard cable (non-digital) and NJN and WLIW both went out at the same time a couple days ago and have not returned. The rest of my channels are fine. Anyone else having the same problem?

Also: why is the $29.99/mo for 12 mo digital cable deal available everywhere comcast serves EXCEPT jersey city?

I just moved from Manhattan to JC (Paulus Hook) this weekend. We had Comcast set up the TV and internet, and while at first the HD channels didn't look very sharp compared to what we had with Time Warner, they look great now and the internet is very fast - WAY faster than our old TW connection. Plus, the DVR box works much better.

Based on all the complaints here I was expecting the worst, but I'm very pleasantly surprised! What great timing to add the new HD channels.

I also spoke to a rep at Comcast last week, and she mentioned that there should be some more HD stations getting launched between now and June 15th. Hopefully we can get FoxNews, CNBC, ESPN news and Encore in HD soon

I'm not at home so i don't know the channel numbers, but off the top of my head, some of the new HD channels are Animal Planet HD, Food Network HD, Discovery HD (did i have that already?), HGTV HD, USA HD, A&E HD (i think).

All these channels are in the low to mid 200s like the previous HD channels.

I also got a comast mailer recently saying they were moving channels around and i think it said it would be active on the 14th. (I don't remember exactly, and now its in the garbage).

Some of the new channels were not coming in too great for me. Also, now my internet is sporadically going down.

what new HD channels are you guys seeing specifically and what channel #'s.
I'm not seeing any guide updates on my media center yet.
