Re: 50 Columbus Luxury Rental Building Suprasses 75% Leased In downtown Jersey City

Hello. My wife and I have lived here for 3 1/2 years since the tower opened. Utility bills are a major concern. From October through March, our PSEG bill is between $200 and $400/month. Not to mention we are in a 840 sq ft one bedroom and work all day. Friends of mine that live here with a kid and two bedroom that run heat all day/night have bills north of $500-600. It is absurd. We are on the 25th floor, NW corner with great views, but gets no sun exposure. The windows have the worst insulation in creation.

The building is nice and has great amenities, but the heating/cool sucks a fat one.

P.S. the demographics have changed in a bad way this year

Agreed. Good food and atmosphere. Pretty crowded as well. The service was very slow, but it was the first Saturday. Would definitely go back.

I live there. The building is for the most part full. People that say it is 200/400 are incorrect. It's a nice place to live. Amenities are great, and the price is right. Parking prices are about average.

I have lived there for 2 1/2 years. The building is great, but there are some massive dogs in there. One guy has two great danes that lives in a 1 bedroom. They got loose in the building once. Some people have no brains.

What was going on today around 6 PM by Marin and Columbus? There were 8-10 cop cars and over 20 cops looking for something in the sewers and bushes. They had some guy Yoked up.

Its funny that you mention the eye sore that is Washington after the A building to Trump. I was driving with a few friends on Wednesday through Newport South heading towards Columbus, and before I could explain the mess on Washington, my one friend mentioned that it looked like a annilated Beriut, between the stall projects on First and Washington, the trash/weeds/etc from the Powerhouse to the moon driving experience on the unpaved Washington.

Pretty embarrassing actually.

Totally worth the money. Nothing beats their Chocolate Peanut Butter with hot fudge. I wouldn't go to Shop Rite if they were giving away free ice cream. Shop Rite is the worst shopping experience in Jersey City.

There is nothing worse than this. I get so friggin aggregated when idiots block the box near 12th and Erie Street. The light is short as it is, and jackoffs constantly block the intersection. There should be a cop at every corner going North near the tunnel and give people gigantic fines for doing this.

The place does have good food, especially the burger and fries. It is like Babu's restaurant in Seinfeld. You hope that it does well, but every time you go in or walk by, it is empty

Whenever I get dinner at O'Connells, there is never more than 5 people in the place. I am curious how a place in that location stays in business.

I also spoke to a rep at Comcast last week, and she mentioned that there should be some more HD stations getting launched between now and June 15th. Hopefully we can get FoxNews, CNBC, ESPN news and Encore in HD soon

My cross street is Columbus and Warren. I am hoping it turns on over the next few days. Very frustrating, but at least there is some positive progression. Nothing worse than when I go to my parents in Bergen County and they have 100 HD stations and we have 10 here

I am also getting "Not Authorized". I spoke to Comcast today. They said they are rolling out other new HD stations between now and June because of the analog - digital conversion.

Joy to the World!!!!!

Comcast finally added 11 HD stations to the lineup, 12 when you count MLB TV. Finally some progress!!!!

I totally agree. It is extremely frustrating that it is 2009 and we have 26 HD stations. I have family in Bergen County, and they have over 80 HD stations easy. They even have the new MLB TV station already in HD. We had 2 HD stations launched in 2008, MSG and SNY. At this pace we'll have 80 HD stations in 2100!!

Comcast, please step up and hook us up!!

What was the gigantic crane doing today at 50 Columbus. It had to be at least 50 stories tall. Does anyone at all know what was going on? It just left recently

I usually check out engadgethd.com, which talks about new gadgets and new hd being added to various parts of the country. Why everyday do I see Comcast adding 5-10 HD stations everywhere besides Jersey City. Penn/Delaware just received 3 new stations, Connecticut is adding 9 new stations, and the list goes on and on. We don't even have Fox news hd, discovery channel, espn news, etc.

I am happy that I bought two new tv's last December to watch the 20 stations that we have in HD.

How many others are experiencing the same frustration???

All joking aside, it really is a joke that we have 20 HD stations. Has anyone recently called to inquire of the addition of new HD stations? I called back in July. 1 addition every 6 months is not gonna cut it.

Unfortunately my building does not allow any sort of dish. I bought two HD tvs this year, and can't even enjoy the benefits.

If you have the iphone, you can buy an app called itrans path that is pretty awesome. it gives you a timetable for each path station. Real easy to use and helpful at night when the trains run less frequent

What is the rationale of not adding any new HD stations. Does anyone know when more will be added?

I hate Comcast also. We haven't been given new HD stations all year, while Verizon and Cablevision have a million HD stations. I called today, and there is no plans of adding channels in the immediate future.

I called Verizon today, and they said that downtown JC isn't wired yet, and it could take a year for it to complete. Not to mention that the picture quality is sh*t, but the have us by the balls.
