Use Combat Gel around the area where they are comming into your home. You can find it at PathMark, Shoprite and A&P. Combat Gel is the best product I have ever used.

The problem I have found with those gels is that they leave residue behind and are hard to clean up. I still have residue on my wall from 4 years ago when I used the gel. It turned a nasty brown color over time.

We are having Verizon Fios installed next monday. My question to anyone who has it. Is there a remendous amount of wiring to be done and, how much equipment is involved? We are getting phone, internet and cable. Anyone who knows or had experience with installation I would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks in advance!

The house next door to me got wired for Fios last week. I watched the guy do the installation. It took several hours and the guy had to leave and come back at least twice (not sure if that's normal). I saw him go up on the pole and run a new wire from the pole to the building. They say you should allow at least 4 hours for the installation. I think most of the work gets done on the outside of the house. Inside they use your existing coax and phone wiring.

In this type of situation you can file a police report but I don't think there is really anything they can do. Nobody got hurt, and even if they tracked these guys down it's just your word against theirs. Even with your witnesses I don't think that would even give them a reckless driving infraction.

I am moving in 4 days and need to get my PSE&G service transferred over to the new address. I have been unable to get through to customer service for the past 2 days. They keep playing a recording about a power outage in the area and that there is an unusually high call volume. Give me a break.

I agree. Every time I read these robbery stories it always involves people carrying large sums of money. I don't get why anyone would carry that much cash no matter where they are. Is it tough to get a credit card in JC?? LOL

I had a similar issue. My electric usage this month showed about 30% higher than usual. At the beginning of my bill there was a message that bills may be higher this month due to a new billing system - so we are actually being charged for a billing period that is longer than usual. But your case sounds excessive.

Ah yes, and I too will post there eventually, but for $100 you don't get a brand new unit and definitely not 7800 btu.

I bought an 8000 BTU unit on CL for $80 last summer. I sold it this year for $65 (moving and no longer need it). It wasn't new, but worked great.

Don't use any kind of ant spray. That will only kill the ants that you see. Use bait stations, but don't kill the ants that you see walking in and out. Let them bring the bait back to the nest and kill the entire colony. Bait stations usually work within a day or two.

What was going on yesterday with the inbound tunnel? Marin Blvd. was backed up all the way to Columbus all day from about 1pm through 11pm when I went to bed.

I've been a BOA customer for over 10 years with no problems. I mainly just use them for my checking account. Their interest rates are terrible for savings accounts so I use ING for that. I never had a BOA credit card so I can't comment on that.

The fire dept. also responds to most medical calls and pretty much any type of dangerous condition like a car accident or even a person trapped in an elevator.

Always. When you first sign up for the three play or two play or even a 1 play or whatever. you sign a a 1 year or 2 year contract. They mail you a notice about it. It locks in your rate but it also says their is a $175 early disconnection fee.

The thing is they can't actually keep track of the contract b/c mine says i still have like 4 months on it. i have had comcast for 2 years. it should be over.

Oh. I just have internet service through Comcast. I called last fall to get my rate lowered and she said there was no commitment.

If you call the JCIA they will send someone over to pick it up. I have had to do this several times. There was probably too much mixing of recyclables and garbage.

This is nothing new. I think NY state had a similar lawsuit two years ago because Verizon kept "running out" of the LCD tv's they promised new customers.

You think bollards are bad? If you go to the Stop&Shop supermarket in Highland Park (near New Brunswick) they actually make you insert a quarter to release the cart. Then when you return the cart you get the quarter back. They said it's because a large portion of the customers walk to the store and they don't want them walking home with the carts.

They claim this will make our internet speed faster....we shall see

I went to speedtest.net and my internet speed is definitely faster now. Prior to today my download speeds were about 10Mbps, now they are around 14-15Mbps. Try for yourself.

To the OP, the high cost of your bill doesn't surprise me. The past 2 months I have paid over $100 in gas costs and my 1BR apt is barely over 550 sq ft. I travel for business so I am away many days per month (so I turn the heat way down), and when I'm home I never turn the thermostat above 68. This has been an unusually cold winter so that certainly doesn't help matters.
