Recalling my Two Aprons experiences, even if they had a renewal option, they never would have exercised it in time.

shame. shame the tenant didn't have a renewal clause (with reasonable increase) in lease.

Pretty cool news. I hope the small place in Paulus Hook keeps it's small-town feel, though.

I love that little building! Hope they can make it work. That area could use a couple more dining options.

Agree. I oftentimes have to walk on the street while the sidewalk becomes their dining room full of strollers and dogs.

The morning crowd is getting progressively worse. This morning they took up the entire sidewalk. I politely said "excuse me" to one of the offenders who proceeded not to move. Causing me to have to push straight through a conversation and a small hole. I want to support a local small business but they should also support their neighbors and keep the sidewalk clear. Funny, their tactic of stinking up the sidewalk with the chicken smell doesn't bother me. Just makes me want dinner.

While Harbor Casino is narrow, it is confined except for the smokers. I think the smoking section should be moved to Essex.

I had Two Aprons cater a couple of trays of sandwiches for my World Cup party... It worked out wonderfully. I did have to pick up, as they deliver on foot and carrying trays is not easy, but it was on time. I really only eat one or two sandwiches from their menu, so I added some of the owner's suggestions that I had not tried before and was impressed. So were my hungry friends.

Ill try it next monday. I walk a dog directly across the street. I picked up their menu a while back but never had the urge to go in. Hope I like it, but then again I like most mid eastern food.

Tommy, you're right, even as a fan, I'd say, they are rather slow. For those of us in the neighborhood, it doesn't matter much, a way to unwind and run into people... However, if I'm working from home or in a hurry, I call my sandwich order in advance, then show up 10-15mins later. Works like a charm.

Been meaning to try Two Aprons for a few years now, I finally did yesterday. My wrap was AMAZING ... but man oh man, did it take FOREVER to prepare!!! There was only one other customer in there. Once I placed my order, it took the 2 guys (one older guy/owner, and one youngish kid) about 20-25 minutes to make it (no exaggeration).

I absolutely appreciate freshly made food, but it was a little ridiculous. The 2 guys were really slow moving, almost like snails. Like I said, the food was tasty, so I'll be back -- but they may want a little pep in their step.

I guess it might have to do with attitude - I have ALWAYS had a very positive vibe going by Two Aprons. And I walk with a stroller most of the time. Get a nice comment or a smile, nice start for a day.
Where the sidewalk tables and chairs are a nuisance, is at Harborside Casino. There you have a VERY NARROW passage between a wide lamp post and patrons of the place. Same on the Essex side of the street, there you have a fence against you. That one is hard to go by with a kid in tow.

I thought we were the only ones who get annoyed by that guy who sprawls out! And if you dare to walk between the table and the door, he throws out the evil eye! Unreal!

Also, I'll add that I don't think the owner is so nice, after the way he treated that nice young man who used to work there. He would yell at him all the time and I think he eventually fired him for some bogus reason.

eh, it IS kind of annoying that table is there. they obviously do not have a sidewalk permit, and there is not much room to maneuver. i tend to avoid walking on that part of the street in the morning.

And it is usually the same guy who sprawls his leg all over ths sidewalk. Honestly, wtf is that about? keep your damn legs under the table! is it that hard? it's like those guys on the subways who have to spread their legs wiiiiiiiide so they encroach on your space. as if their package is that big??? i don't think so, tiny.

I used to live nearby and on most mornings there was an effete fellow sitting on one of the chairs outside 2A with his legs crossed and feet blocking the sidewalk. It never bothered me and I simply stepped around him (although it would have been nice if he sometimes bothered to look at people's faces rather than stare at passing men's crotches, but it's none of my bidness what he does while enjoying his morning coffee).

As for why I don't say something to them directly, it will result in them muttering "*sshole" as I walk by. I would rather they see this post and move the tables on their own.

I doubt they would treat a polite request in this manner but if you're afraid to confront the owners directly maybe you can leave a yellow sticy on the door. (Also, I believe any restaurant or deli that uses sidewalk space has to have a permit - or at least that's a sidealk cafe requirement in NYC.)

Every retail outlet but Two Aprons let me place calendars in their stores. They were thin and small and not cumbersome. I asked him nicely and he said, oh no I don't think that would be okay. I decided that it would be okay if I didn't put my $ in his pocket as well.

Oh in purjeds defense, that is a stupid place for a table, there is no room. You do have to walk over the doors to get by. Someone slips on that and he's going to be held accountable I would think.
And purjed ask him to take table away and if he won't then take it from there.

But that's just my experience.

Every morning on my way to work I have to walk around the table(s) out side of Two Aprons that they have stuck under the tree in the middle of the sidewalk.

I am all for a nice mom and pop store and wish them the best, but I hate having to either walk in the street or step on the steel doors to the basement. If they have a permit for the table, aren't they supposed to put it next to their storefront?

Please keep the sidewalk clear. I don't know how Moms with strollers get by.

Just had a sandwich & capuccino there recently and...

It's awesome! I really like the food, the roti chickens smelled/looked good too. They seem to be doing good business with those...

Such a sweet little place.

I don't have a car. I was hoping that someone who parks around here can answer your question.

I think you can find parking around here during weekday lunch hour. Probably Wednesday would be the best day, because there are street cleaning on the other days.

Two Aprons is very small. They are mainly for take-outs. They have two small tables.

Two Aprons has rotisserie chickens now. $15 for whole, $9 for half.

Free range, no antibiotics, no plastics.

The place is right around the corner from me. I had a sandwich there a few weeks ago. It was a good, but I wish they had a bit more of a choice. The service was excellant and the place is very clean.

I think they need to ramp up their menu. Not a large choice and for the price I dont think I would make a long trek to this place.
I wish them well, all the same.

Dropped by there this afternoon. Great food and great service. Had the Greek Salad and a bagel with cream cheese with green olives. One of my friends got the Lebanese sandwich (SO GOOD). They gave us samples of the strawberry lemonade and let us try the baklava (best baklava I've ever had!!! pistachios on top and walnuts in the middle).

I hope this place does well. It has a nice personal small town feel. The owner didn't have to, but he gave up a few minutes of his time to speak to us. Will definitely be back.

I went there the other day. The people there are very friendly and the food is pretty good. I wish there were a few more items for carnivores but I'll definitely try it again once I check out mark frank's around the corner first.

btw, there is no seating, the pita sandwiches average 6-7 bucks.

I am now a two timer....went back for the big blue salad today and it was great - it was such a nice day so I walked the length of the liberty walk at the park and back but couldn't stop thinking of getting something yummy for lunch - decided to skip the sandwiches for a salad and I am glad that I did - it was delicious....now get some menus so I can drool over them at home and motivate to walk down there

went in for lunch yesterday and it was delicious - looked around in walkers apothecary while they made our sandwiches I had the second one on the menu (I forget the name but it was some cheese and tomatoes w/ a tomato pesto type sauce- he even threw in some olives for me ) and my friend had the veggie -- they were both amazing
she also had an almond pastry and was in love!

delicious, fresh and so willing to accommodate special orders

I was dreaming of my lunch all day might have to go back and try another today......I want that tuna salad
