It's a frivolous lawsuit. A waste of money x2. VNA is gonna hire attorneys along with the city using tax dollars collected from VNA members.

Fulop is giving out abatements any more. We should be thankful for the ratables. But no. This is why we can't have nice things.

I noticed the nice lamp post that was in front of BattatavCafe is gone. Why isn?t the VNA using these resources to actually fix up and beautify their neighborhood? Do they do anything besides oppose every single development? Let?s not forget how their corrupt board went behind its own community?s back and opened up a secret back channel with the city to modify zoning in certain areas.

This group is wasting money on attorneys and frivolous lawsuits to stop one single extra story being built. Ridiculous

The biggest irony is that, in the immediate aftermath of the reval results, a TON of residents from The Village were aghast over the increase in tax levies for the residents of the area. You would think that promoting additional development and (and, thus, ratables) would be high on their list of priorities so that the tax burden is distributed among more people and, in turn, that tax levies (and the inevitable tax increase that will happen in the next few years) can be better absorbed.hl
Some people want their cake, and eat it too.

In case you just woke up. This city has been rapidly developing for 30 yrs and it has not helped tax increases much.

I don't have an issue with that. I also like that they were approved for 15 parking spots.

Of course, the assholes in the VNA are pulling their usual dirty tricks and are suing the city to get this stopped. How much taxpayer money is going to be wasted this time on another doomed to fail property rights lawsuit by a NA?

that monstrosity is just inconsistent with the character of the neighborhood. maybe the zoning board should be overhauled/fired; especially when one considers the buildings in jc where the developer added extra, non-permitted floors. this just smacks of incompetence/negligence, or even worse.

That section of 5th street isn't exactly Jersey City's proudest block (from a design/aesthetics point of view). That new mega house doesn't help though.
but how did that get through zoning/planning or historic?

Block party was great, and yes to an extent retail is good, however, brick and mortar retail does not do as well as e commerce. Restaurants occupy retail locations and if they are successful don't have competition from e commerce.

615 jersey is going to be an office space for Gotham West. This was told to me by one of the workers at the site. I was hoping for a new restaurant but oh well.

Anyone know what is being done at 615 Jersey Ave? I'm not sure if it is residential or commercial, although there looks like a counter along one wall that you would rest drinks on.

Good for them, the VVP neighborhood desperately needs more local retail that isn't a hair salon or a medical/real estate office. I'm looking forward to visiting as soon as they open, whatever it may be.

Actually, Montgomery, starting west from the park, has a lot of abandoned and underutilized ground floor retail. If done right, it has potential to be redeveloped into a nice restaurant/retail strip.
