Re: Journal Squared Project to Begin

You do realize KUSHNER COMPANIES is NOT developing Journal Squared. KRE group is Journal Squared, they are two different companies. That being said, this article has nothing to do with this thread.

Re: Citing chain store ban, Jersey City aims to block new CVS

The zoning is kind of ridiculous. That area of the waterfront is DEAD with retail and eating spots. All the talk about revitalizing the waterfront and adding more life to that part of Jersey City won't ever happen if the so called chain stores can't move in.
That area has been a quiet zone for so long so why not let someone move in when obviously no "local shops" have had interest in the location.

How about a grocery store???? We need one another one desperately!

Re: Gregorys Coffee

I have mixed feelings on Gregorys.
The good:
I was there on a weekday morning and the place was "on fire" as in a good way. The staff was awesome, fast, and there were tons of pastries to chose from.
The not so good:
I was there on a Sunday morning and the staff was awful. There were minimal pastries (only biscotti and one cookie) AND, the musis was SO LOUD I couldn't concentrate or hear what I was listening to on my ear buds.

It's a great addition to the water front for sure, they just need to work out some kinks.

WOW, your landlord is paying for the treatments, that is great since they do not have to.
I have had some experience with this in Passaic and trying to coordinate with all tenants is a nightmare. Consider yourself lucky you are being treated and the landlord is actually doing something about it.

How about we get back on subject.
The fact that Starbucks is opening in JSQ is an amazing thing. Hey maybe it will bring other coffee shops to the area that is so desperately in need of cafes.
I'm incredibly excited they are opening shop. I guarantee this is the start of making this area a better place to live and work!

Anyone know what's going on with Tommy's?
Went by twice now and they haven't been open!
They are my favorite Gelato place in all of Jersey City. I hope they are just doing some remodeling!

Will Starbucks ever open a location in Journal Square? With all the development and gentrification it seems like they are ready for a caf?.

Any rumors on that?

Any good places in JSQ for coffee??

Pasta Dal Cuore

Anyone been to Pasta Dal Cuore?
I had a bad experience there and will not be returning. Just wondering how other peoples dinners have been.
From the looks of how empty it is I would guess they wont be around for much longer anyway.
We do need a nice homemade Pasta place downtown, hopefully as we grow something else moves in!

When I heard a BBQ place was opening in the neighborhood I was super excited.
Sadly the joint was very disappointing. Not in the terms of taste but in the terms of PRICE AND PORTION.

I agree BBQ restaurants have a certain esthetic of big sloppy portions worth the little higher pricing.
I'm hoping that over time the menu changes and portions increase. This place could be a HOT spot for the Park
area if they get it right!

South House has a dam good burger. I was so impressed with the size and taste for the money! I highly recommend.

I was in Newport over the weekend and noticed they have the lower area where pay half was blocked off. The sign said two new restaurants coming soon.
Does anyone know what they are? The space is pretty big so I hope it's something good!

How sweet it is has returned to Paulus Hook a few doors down from it's prior location!
So glad to have them back in the neighborhood! Such a great little place to get gelato and sweet treats!

Welcome Back!

Anyone know what is going into the spot where "how sweet it is" was in Paulus Hook? Looks like there is some activity happening in the spot!
I hope it's something similar in terms of dessert/treats!
