The last time they had tryouts in the Meadowlands they called it New York. (I think I have that in an old above reply)

I heard them say Jersey City ONCE, and that was after the halfway point, and I looked up and was confused because I could have SWORN they said something about it being at the Meadowlands...but I guess the first part was taped at Meadowlands second in JC....anyway, as soon as I actually looked away from my laptop to watch, I could totally tell by the background that it was JC with those skylines but still....when they go to "Houston" or wherever else they go, they mention it a million times. They just tried to play off of the hype of Jersey Shore. Snorefest.

More old news, this was taped in the summer.

They didn't say Jersey City once. Just "New Jersey".

Jersey City's Liberty House Restaurant was venue for American Idol auditions in premiere episode

The Liberty House Restaurant in Liberty State Park in Jersey City was featured last night during the premiere of American Idol Season 10 on Fox at 8 p.m.

The show will continue tonight from 8 to 9 p.m. on Fox.

As usual, American Idol is beginning the season with auditions for the show.

Show judges Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez joined host Ryan Seacrest at the Liberty House Restaurant in September to film the first round tryouts for the New York and New Jersey auditions. Fox chose Liberty House as its setting because of its impeccable interiors and unbeatable views of Manhattan, according to the Idol producers.

Liberty House's Grand Ballroom served as the setting where the judges gave their verdicts to the competitors.

"It was exciting to have America's number one show film at our restaurant," said Jeanne Cretella, president of Landmark Hospitality, which owns and operates Liberty House Restaurant, Stone House at Stirling Ridge and Celebrate at Snug Harbor.

"Liberty House is the perfect setting for people chasing fame with the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan in the backdrop."

American Idol Auditions Tie Up Traffic on Rt. 3

American Idol auditions caused traffic delays leading to New Jersey's Izod Center today.

A line of vehicles more than two miles long stretched along Route 3 to the Izod Center in East Rutherford.

State police reported traffic at a crawl at the entrance ramp for the Meadowlands Parkway by 5:30 a.m.

Today was the last day for American Idol hopefuls to get wristbands in order to register to audition.

Organizers began distributing wristbands on Sunday. Those who obtained them returned today for auditions.

American Idol seeking singers in Jersey City

Are you the next Carrie Underwood or Taylor Hicks? Perhaps you're a little more Susan Boyle or you just enjoy singing in the shower and think you've got what it takes.
Well here's your chance. American Idol is coming to Jersey City this summer to hold auditions for its 10th season.

And with Simon Cowell announcing that Season 9 will be his last, you don't have to worry about handling his criticism while everyone is watching.

You will of course, still have to convince comedian Ellen DeGeneres, Randy Jackson and the other judges that you've got what it takes to be the next American Idol.

Contestants must be 16 to 28 years old to audition. For any readers outside the Jersey City area, the show will also visit Nashville, New Orleans and San Fransisco in search of talented singers to take the stage during Season 10

I bet Red Bulls Stadium and they call it "Jersey City." Then they can have the auditions that make it on TV at the Hyatt overlooking the water.

Anyone remember how New Jersey was dis?d in 2008?

The American Idol New York, New York auditions were really in New Jersey at the Meadowlands Arena. Not one mention of New Jersey during the shows on Fox, and they even had the balls to show NYC streets scenes and landmarks.

This was from some dudes blog at the time...pretty funny.

. 9:32 a.m.: OMG. This warm-up dude just had us say, "We love New York!" even though we're in New Jersey. Needless to say, the Bon Jovi fans in my section were enraged.

As I recall I think they had the auditions for the masses in the Meadowlands... the weeding out process. Then the top prospects were bussed over to NYC to appear in front of the 3 boobs. Yo dogg!

I wonder if they will do it the same way but this time the top prospects will be bussed to JC. To some hotel or restaurant with a nice view of the NYC skyline in the background.

That's what Ryan Seacrest said on the show tonight. It always seems like they put the crowds in stadiums as a holding area, initial audition place. Where could they do that here? Liberty Park?
