Many people are fearful (of being deported, families splitting up, losing healthcare) because they take his language and campaign promises literally. Then, because of the shock of his win, everyone had to quickly take him seriously. I think these feelings may temper as everyone begins to see that the "showman" Trump will be more even-keeled as he approaches the office (i.e., not completely repealing Obamacare).

If you haven't already, you should read this:

I?m a Muslim, a woman and an immigrant. I voted for Trump.

Thanks for sharing. It's been interesting to hear why so many people felt they needed to be secretive about voting for Trump and why the polls weren't representative of reality and this silent group. PBS Newshour had some great segments tonight from diverse voters for both candidates and from high schoolers. Mark Sheilds, Democrat, and David Brooks, Republican, reflected on the results and they both agreed that the worst thing anyone can do is assume that the extreme versions of either side represent the majority, because they don't.

no, they said they would discuss..not renegotiate. And those trade deals with Asia and Europe?

The Presidents of Mexico and Canada already are at the table to renegotiate NAFTA.

Unless Obama pushes TPP through over Thanksgiving Weekend... that agreement is dead as it is written. Who knows, maybe a new trade deal with UK ? Who knows.... the world is Trump's oyster.

don't panic, stay calm! democarts and others will have a chance to take back both houses in 2018 and the presidency in 2020 if they get their messaging and policies better aligned with what americans view as in their interest. hillary was ultimately done in by a 1,000 litle cuts that democrats were not paying attention to - they should have paid attention to the brexit vote.

That's a good one! How can liberals learn from Brexit when they know everything already? As far a 2018? The only thing reason the house was in play is because more Republican seats were up for election. Next time it will be more Democrat seats with a chance for the repubs to add. This is going to take a while for the libs but they made their own bed.

Whoa whoa whoa. This is not even analogous. Refusing to serve a group of people because of their sexual orientation is not at all the same thing as choosing not to patronize a business because you disagree with their owner's support of a presidential candidate.

Yuengling is not guaranteed purchasers by the Constitution the same way you aren't required to go have a beer at Pint if you disagree with this decision.

That's what the debate becomes. If that's the case, are the bars that continue to serve the beer associated with hate now? I dunno. Becomes messy when money is involved.

The CEO of GrubHub sure made a mess for himself and now the stock is 10% down (last I saw). All because he expressed his personal political views in an email to the employees. Messy!

I think what's starting to become very interesting is how some JC businesses are responding to the election. I'm not sure how I feel about businesses taking on a public political stance. Just in from Pint:

"Dear Pint Fans:

We love our diverse clientele. That diversity is what makes our city such a great place. We also love Yuengling - in fact we sell 230 barrels of Yuengling a year. But, Yuengling does not love us. The owners of Yuengling supporteded the racist, anti-gay, anti-women candidacy of Donald Trump. And we can't support that.

Beginning next week, Pint will no longer sell Yuengling or products from D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. The $15,000 a year we paid for their products will go to companies that do support diversity. We are also closing our account with Peerless Beverage Company, the distributor of Yuengling, until they drop Yuengling products from their lineup.

While we have a few kegs of Yuengling we already paid for and we'll pour those til they're gone, we're not worried about letting them go. We have lots of amazing craft brewers who will fill the Yuengling taps with delicious beer.

We don't expect that dropping Yuengling will change the world. But it will tell our neighbors, our friends, and you, that when you come to Pint you're welcome here - regardless of who you love, what you look like, or whether you sit or stand to pee.

Thanks for being our customers -

Wolf Sterling, Owner
Tommy DeMaio, General Manager"

Interesting... not only is The Pint not buying Yuengling Products, they are cancelling their Peerless distribution account and will boycott the distributor until they stop selling all Yuengling products to their other customers.

If the Pint is boycotting Yuengling, why would they expect their customers to buy and drink the The Pint's remaining inventory??? Liberal thinking amazes me sometimes,

ACA can't be 'tweaked'. It's too far along in crashing, which was its goal by design: make single-payer the "only option".

I expect by 2017, record numbers of healthy people will just pay the fine.. or be smart, reduce their withholding enough that the IRS cannot collect the fine.

Insurance companies will be left with nothing but the sick. This btw is exactly what happened in NY, NJ, and VT when they did their own versions of Obamacare (minus the mandatory purchases of insurance).

Trump will have three choices:

1. Single-payer (IMO.. won't happen since Medicare is already cash flow negative).
2. Deregulate (repeal ACA and allow insurance to be purchased across state lines).
2. Move to something like a Singapore system (mandatory HSAs), but with a more open insurance market in option #2.

Trump signals flexibility on ObamaCare. Yeah, babby!

The issue with US healthcare is not simply about who pays. The whole US healthcare system is rotten to the core. Needs an axe taken to it - and make sure we get value for money - irrespective of whether the funding is public or private.

I sure did. #Boycottgrubhub is trending hard on twitter and now rumblings of lawsuits. I don't care either way what personal views people have. I just find it an interesting topic when it comes to businesses.

I see it as the mark of a bad business owner. Very little to gain; a lot to lose.
