That's funny.. I'd say the biggest sore loser was Two Boots since they used the government to reduce (what they believed to be) competition in their area. And because they did so, the community has less food options. That's never a good thing. By the way, what occurred was not democracy. If there was an actual referendum, the people likely would have voted for the food trucks to stay. If anything is democratic, it's people choosing to vote with their wallets.

Two Boots isn't my kind of food. And if I had true "ethical eating ethics" - I'd probably go hungry unless I grew my own.
Some folks here are still upset at Two Boots over the food truck issue. Aaron made his case both to the JC council and on this forum. Pretty fairly imo. I didn't agree with him. But the ultimate decision-making lay with the JC council. Go after them if you think it's still an issue. Democracy is about debate. And I see a lot of sore losers on this thread - hounding the wrong target.

All the Chick Fil A protests haven't closed a single location; in fact, their business is thriving.

I mean, Monroe's argument is fundamentally wrong in that, yes, if everyone walks past, the business will go under. That's just like, how business works.
I also don't understand the "I don't care if the ownership sucks" argument. Why wouldn't you care? Why would you want that business in your community? I don't care how cheap the dog food is at the new place on Columbus, I'm never going to shop there.

Great question. Why on Earth would you not give a litmus test to business owners? You guys been to Adolph's yet? Owner is kind of a dick, but whatever, the price is right. You walking past absolutely will put someone out of business.

Sadly, so do the majority of our local joints, especially if you hit them at a time of low traffic and get a stale one. They need to pitch pizza that's been sitting too long. I've been to 2 Boots twice, returning because the Cajun slice with shrimp & andouille was crazy good. Only slice I"ve had as good in memory was a brazilian sausage slice in Newark. Was a lot like good smoky kielbasa. Most of the "creative" pizza around is pretty gross, like ziti pizza or the ubiquitous Buffalo chicken.

seems like a lot of wasted energy keeping track of bad behavior. Am I going to cancel my Porsche purchase because it is owned by VW?
I THINK NOT.

I've seen the lines at the Newport location. Under ten people every time. Not impressed. And I choose not to enrich people I know suck. No papa John's, no dominoes, no Wal-Mart. I don't see why they should be any wealthier from my own action

I don't give a litmus test to business owners who run places I patronize. I think the nutjob who runs Starbucks is an idiot, but I like some of their coffee. I don't think they'd miss me if I boycotted them, nor will Chick Fil A miss anyone either-have you seen the lines at that place? So feel free to walk past, but know doing so won't put anyone out of business.

yes. unless you find less options to eat out at to be better. outside of the assholes who are so desperate to make every cent that they'd lobby city hall to remove legal businesses that vaguely compete with them, i've seen no one who believes otherwise.
so yea, objectively.

hmmmm support chikfila and their anti-gay stances (lots of funding from their foundation still goes to anti-gay groups) or support an anti-local 2boots that has objectively reduced the quality of life in this neighborhood
i choose neither. eat at some place that isn't run by known assholes.

Two Boots celebrated the opening of its second Jersey City location on Thursday, and local officials were on hand for the ribbon cutting at the new restaurant located in the Newport Centre Mall. More

Hi All:
Tomorrow night Two Boots will be sampling our brand new Jambalaya and other new goodies for Mardi Gras. There will be a surprise complimentary refreshment as well. It starts at 6 and goes until closing. Please stop in. We'd love to get a nice crowd! TBJC

Still not sure if this is drunken wishful thinking or what but I believe the gentleman working there last night said they were expanding their menu to include more options, including gumbo. Which I would be allllll about.

If you're hankering for a slice to accompany the Super Bowl, please stop in. We just installed a really great projector and screen! (Sorry for the late notice. We installed it on Friday.)

Ate there last night and really liked the pizza. I had eaten at their Bleeker location and did not remember the slices being $4. That's a bit too steep, even for good pizza with a couple of toppings. It's much more economical to get a whole pizza, but of course that's not practical if you just want one or two slices. The cornmeal crust is not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it.

I think $4 is way too much for a slice, unless it's one of those super slices like you get on the boardwalk at the beach.

Just had a slice of plain with a pepsi - liked the pepsi, but all that cornmeal was unpleasant. Is this some regional style?
As I eat pizza as a snack and not a gourmet experience, the $4.50 was a bit steep.

Went here today and pizza was good! Very laid back and casual. What I did find odd is that there was a guy in there with 2 dogs. I initially saw him ordering at the counter with his dogs and thought he was going to leave after he got his pizza but no, he proceeded to a table. The dogs were begging and he was feeding them. As the managers were walking by, nothing was said to him. I am a dog person myself but isn't this a health code violation?!? I'd hate to see a health code official walk by and shut it down with it being such a new establishment. Maybe a sign on the door or have the manager say to people 'no dogs allowed' would help.

Meh, it was okay.
chicken Ceasar Salad was a few thin slices of cold flavorless chicken on a bed of romaine mixed with equally flavorless dressing. Pizza was tasty but $3.95 per slice? I'll stick with Carmine's for pizza and Delineo's for chicken Cesar any day! Both not as hip I'm sure but tastier IMO.
