A buffet restaurant strikes me as something most people here would look down upon, given the posts on restaurants and new places. But, somehow, this place, located in a dreary mall, in an inconvenient location for most JC residents, seems to be getting a lot of love and attention.

I personally not that excited about this buffet, but can see why it will be, since jersey city doesnt have one. Not to be debbie downer, i just dont see this buffet have the volume it needs to be successful given the location.

Good buffets need to have a lot of people so they can move volume and keep food fresh, always avoid the buffets with low foot traffic like the plague, because the food will not be good.

In term of looking down on buffets, i think it depends on the setup, most will also look down on a ghetto chinese takeout place etc.. no difference.

I for one love the good buffets, they give decent value for the money and many choices. Some of the best buffets also cost upward $100 a person.

The best ones i had are all in shanghai, where there are 3-4 months wait to even get a weekday dinner reservation like peter lugers here lol, also cost $150+ pp. Vegas has some decent choices as well.

Walked by today Sunday 8/23/15 yes still no action and dust is starting to cover everything inside. A security guard said mall management told him it will open in 3 weeks. Sad.. I posted on 7/3/15 that the workers said 2 to 3 weeks. I would love to know what the hold up is...not only because I am hungry but I thought JC businesses were going to have an easier time opening.

The Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet in the Hudson Mall has the black coverings off of the windows. The place is massive looks it like it took over 3 old/vacant stores . Nice addition to the mall. As far a buffet joints go the interior is really beautiful. It has different seating areas with cool lighting in each. The guys working inside on 7/3/15 said they will open in maybe 2 to 3 weeks.

As for how they can turn a profit while charging $7.99: the same way that nail salons are turning a profit charging $10, or less. They must be underpaying their employees, if they are being paid at all. In between paying rent, mall fees and commissions, stocking the necessary food items to prepare the wide variety of options, utilities, and employees, I doubt that they could break even charging those prices, let alone turn a profit.
