Sorry, couldn't help myself.
Lighthorse does have nice selection of oysters and if you can get one of the few tables outside it's a perfect pair for a lazy afternoon with friends.

Nothing wrong with saying something positive. But, there is a difference between positivism and accuracy.
As bill points out, other established restaurants right here in JC see the same product for less, and another (Lighthorse) for slightly more, and I know that Lighthorse is a great place. It's nice, it's upscale and I would gladly pay more for the same product while sitting at their very nice bar while listening to some piano (if someone is playing) while taking in the scene.

The Bluepoints at Abbodanza are only $1.58 - $1.83 each (depending if you get 1/2 or 1 dozen). They tasted equal to the Bluepoints at Lighthorse for $2.25 (Lighthorse also carries Fisher Islands, yum!)

LOL. I agree that $2 is a good price. The only places I have seen them for cheaper are like seafood festivals in New England and sometimes happy hour prices. I wonder if these will be good oysters. If they are good quality oysters for $2, I will be there often.

What!? You need to get out more. I have had great oysters at many places in Manhattan and Brooklyn for less money. Heck, even hip, trendy places (like Maison Premiere in Williamsburg) have oysters for a bit more during regular hours, and they have oyster happy hour DAILY where you pay $1 / oyster.

Prices seem to match LES's theBoil. However, compared to other states, that's still ~30% higher than say Boiling Crab in CA.

I wonder if that will be the final menu. Unless it is incredibly good, and the place really upscale, I find the prices to be a bit high. $6 for a CUP of gumbo? I guess we will find out soon enough.

The cuisine combination actually sounds pretty great, and given the influx of Vietnamese people in the gulf regions of LA and TX it makes a lot of sense. I really hope they rethink the name, as currently the best-case scenario is someone confusing it for a crappy chain restaurant.

If you mean the bubble tea place, it is a few storefronts down towards Newark.

I'm excited to try this... i believe many vietnamese refugees/ boat people settled in the new orleans area giving rise to this type of cuisine. Should be very interesting/tasty! They'll be filling in an unmet need as there is a dearth of good seafood restaurants downtown...

I'm an appreciator of anything clever so I applaud the effort but yeah, it's a pretty awkward name. Although the concept sounds very cool.

Oh gosh - perhaps they should rethink the name. Maybe I'm missing something as a proleteriat diner - I thought it was a trendy pet store.

is it odd that they're looking for kitchen staff, or is this the norm?
Kitchen duties: -have some food preparation skills -general cooking knowledge -work in a fast paced environment -full and part time availability -nights and week availability -ready to train immediately -must be team oriented
