Anyone who tries to paint Christie as inept because he had staff that were engaged in political retribution MUST also feel the same way about President Obama and Lois Lerner and the IRS. The only difference is that Christie has totally co-operated with all bodies investigating a traffic jam, whereas Obama and Lerner have conspired to destroy evidence and limit access to information that would shine a light on the targeting of conservative groups.

If not, you're being intellectually dishonest.

And for Hillary Clinton supporters, please compare Christie immediately firing the staff members involved, and giving a two hour, fully open press conference to discuss Bridgegate. Clinton has yet to appear in an open forum to answer questions about 30,000 (!) deleted emails, thereby avoiding FOI laws.

The governor, in other words, was guided by willful ignorance, clueless to the events unfolding around him, even those involving dangerous actions taken by people in his own office. Under normal conditions, this might sound like scathing criticism, but in Christie?s case, it?s his best defense. The governor?s backers hope to argue that Christie?s aides crippled a New Jersey community on purpose for partisan political reasons, but the governor was simply too ignorant to be properly blamed. http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-sh ... -bridgegate-scandal#break

A former Port Authority official and ally of Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey is expected to plead guilty on Friday to the first charges stemming from the 16-month federal investigation into the George Washington Bridge lane closings scandal.

The United States attorney for New Jersey, Paul J. Fishman, announced early on Friday that he would hold a proceeding related to the closings at 11 a.m. in front of Judge Susan D. Wigenton to discuss the investigation. He said he would hold a news conference at 1 p.m., breaking his long silence over the inquiry.

David Wildstein, a high school classmate of Mr. Christie?s who ordered the closing of several access lanes to the bridge in September 2013, was expected to plead guilty in United States District Court in Newark, according to people familiar with the case. The United States attorney?s office declined to comment on those or other details beyond the news conference.

Mr. Fishman is expected to announce other indictments in the case, but it was not clear who would be among those indictments.

Indictments May Be Near in George Washington Bridge Scandal

The New York Times
By KATE ZERNIKEAPRIL 8, 2015

It has been falsely predicted many times in the last year, but now it seems to be true: The federal investigation into the lane closings at the George Washington Bridge appears to be coming to a head, with an announcement of indictments as early as next week.

In recent weeks, people close to the case say, federal investigators have interviewed members of the Borough Council in Fort Lee, N.J., the town gridlocked when its three lanes leading to the bridge were narrowed to one for several days in September 2013 ? a move at first bewildering, and later revealed to be the result of orders from aides and allies of Gov. Chris Christie.

The interviews were said to be largely perfunctory, the kind of t-crossing that investigators would do before wrapping up.

Bridgegate Fall Guy Was Inside Man

http://project.wnyc.org/christie/?utm ... =bf9c1813e6#latest-436654

The political operative who helped mastermind the notorious lane closures at the George Washington Bridge ? and is now cooperating with a federal investigation of the Bridgegate scandal ? had more extensive contact with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie?s inner circle than the governor has acknowledged.

But the documents, corroborated by current and former Port Authority and Trenton staffers who requested anonymity because of the ongoing federal investigation, paint a new picture of Wildstein?s role in the Christie Administration. That view chips away at Christie?s and his lawyers? portrayal of Wildstein as a rogue employee largely isolated from the governor who acted with one staffer in closing lanes and causing epic traffic jams on the roadways of Fort Lee for four morning commutes in September 2013.

I am not sure if there is a bigger hack working in the news than Jake Tapper. Please, let us not forget that he got his big break by further embarrassing Monica Lewinsky by going into detail about a date he went on with her during the period of time she was having relations with the president.

At present, Christie is dead in the water. The stories out there about his lavish expenses are not coming from Dems. Jeb wants the whale harpooned.

Poor Monroe! Hillary now the Dem front runner and Christie nearly out of the race...

Remember a year ago Monroe? That ridiculous episode on the GWB?

CNN's Jake Tapper: Christie's 'Bridgegate' got more
attention than Clinton's 'Benghazi'

By DYLAN BYERS |
1/22/14 9:59 PM EST
CNN's Jake Tapper said Wednesday that Chris Christie's "Bridgegate" scandal has received more media coverage
than Hillary Clinton's handling of the Benghazi attack, though he said there were "complicated reasons" for that.
"Obviously, Christie is getting a lot more attention when it comes to Bridgegate than Hillary got when it came to
Benghazi. I think that there are complicated reasons for it," Tapper, the host of CNN's "The Lead," told radio host Hugh
Hewitt.
"I don?t know that Benghazi got less coverage in aggregate than Bridgegate got," he said, attributing the disparity to the
fact that Benghazi became more "a White House story than it was a State Department story."
"The White House took control of it," he said. "Hillary Clinton didn?t go out on the Sunday shows, Susan Rice did,
obviously."
Both Clinton and Christie are seen as the presumptive front?runners for their respective parties in the 2016 presidential
contest, and many anticipate that each candidate's campaign will be plagued by questions about their respective
"scandals."
To date, Christie's "Bridgegate" scandal has dominated the headlines in the New York and Washington press, whereas
Clinton's ties to the Benghazi attack have been kept alive by a conservative campaign aimed at discrediting her
presidential ambitions.

A recent New York Times investigation (http://www.nytimes.com/projects/2013/benghazi/#/?chapt=0) into the attack found
that the attack may indeed have been a response to an American?made video, despite claims by conservative
lawmakers that it had been planned by Al Qaeda.
"In a rational world, that would settle the dispute over Benghazi ..." the Times editorial board wrote
(http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/31/opi ... facts?about?benghazi.html) in response to the article. "But Republicans
long ago abandoned common sense and good judgment in pursuit of conspiracy?mongering and an obsessive effort to
discredit President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who may run for president in 2016."

LOL at this whole week of news. Christie is toast. Forget running for president, he's probably worried about getting sent to prison.

The Port Authority received a federal subpoena last month seeking travel and other records related to David Samson, the agency's former chairman, in an investigation that began with lane closures at the George Washington Bridge but that seems to have expanded in scope, The Record reported today.

Citing sources, the paper said Samson regularly flew on United Airlines out of Newark Liberty International Airport ? which is managed by the Port Authority ? nonstop to and from Columbia Airport in South Carolina. Samson and his wife have a home about 50 miles from the airport.

The flight, which a source said Samson referred to as "the chairman's flight," was usually only about half-full during the 19 months United offered the service. United cancelled the route just days after Samson stepped down as chairman in April.

United Airlines was in negotiations with the Port Authority and the administration of Gov. Chris Christie on expansion of service to Atlantic City, an extension of the PATH train to Newark Airport and other issues while Samson was chair of the bi-state agency.

Samson chaired Christie's transition team before Christie's first term before being appointed to lead the Port Authority.

Partisan fauxrage, as usual. Ever stop to think about the "pricks" who engaged in an endless trial by media, political witchhunt, and expense of million of dollars of taxpayer money?

All for nothing.

No relation.

By the way, it is not Maddow herself who is writing this blog. It is written by Steve Benen who is the producer of her show.

Not 100% all the time, but I just agree with what this guy writes most of the time, just like I agree with what Pebble writes most of the time.

And you know the two people on the forum who most of you disagree most of the time, right? Me too!

aka Hilary shat her pantsuit, and I'm here to help clean it up.

Will Maddow use the same logic about Hilary's incompetence as Sec of State and her staff? I think we know the answer to that.

I?m certain that there is some of the ?We still think he?s guilty?? but that?s how most people feel. The fact is, they didn?t have witnesses testify under oath and that includes the ?innocent? governor. There was no testimony from those involved that were the highest ranking.

I think Christie is a smart enough guy that if he really was behind it, that it would be a verbal interaction and not one done via text message.

Christie would be a lot wiser to never bring up the bridge scandal. There will be no football spiking, if he?s politically smart. If people ask, he can always make the case, but bringing it up himself will remind people that it was his office that acted in a vengeful manner.

Maybe, just maybe, you should pay a little closer attention. I don?t function in a black and white world of wrong and right. I pay far more attention to the nuances, which would make me an incredibly awful ?paid government agent of misinformation.? Well, maybe it wouldn?t be the first time there was a bad hire.
