I had to take a whore's bath with Brita water. Luckily I can brush my teeth at work.

God forbid there's a fire in DTJC.

I guess Fulop forgot to pay the water bill this month. Seriously though, I feel gross.

I think its pretty much the same as how asphalt breaks.. the ground expands and contracts with changes in temperature. Eventually the pipe is exhausted of the capability to handle the stress.

Generally, water mains tend to be quite old, as they are a foundational component of a water system, and not wholly replaced with any ease whatsoever.

United Water does not have email alerts for their news center. Also from what I understand, Jersey City's alerts cannot target specific neighborhoods.

So, the last time we had a problem downtown with the United Water 5 months ago, I created an IFTTT recipe to get email alerts: https://ifttt.com/recipes/105230

The alert actually worked this morning, so you should be able to use it and get an email next time they post information.

It is based on this RSS feed I created that scrapes United news center, here: http://feed43.com/8687311727746317.xml This can be used in any newsreader (like feedly.com).

You can get SMS alerts here: https://ifttt.com/recipes/105716

No, if he wanted to screw with JC he'd figure a way to stop paying 76% of the school costs here and put the burden back on JC taxpayers!

And here is where the thread begins to tailspin.

Nonsense, I only responded to the beginning of the tailspin, didn't I? I suppose you should have posted to mrags first comment, no? Yes.

Apologies, I was grouping the two.

UNITED WATER INVESTIGATES LOW WATER PRESSURE IN DOWNTOWN JERSEY CITY
Jersey City, NJ, Dec 18, 2013, 7:00 am

United Water emergency crews are onsite in Jersey City, responding to customer calls of low water presssure or no water in the downtown area. Emergency crews are working to pinpoint the area where the leak is located, formulating a repair plan. Crews will remain onsite until the problem is repaired, working with the Jersey City MUA and the City to resolve as quickly and safely as possible.

Customers in the area may have low or no water pressure. Additional updates will be posted as more detailed information becomes available.

Hm, wonder if the no pressure in Paulus Hook is a seperate issue. Doesn't sound like its in the scope of this, per the below.

That last update is not at all accurate. Bergen Lafayette is definitely affected. The Foundry is almost without water, with barely any coming out from the faucets.

We had very low pressure on 9th around Coles at 6:45 - probably dropped to zero later but we had already left. Glad I got that shower in, such as it was.
