Personally, I'd be happy if Councilman Fulop was Mayor Fulop. Problem is they're two different people.
Councilman Fulop would have a field day ripping Mayor Fulop apart.

There are a lot of people in Ward E that are seriously regretting the money and support they gave to Steve Fulop's mayoral campaign only to find out the double-cross was on.
We all know what a scoundrel McGreevey is. McG hired Eugene McKnight, a felon convicted of major welfare fraud in Jersey City. McK ran Diane Coleman's successful council campaign. McGreevey's former Chief of Staff Gary Taffet settled an insider trading indictment with the SEC and is now selling insurance to Jersey City and running Fulop's gubernatorial campaign. And then there's McCann, yikes. These are among the the folks that represent the criminal element in Fulop's City Hall my friends and it stinks to high heaven.

Well admittedly I don't know enough about the others. I'm born and raised JC but only really started caring about local politics in the last few years. I'm trying to catch up so forgive me here.

Exactly. Then if this bugs you so much why are you ok with the rest of the gang. McCann, Kenny, McKnight and who knows who else. Birds of a feather flock together. All of McGreedy's vendors and consultants are hitting town for the pickings. What about the contract that just went to Lesniak? One of the new hires in the Law Department could do the job and save us $$$$.

Call me crazy, but I find it very hard to believe that there isn't a single qualified person with less baggage to the job of McGreedy. That's quite the load of BS you're sporting there.
Fulop is rapidly losing my vote next time around, because while some of actions are good, his company is less than desirable.

First, I do not know john1952 and I supported Dan Levin for council. Remember, he ran against Candice and Fletcher for Ward E. I never asked anyone to share my views on corruption and taxes. Neither john1952 or Fletcher have asked me for my opinion when they write on these subjects. But I can see, independent thinkers do scare some people here.

Is the fear that McGreevy starts up an ex-con "loosies-to-play" scam, or that we'll all be damned to hell for using JC tax dollars to employ a gay ex-catholic?

Yvonne are you and Fletcher/john1952 going to do this until he inevitably loses his reelection bid in 2017?
We get it- you don't like the McGreevy hire, but guess what...he is super qualified for the role he is assuming. Unless of course you think prisoner reentry is a waste of funds, which wouldn't surprise me considering Fletcher is a known Newt Gingrich adherent. To compare hiring that to taking bribes from an FBI informant is such a reach. I think you and team Fletch need to do a little deeper digging.

During the final weeks of the elections, Fulop hit Healy hard with videos of corruption with Dwek. Healy is an adult but the fact is, Dwek was trading up to avoid jail time . So now that Fulop is mayor, what does he do? Hire McGreevey and people associated with McGreevey. The latest is Lesinak who will receive a contract on the Parking Authority. McGreevey's administration was so corrupt, one of the newspapers did a cartoon editorial and called him McGreedy. I did expect a higher ethical standard from Fulop.

If anyone expects the mayor to fix everything completely and absolutely correctly immediately, you're just insane. I've gotten more communication from him about progress and programs over the last 3 months than I did in Healy's 8 years as mayor. Decades of corruption and mismanagement don't get fixed overnight. Some people seem to think that there are pristine, qualified, unvarnished applicants teeming to fill every position in local government. Wake up. I'm very happy with the steps that Mayor Fulop has taken. He's got a lot of work to do. I wouldn't be in his shoes, trying to please every nitpicker (especially some idiots on this board) for anything.

Hi Everyone... just reading this whole thing now. And none of this is me.
Four years is a long way away. But considering that spending is UP UP UP and Team Fulop (including Ms. Osborne) just gave us a tax increase.... Most likely I will run again. We have to get the spending under control, and right now, Mayor Fulop is trying to position himself for Governor at Jersey City's expense. Thanks. Fletcher Gensamer P.S. I knew I wouldn't win. I wasn't on a ticket and wasn't riding Stephen Fulop's coat-tails with a $million-plus marketing budget. However, I did better than the other two mayoral candidates in Ward E in total # of votes, and also beat 6 other independent candidates in Jersey City in total number of votes. Not to shabby for a first timer. P.P.S. Also, not a tea-partier. Registered Democrat. Go to Hudson County voter registration office and feel free to look it up. I'm just a concerned citizen who is concerned that out of control taxes hurt Jersey City.

I have never attended a tea party meeting in my life but Fulop did place Marie Tauro, a tea party member, (story was in the JJ) on one of the Boards. So what does that make the Mayor?

I hadn't heard of Eugene McKnight's criminal history. He stole millions of dollars from taxpayers and should never have been allowed back into government.
Fulop is being too forgiving with these criminals. I guess it's hard to find an untainted Jersey City politician, but we need to demand better. Coleman, it seems, has accepted the criminal element: "Coleman...did not immediately apologize for ?joking? about the number of Ward F residents with criminal records" Keep up the pressure. Don't be complacent. Demand better. You might not be appreciated by everyone here, John, Frank & Company, but as long as you remain truthful, you're doing a good thing.

That said, it's important not to just drink any politician's Kool Aid and ignore the things they do that run counter to their philosophy.
I voted for Fulop and think it's absolute garbage he and Candice blindly support Booker and had the balls to attempt to bring Rahm Emanuel to JC. That, on top of adding McGreedy to the payroll, and this voter isn't liking what he is seeing. John is off the rails, no doubt. But it's incumbent on JC residents to keep Fulop's administration from becoming a new iteration of the Healy/Hague eras. Quote:

this. john1952/Fletcher has already stated he plans to waste more of his money and run for office in 4 years, so you can bet he and Yvonne and their religious right tea party crew will be representing the anti-Fulop contingency until 2017. As someone earlier said, best not to feed the trolls and let them obsess over the Mayor and his Council.

We are rid of Mayor Healy. The slate does not reset clean. Fulop should distance himself from the Mcknights, McCann and such. Hopefully the worst is all out on McGreevey so Jersey City is not tarnished. I don't think it can be worse then bid rig. Is it finished? I hope so. Threatening to sue news sources also sends real warning signs. I just pray he would stick to cleaning up Jersey City and cutting the budge. We can ill afford the Healy budget to become the new normal and all of the Healy cronies ending up back in city hall.
