Slow slow service. I know it's a "soft" opening so hope they will "learn" from their mistakes and improve with time.

Yes, Jeff Favia.

Did he own Favia in Hoboken? It closed a long time ago.

Wow, that's short sighted. They have planters that divide their side walk seating from the rest of the plaza so how close could vendors possibly get? Do they not realize that vendors = increased foot traffic = better business for them? Plus the whole, a positive experience gets told to one person, a negative one gets told to 10 people...

I'm interested to see how this pans out over the summer.

I got a look at the breakfast menu tonight, looks pretty good and actually bit less expensive than Skinner's and Hamilton Inn.

They're also going to have dinner and a movie night, lobster night and happy hour muscles for $1.75.

The beer was $7 and the burger ($11 for a bacon cheeseburger) was OK, but nothing special.

I'll certainly be back once they have the full menu available, if for no other reason than to spend a few less bucks on brunch.

I am a bit of a old-school cocktail junky... I am pumped to get a good read on the 'prohibition bar' downstairs... I am pleased hear the drinks are stiff - the good ones usually are!

Burgers are good and huge! I like the open front aspect of the place too, something that seems late to catch on in Jersey City.

Why do they call it Grove Square? Are they trying to de facto rename the Plaza?

I was actually talking about something a little deeper than that, but I'll stop if I'm confusing you.

I guess I must have missed all the innovations in the drinking scene in Hoboken over the last decade. Last I checked most of the same places are still there and the new ones seem pretty similar to this place.

Anyway, there's no way in hell I'm going to complain about a new place opening in a spot that should have had something 5 years ago.

Yeah that was just for the soft opening. It's a very nice place, and looks like it will be pretty cool, but it's expensive. $7 for the beers we got, and they weren't exactly specialty beers. But I guess you have to charge more to pay off the absurd rent they have.

Doubt it will be cash only. I think this was just for their soft opening.

I believe the pizza side is being run by Charlie, formerly of La Rustique, which I'm happy about.

Death and Co. is an amazing bar. If this place is half as innovative with their cocktails and attention to detail I would be shocked.

I'm not sure how many people have been to Please Don't Tell in New York, but I'd guess the speakeasy could be setup a little like that. The entrance could be inside the pizza place.

Even though the concept is a little gimmicky, PDT and Death and Company are incredible bars that are constantly packed out.
