Good to know that they do have challah.

....can you guys post the prices for the goods you have so far purchased??? Thanks!

1. I was there at about 11 today - prime challah purchasing time - what they have is a loaf brioche. Brioche is made with lots of butter it is probably not an appropriate substitute for people looking for a dairy-free bread.
2. Isn't there a proverb - if you have to ask the price of a pain au chocolat you probably can't afford one? or maybe it's a yacht.

That price seems digestable $3 for a croissant, I just hope the size is ample and not puny.

They are not huge, they are standard size. They are however fresh and flaky. I gave this spot 2.5 stars on yelp because of its coffee which was shameful. It was week and it almost taste like instant, but hopefully this can be fixed. I paid $10 for 2 coffee and 2 pastries. Which I think is fair.

I enjoyed my croissant so much that I decided to re start Atkins right away or I would be in serious, serious trouble!

Went there for the first time this morning. Awesome brioche, and much more reasonably priced than its predecessor in that space. I suspect I'll become a regular there...

I tried the chocolate almond croissants, they are amazing. I have to limit my intake of these things or resign myself to buying a larger wardrobe.

Just went this morning. The croissant was fantastic (and not overly huge).

I agree that the coffee is pretty weak (literally and figuratively). Sometimes I don't want an espresso. And when I'm having a rich piece of bread, I'd prefer a dark rich coffee.

One weird thing, they're still putting up decoration and working on things. There was a guy drilling right above where the microwave/prep area was. And they didn't put a cover over anything. Wall dust from the drilling settling all over the prep area.

However, I AM SO HAPPY IT'S HERE!

This place is AWESOME.

I was bummed to see Made with Love close (because I love local businesses), but this is a much better bakery.

My only critique is that the place was a bit dishevelled - the floors needed sweeping, tables wiped down, general straightening up. It's nit-picky of me, but it would be a much more inviting place if they put as much care into the customer experience as they do their baked goods. The whole "vibe" of their product is very elegant, and it would be nice to see that continued into the cafe itself.

I am going to give this place a try but am a little annoyed that they don't post prices........nor specifics on what they have on their website. I am always on the Look out for good challah, rye or pumpernickel loaves....and of course any whole wheat or multi-grain french bread is a must. Since I mostly avoid bread....once in a while i like to treat myself with said carb(y) goodness....along side some soup or stew...or just some good old EVO. Yum!

I emailed them last week....and not a peep.

I get the annoyance on the website, but they have two locations and may price differently, so I understand. That being said we do now get consistent hours, tasty food and nice employees. Seems to be a recepie that works since the line was out the door Saturday morning.

Amazeballs... LOL! Best term EVER!

I spoke with the one staff member there for a bit and asked how it's going and a few questions about the 2 locations.

The JC location doesn't have a bread oven yet, so they are using the Hoboken location to basically make 2X the amount of bread, and then hoofin' it over to JC every day. She said it can be a little stressful in the Hoboken location because of that. The other things that she thinks they may change is at the Hoboken location there's a toaster oven and warming plate for them to use for customers; JC doesn't have those yet.

Just some interesting intel. I imagine these improvements will come with time and once they get settled in JC (and making more $$$).

So far we have zero complaints...amazing (or amazeball) addition to JC.

My only suggestion: they need labels for their food...almost every customer has to ask, "what's that?"

Had a slice of apricot tart on Saturday and it was exceptional. Whatever it cost, it was worth the price.

Mushroom quiche was also delicious - creamy and light with little punches of herbs throughout. Spicy tuna sandwich was yummy but the bread was a little hard to chew through.

One morning I left my chocolate croissant on the counter :O but I called them and they had held it for me. So I walked back and enjoyed. 20 minutes well spent.

Only suggestion? Leave your strollers outside. It's too tight in there. No suggestions for Choc o Pain. You're perfect.

Your annoyance will dissolve as fast as the the pastry in your mouth once you get there. I get a feeling it's going to be one of those places like Thirty Acres that will make their own rules and we'll all abide due to pure deliciousness.

Lolll Chama and PathH8tr, glad to see others experiencing the Unbearable Lightness of Eating - French pastries, as for bread, remember it is just air! Yes the chocolate almond croissants are addictive but I still hope that they make it their most favored staple...

Imho, the best croissants are from Payard in NYC but Choc-o-Pain is more than making it on this side of the river...

PathH8Tr, loved your comments, lol!!

Gotta say, we are also celebrating the new bakery in the neighborhood! I tried those chocolate almond croissants and they are absolutely delicious and addictive. I also brought home the braided baguette and my husband almost wiped it out in a single sitting and asked to please "don't buy them again" or he will be in serious trouble!! That says something about how yummy it was...

OMFG, went there today. No words. Or lots of words. Light, fluffy, dance in my mouth, fresh, layers of pastry so delectable - I seriously have NEVER in all my years had a pastry THAT GOOD since Europe. BEYOND. The lemon meringue was amazeballs. I'm not a desert guy, I'm not a pastry fan and I guess it's because I'VE NEVER TASTED SOMETHING SO GOD DAMNED GOOD. I feel sorry for those suckers living so close to this place, they won't fit in their pants for long!

First visit around 4pm on a Saturday - the croissants were AMAZING and the baguette we brought home was the REAL DEAL. We're really lucky to have something like this in JC.

picked up 4 chocolate croissants this morn ($11.26) and my daughter says it's pretty good. not quite as good as a Parisienne croisant, but much better than, say, Au Bon Pan

Been going to the one in Hoboken almost daily for the last few months. Best espresso in town, and the ham and cheese croissant is addictive--cheese and a small sliver of ham baked right inside. Seriously couldn't be happier about this place being here. Great people too.

It's the same layout as Made With Love, with small tables in the front and along the length of the store. I believe they are using the same old church pews for seating along the wall.

Stopped in yesterday around 6pm and picked up a baguette. Price was $2.70, found it comparable to those from Marco & Pepe and Rustique.

It is looking very busy already. By the time I finished my brunch they had run out of chocolate croissants (aka as pains au chocolat), no signs of chocolate almond croissants either. Will have to wake up at 5 tomorrow morning to get a chance, damn. The raisin swirls (aka pains au raisin) are great, top quality notch!
