Massey- who?s that? LOL ! That?s how MANY/MOST former ward E now ward F voters feel after this latest JC ?show?. Many reached out to her and the best she could do was email responses from an aide. Ridiculous!!! See you later Michele!

Anyone heard anything from the Ward F Councilperson Massey?
This ballot sh%tshow is predominantly hitting her newly acquired former Ward E residents. Fulop has been all over this but I haven't seen a thing from Massey. Am I missing something or is the new council woman asleep at the wheel here?

I was #43 at 6:50 PM at Metropolis Towers Bldg 2, 270 Luis Marin Blvd, for Ward No. 05, District No. 02. This is eight blocks from my house.
The ladies here spoke perfect English and found my name with no problem. I did spell it out my last name to them. It's a habit. No ID required. Since only U. S. citizens can vote, the poll workers should only be U. S. citizens. Are the new districts based on the number of voters or based on the number of people who completed the census? I don't see any need to move my polling place from P.S. 16 to here. It seems the majority of people in the neighborhood do not vote anyway. I mean, only 42 voted before 6:50 PM.

The 2 biggest shenanigans on these BOE elections imo are:
1. The separation of the BOE vote from other votes lead to lower turnout, and manipulation by "special interests". 2. Forcing people to show up in person at voting centers. Why can't people vote online as well? The system seems designed to keep turnout low. Gerrymandering?

YESTERDAY the polling place locator told me I was to vote at Metropolis Towers, as did my sample ballot, which is different than my old polling place but still in the same neighborhood. However, when I looked at the polling place locator TODAY it told me to go to my old polling place. Confused, I went to the new one on my sample ballot. Not realizing there are polling places in BOTH of those towers I went to the wrong one and was promptly turned away by an unhelpful challenger who didn't want to hear the word ' provisional' (my name was not in the book.) I then went to my old polling place and the helpful ladies said I should go to the OTHER tower, as that was where one of the ladies working at my old place had to go to vote. I went to the other tower and voted without incident as my name was on the book.
To summarize, the sample ballot tells me to vote at the new place, and I am on the books at my new place, but the online locator today says to go to my old place but yesterday told me to go to my new place. Yes, someone is either stupid or corrupt, but probably both. (And if you can't follow my post please accept my apologies.) But, I did vote!

yeah like PBW..if you post here that you voted try and recall your number. Especially the after work voters who will start to post soon. I know someone who voted in Society Hill One this afternoon she was in the 80?s. *** **** And I have to put my post from the ?mistake? thread over here it seems appropriate?never fails ...same crap since I was 18... Quote: Even if the Board of Elections somehow thinks this is cleared up?just think of the lines and confusion at the polling places when voters names are not in the book and a provisional ballot needs to be filled out. Just what people need in the morning trying to get to work. Or later on after work when they are trying to get home. On top of trying to get their taxes done before the April 17th deadline.

Just voted at PS28... Not only could the woman at my table not speak English at all, she couldn't spell, nor, apparently, could she read. I handed her my drivers license to make it easier for her to understand my name and address, and she stared at it (for what seemed like an eternity), then asked another woman for help. Woman number two read my ID to her, in Spanish, then helped her find my name.... Amazeballs!

I saw that during the election of Gov. Christie: Some campaign worker leading in a couple very elderly people. One man was very confused (reminded me of my grandmother when she was dying of Alzheimer's), spoke no English and was barely coherent in the language he did speak. I watched as the poll workers try to figure out what Ward he was from. Not able to find a name in the books, I then witnessed the campaign guy get him a provisional ballot and then helping him fill it out. I am convinced this 'voter' didn't even know what planet he was one let alone who was running for office.

Don't happen in the Heights? You gotta be kidding. Today, when a poll worker was asked why the flag wasn't hung outside & the signage indicating this is where an election was being held wasn't in place he said he thought that was only done when there was a real election. PS #8 is notorious for fights with PS #28 a close second. There is nothing like spelling your name & the person working the books has trouble stringing the letters together. And then you have the people who have driven seniors to the poll location & then get in the booth with them. And let's not forget all the seniors in senior housing who has a certain someone help them fill out their absentee ballots & suggesting which boxes would be the best to check. Oh yeah, nothing ever happens in the Heights.

I would too, and I don't think the poll workers are "in on it" per se, I think that they were picked because they were slow/lazy/dumb. Also, conspiracy or no conspiracy, most of the other elections I voted in there were at least two, sometimes three different poll workers sitting at the table and they are not nearly as slow as the one person who was there today. But as I also said, none of this may even matter because isn't the typical turnout for school board elections something like 5% or so?

In my experience, the poll workers seem to be not all that familiar with the order of the alphabet. I usually have to point out my name.

Poll workers get paid. They are typically women - usually either older or non-working mothers. You don't need a vast network of obstructionist poll workers to affect an outcome - just a thing or two at a key location or two. Last year, the polls at Van Vorst Church opened more than an hour late - there were two large, high voting districts there and quite a few people who could only vote in the morning, on their way to work, didn't get to vote as a result. This year, the faulty sample ballot, seemingly conflicting instructions from the county and poll workers and the very odd redistricting. Like I said - doesn't take hundreds of poll workers to be "in on it." Funny these things don't seem to happen in the Heights.

I sorta feel like you're giving "the machine" too much credit in thinking they can find people to sit at tables and try and "take too much time" finding a name in hopes that people will just walk away.
i look at it as - who actually has the time to sit at a table all day and look at names in the books? not most people who have jobs! Maybe the only people to man the books are dummies with no jobs? Is that mean to say, yeah, but I don't mean it to be mean, i'm just saying every election we've gone to over the past decade, there's always two people at our Ward table "trying to find our name".... i don't think they're intentionally incompetent, i just think it's coincidence....

I voted at McNair today (I'm in District E-10 I think) without much of an incident, although I must say the one poll worker sitting at the table was a lot slower than I've usually experienced when voting. There was one person in front of me and he took a while to find the person's name in the roll book. Then when it was my turn, he said he couldn't find my name in the roll book. I immediately pointed to it on the page he had opened. I signed and then was able to vote.
It's like he was either purposefully dragging his feet, or Hudson County BOE deliberately put one incompetent person there so fewer people would be able to vote. Of course, turnout for school board elections is usually so pitiful anyway that I don't think that anyone who wants to vote today will be prevented from doing so. There won't ever be a very long line. I hate making allegations that are based only on a hunch but Steve Fulop also alluded to this - it's like the Hudson County BOE is deliberately trying to mess things up in Ward E and cut down on the votes for Fulop's endorsed candidates. But that's just my opinion.
