More choices for all of us. I'm sure there is enough demand for Tommy's, Gia and Torico's during this hot summer!

I hope the selection is greater and more traditional along with having enough product in stock. The new GIA gelato joint on Newark Ave might give them a run for their money.

Tough choice tonight between the mango or blood orange sorbet....or the almond gelato...or the tiramisu.

When I spoke to the man himself (perhaps 3 weeks ago?), he said he's aiming for a June opening... Can't wait!

Thanks for the responses. It would be nice if he put a sign up saying he'd reopen the store in the spring but I guess now I know.

By the way, if you want to know how high the water was over there, you can still see the high-water mark on the windows at Tommy Two-Scoops.

Brightside's kitchen, which is below the restaurant, was also badly flooded and Tommy focused his energies on getting Brightside reopened first. Two Scoops is definitely reopening in Spring.

My understanding from T2S is that he plans to renovate for a Sping reopenning. Felt that it did not make sense to rebuild and risk the chance of another winter storm/flood hitting the store... meantime the Brightside is open for business.

I've noticed that Tommy Two Scoops appears to be closed anytime I've walked by (during business hours) in the past two months. However, there is no sign or any indications on the door.

Does anyone know what is going on?

I was there last night and they've gotten the back cleaned up quite nicely. It was a great spot given the weather.

I grabbed a scoop of Rum Raisin last night and I have to say, it was amazing. Great rum flavor and lots of chopped raisins, could be the best ice cream/gelato I've had, seriously. It was rather heavy handed on the rum which I absolutely loved.

If it's around, I urge all Rum Raisin fans to grab a scoop and urge Tommy to keep it in the summer rotation and not change it at all.

Love the food, but have to agree about courtyard area, under stand new construction, but that back area was totally uninviting... mish mash is being kind. more like chaos clutter, customers should not have to take 5 minutes to look for an appropriate seats.

With the nice weather, who wants to sit inside new seating area? But to sit and look at what looks like a "pile" of patio furniture because there is no room for it... get rid of the fountain create mor space, especially in the back by church.

I've been yo Tommy Two Scoops twice and both times the gelato has been top notch. Back garden area is a great asset / fun draw - especially for those of us with kids.

One caveat - with a mishmash of furniture, fountains, construction debris, etc., it looks as though it was decorated by Sanford & Son. Hopefully, they'll get it cleaned up soon.

I agree. I love their gelato and stopped by there for breakfast for the first time yesterday. We ordered a couple of bagel sandwiches and had a quick bite on the back deck before heading to the farmer's market. Tom also seems to being working with Liberty Humane..

Tommy Two Scoops has become my favorite place in JC for quick, good lunches and dinners. The gelato is great, but what brings me back is the food -- the paninis, bbq, and wraps are always amazing and very inexpensive. I eat there at least three times a week.

The owner and employees have never been anything but extremely nice, and give spectacular service -- a rarity in the area.

The kicker is that they welcome pet owners (there's a large outdoor patio in back, and seating in front). I'm never willing to leave my dog outside while I run in somewhere to pick up, so Tommy gets a lot of my business because I can go in with my dog. They always have free treats for her too.

I love Tommy Two Scoops. They're always switching out the flavors, so every time I go, there's something new to try. Some of the flavors seem really odd (wasabi, olive oil and parmesan, coconut curry, etc) but most are really good. The folks behind the counter are friendly, and it's always a pleasant experience.

Last time I was there the owner (Tommy?) was telling me that they're going to enclose a portion of the back deck so that they'll have a small indoor dining area. There's plenty of space back there, so there will still be a large patio area too.

Nice write-up on NJ.com. He is planning another eatery on Bright Street. Not so sure its the best location, though.

I just had a party at Tommy Two Scoops last night and had to write a post because they did such an amazing job! All of my friends loved the backyard and the food was great. They were very accommodating and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended!!!

I finally stopped by Tommy Two Scoops today. I ordered the santa fe wrap ... YUM! i couldnt finish the other half. hours later when i got hungry i ate the other half and it was even YUMMIER than the first half. I think all the ingredients soaked up more that's probably why it was even tastier.

the truffle fries is soo good too. i love fries that thin.

i'm definitely going back ....

the only thing is that the location is hidden away from foot traffic. if they can fix their exterior to make it more noticeable to foot traffic they'll get more people coming in. i mean across the street is a vacant lot. it's a pretty quiet street too. so far i'm satisified. their gelato looked good too. got a scoop of the white chocolate granola... YUMMMMO. unfortunately its bad on the waistline. lol.

The 2 scoop is the better choice and spending a fin is par for the course.

The reference I made to the vanilla taste was not because of the establishment but the flavor in general. Vanilla is usually a plain bland like flavor to begin with no matter where it is purchased. Tommy 2 Scoops did a good job making the vanilla gelato

I tried this place last weekend and was very pleased. Sadly I didn't try the gelato because I just got a panini to go, but the turkey pesto panini was very good-- and served on great rosemary foccacia. It's in sort of an out-of-the-way spot for a lot of people--no stores around it-- but there were customers coming and going while I was waiting for my sandwich. Great place!

We tried out Tommy's this past weekend and we were really impressed with everything.
We had gotten food to enjoy in the back garden patio section. The basket of chicken tenders was very meaty & juicy and my husband really enjoyed his Cuban panini.

Afterwards we got our gelatos to go. We had mango, lemoncello, pear, chocolate, blood orange and stracciatella. The chocolate was awesome. My favorite was the blood orange. My husband loved the stracciatella.
Yes, we are gluttons.

We will definitely go back to try more flavors.

BTW, the single scoop for $3.50 is really two scoops now. For $3.50 you get to choose 2 different flavors or two scoops of the same flavor. And then the two scoop is now really three scoops and so on. This change started this past weekend. And you can get pints to go for $6.95.
