Last time I heard which was a couple of weeks ago, it was to be the first week of Feb. I hope it does. I had to walk all the way to Marco & Pepe from Hamilton Park to be rejected at the door because the wait was too long last weekend.

any word on an opening date? looks like the exterior is done and they've got light fixtures installed. can't really tell how much work still needs to be done inside, but i'm hopeful and excited!

I have been by there a few times this week and there was no activity that I could see happening inside. Looks like the floor still needs finishing and the old wait-station still is not ready. Does seem that they are very close to ready but it has all come to a grinding halt.

That's what the new owner originally said. I walked by the other day and they still have a lot of work to do. Walls are stripped bare and the floors still need to be refinished. Contractors dragging their feet?

I was mistaken about the walls. I was by there yesterday and it seems that they have added a bit of a rustic look to the walls on one side of the bar. A sort of simple, distressed looking wood planks. Might be closer to opening than I thought!

YES! Please, please, please, a really good decent burger -preferrably half a pound of Angus beef, curly fries (or sweet potato fries), and fresh Guiness.

We don't need another "gourmet-type" establishment.

Is this too much to ask?

I'm still upset that they took the words "Ale House" out of the name. The words Ale House make the place sound warm, comforting, and classic. I will admit, however, that "Inn" is an acceptible replacement. Inn also sounds, warm, comforting, and classic.

LOL.

Can't wait to check it out. I hope they have a decent beer selection, with 4-5 REAL microbrews (aka, not Blue Moon), and a really good burger.

Correct, I didn't really think it was an Inn. I was having some fun. But if they bought the building (condos or aparments there?), then a b&b is possible. Quiet corner. Yard. Etc.

But, I do believe they are trying to project a certain image, though I am not upset about it. I'm happy about it. The Alehouse needed some serious rebranding.

Thank you both for your brevity and clarity of purpose.

The Lincoln Inn ---- a true JC institution ---- provides no accommodation, neither is it a boarding house, nor a bed-and-breakfast, and I don't think people are at all confused by the title!

Great thing about this board ---- utterly inane observations like the one quoted above. Or did I mean insane, not inane?

no problem.

but seriously, how can you tell that they are too self important to call themselves a pub? getting that from just a name? come on now.

and questioning the name and whether they will offer accommodation? that's just you being silly.

can't anyone just be positive for once? a new restaurant in the neighborhood is a good thing. criticizing the place based on the name.....yes, is crazy.

I wonder if they got a certificate of no effect to paint the exterior.

Looks as though they're doing a nice job painting all the exterior woodwork (doors, window framing) BLACK.

Could come out looking very sleek and "executive" to resurrect a nice 1980s term.

Maybe they cam leave the masking on the windows or just do a shoddy overspray everywhere to help with that c. 1993 Dinkins-era Varick Street gin mill vibe!

Seriously though, I wish them the best of luck.

I wasn't freaking out or acting a little insane. Perhaps the behavior of others on this site has your hair standing on end or your nerves on edge.

I was simply interpreting the words I read, their meaning, and the impression created. When logos are made and brand names are chosen, image is important. Etc. You know this. I was providing my interpretation of that impression.

That is not insane. That is the content which fuels a discussion on a discussion-board.

But, thank you for making my return to this discussion board so unpleasant.

You'll have to speak to the wench upstairs for "accommodation."

You can call me Aaron Burr, from the way I'm droppin' Hamilton's...

Looking forward to the new incarnation, hope new ownership/management keeps the menu simple/minimal, ala the OG HPAH.

Really? Was there speculation that he was a closet Jeffersonian?

An orphaned, illegitimate ginger kid from the West Indies. I struggle with some of his strong-form federalism but his ability to become what he became just blows me away. The original American success story.

Well, as Lighthorse Harry Lee is holding down the fort, so to speak, in Paulus Hook, it's only right that A-Ham is at the other end of downtown.
