It sounds like an inside job. They obviously knew the money was there in both cases. I live near Terrace on Hutton, you can "see the money" parked in the driveways. Alot of business owners live in the area, so having cash like this on hand is common.

I can't wait till we go to a cashless society. We can "trade" units instead of physical money. This will also enable us to "account" for the passing of all monitary payouts. No more reaching for a buck in the morning while buying a cup of coffee, or fumbling for change for the bus. Imagine holding up someone for their code number. "Stick em up and give me your code"

Guess he let the wrong person know about how much he was holding cause I doubt they randomly chose him and got that lucky. But who knows.....

Restaurant or bar owner perhaps?
Either that, or someone up to no good.

Jersey City Cops: Man robbed of $9,000 at gunpoint
By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal December 21, 2009, 9:34PM A Jersey City man who said he was carrying $9,000 got cleaned out when he and a friend were approached by a masked gunman early this morning in the Heights, officials said. When police responded to Terrace Avenue at 5:23 a.m., the 33-year-old Palisade Avenue man and 55-year-old Hopkins Avenue man said the incident began while they were picking up a friend on Zabriskie Street, reports said. They told police a man approached them near the friend's home, ordered them back into their car and forced them to drive him around at gunpoint, reports said. The gunman ordered them to hand over their money and then told them to drop him off at Terrace Avenue and Thorne Street, where he ran away, reports said. The Zabriskie Street friend said he ran away and called police when he saw the pair being forced into the car, reports said, adding that police searched the area but did not find the robber. It wasn't clear from the police report which victim was robbed of $9,000 or why he was carrying that much money. Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 915-1345.
