Ommegang is definitely one of my favorite beers, and the price has been dropping recently. Used to be $10 for a 4-pack now I can find it for $7.

Where will be this Zepplin Hall of which you speak?
My list: 1) Caledonian 80/- aka 80 Shillings: fond memories of Scotland and the lack of availability in the U.S. probably contribute to my rating. http://www.caledonian-brewery.co.uk/80_home.html 2) Murphy Stout: A simply wonderful beverage that needs more availability here. http://www.murphys.com/index.php 3) Ommegang Abbey Ale: The one beer to have when you\'re only having one. Also, it's brewed in nearby upstate NY. 4) Jeebus homebrew: Something like an 2/3 amber ale mixed with 1/3 stout. Unavailable these days but I'm inspired now. 5) Smuttynose IPA: If I hadn't lost my love of IPAs this would be #1. Brewed in the Free State. 6-7) Whatever is new. 8) Sierra Nevada IPA: available many places and good if you like hops. 9) Brooklyn Lager: available many places in NYC on tap and good if you want to drink a lot or like lager. 10) Bud et al.: nothing like a nice watery beer after a workout. Yummm, beer....

Haven't checked the beer list lately. But Marco and Pepe served Kolsch, albeit in bottles.

I went to Rehoboth Beach, DE for a long weekend last fall, where the brewery is located. Rehoboth itself is worth the trip, and the Dogfish Head restaurant is worth a look too, if only to pick up a few six packs of any flavor of Dogfish you want. I like pretty much any of them

I am a big fan of just about every Sierra Nevada product, Victory out of eastern PA is quite nice, hogardeen (spelling?) is great in the summertime, in a pinch a bud or bud light is my swill of choice. In fact I am going to go find a beer from my fridge right now....

No love for India Pale Ale in this thread so far?
I like it - very hoppy, some might call it bitter, but I like it that way. Triumph Brewery in Princeton brews a mean IPA that they serve on tap. Other than that, several boutique microbreweries make good bottled IPA. The only one I don't care for is the Sierra Nevada one.

Here is an incredible article in the New Yorker on Dogfish Brewery and the new trend of super-refined high end "extreme" brews -- and why beer might be more sophisticated than wine: Dogfish Brewery

Had a bottle of Cooperstown's Abbey Ale last night. Pretty good. Also like their wheat ale.
Saison Dupont is always a winner as well.

Big fan of the Liberty Ale.
Big fan of Hoegaarden. Delirium Tremens I've had and won't likely have again- to say the least it ain't a beer you can drink all night.... 3 would probably get you a pretty fat buzz. Smithwick's is a recent favorite- Not sure why. Just got on a bit of a kick with it. I'll pretty much drink anything except for Bud. Even the other "mass produced" (aren't they all?) beers of that ilk are drinkable in a pinch (I'm not above picking up a sixer of the Silver Bullet). Bud just has some sort of aftertaste that doesn't make me very happy. Keep em coming. GWB

I consider myself somewhat of a Beer Buff. In anticipation of opening of the Beer garden Zeppelin Hall's, rumored to be in spring 2009, I am getting extra beer crazed.
To pass on some beer cheer, here are my TOP 10 BEERS! I tried to keep it German themed, but a couple belgium and domestic brews could not be ignored. To all other aficionados, enthusiants, or drinkers.... please add your own picks. I am open to trying new beers and maybe overlooked a few. When I get more time I will do a top 10 beer pairings list that will blow your mind. Enjoy! 1. [Ayinger] Celebrator Doppelbock (Belgium) 2. Delirium Tremens (Belgium) 3. Weihenstephaner Original (Germany) 4. Anchor Liberty Ale (San Francisco) 5. Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest (Germany) 6. Paulaner Hefe-Weiss bier (Germany) 7. Duvel (Belgium) 8. Dogfish Indian Brown Ale (Delaware) 9. Rogue Dead Guy Ale (Oregon) 10. Hoegaarden (Belgium)
