I knew I remembered the name Guy Catrillo!

Remember the Jersey City 9/11 ceremony where they planned to release doves but could only find poultry pigeons who, when released, couldn't fly and were crashing people and buildings and had to be rescued?

ANOTHER INCOMPETENT BEING TAPPED TO "RUN" THINGS!

New York Times link....

Quote:
''Without a doubt it beats what could have happened to them,'' said Guy Catrillo, a chief organizer of Jersey City's 9/11 Memorial Committee.

I don't think anyone "snickers" at Dan Levin or anyone else like him, ie: the Kesslers, Geoff Elkind, Maureen Crowley, etc. They happen to be very well respected by the current and past administrations. They all my not agree with each other, but people like him who take a stand and attack the issues and not the individuals always will remain respected and IMO a true class act.

As far as ?the machine? goes and not voting for any "machine" candidates you have now just wiped out everyone running for Mayor and to date all the people they have announced on their ticket for the exception of Dan Levin and his group. I can?t see how anyone can call out Healy without calling out Manzo, Smith and even the Independent. Let the Google search and the Jersey Journal archives be your friend.

If that's true, then Levin's the man.

Sometimes people become so entrenched that they can't see the real problem.

Thank you for the list. Now I know who NOT to vote for. If Fulop loses, I might have to move. He is the only one who actually cares about his constituents.

Its a pitty that when it comes time to vote, that there isn't the option that 'none of the above is worthy of the role of Mayor or Councillor' because that box would have the most amount of votes.
If it did and that selection won, we would have another election and no previous candidate could have their name on the ballot paper.
Dream a little dream !

With all due respect to everyone who isn't an election cycle troll and is trying to argue that one ticket is more or less of: "the machine", "dual job holders", "family members", "has/had a government job", blah, blah, blah....you will need to find a different argument to push your candidates of choice.

To date: everyone announced on ALL the tickets (for the exception of Dan Levin and company) are, is, was, will be once again...one or more of the above. And, like it or not is, was, will be once again...aligned with each other in one way or another once this election is over and the next one begins.

All I can say about all of this is that the number of registered voters in JC is shockingly low.

As do Police Sergeant James Carroll and Board of Ed employee Lori Serrano on the Manzo ticket.

And Calvin E. Hart, a Jersey City homicide investigator and former councilwoman Frances O. Thompson, director of the Hudson County Office of Minority and Women Business Enterprise on the Smith ticket.

Sottollano on Healy's ticket is actually retired. True, from a city job. But retired, nonetheless.

More to come as Manzo and Smith fill out their tickets, I'm sure.

I have a question.Does everyone on the Healy slate have a
a job with Hudson County government or a Jersey City agency or married to someone who does?Is there one person on that slate who is simply employed somewhere in the private sector or are they all dual /aspiring dual government job holders?

Any right answer is appreciated.

I'm registered and will vote for whoever's up against Fulop. I used to support Fulop, but he lost me forever with his Montgomery Gardens actions.

+1 With increasing crime and high taxes it's time to get rid of the machine. We don't need drunks, ex-cons or life long politicians that only care about the next election.

'Obama Girl': Who are you voting for?
Various officials and residents looking at presidential choices for Super Tuesday

Ricardo Kaulessar
Reporter staff writer
01/27/2008

[...]Also endorsing a Republican is lifelong resident Guy Catrillo, an employee in the city's Planning Division.

Catrillo, a registered Republican since 1972, has set his sights on Giuliani for Super Tuesday.

"When he first became mayor in 1993, I thought he was a phony, but then I saw his heart was in trying to make change in New York City," Catrillo said. "I think Giuliani scares a lot of conservative Republicans with his moderate stances."

When asked if he has any thoughts of voting for another candidate on Feb. 5, Catrillo summed up his steadfast support with the following analogy: "When the Catholic Church had its problems, I didn't become a Presbyterian."

Healy unveils mayoral slate

By Matt Friedman, PolitickerNJ.com Reporter
http://www.politickernj.com/

Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, who?s seeking reelection this May, is revealing his council slate tonight at the Casino in the Park.

All but three of the council?s incumbents will run with Healy.

In Ward E ? the only seat held by a non-Healy ally, Steven Fulop ? the Mayor is putting up Guy Catrillo, a Republican who works for the city?s planning division and has run for legislative office several times. Catrillo?s late brother, Charles, served as a Republican assemblyman from Jersey City in the 1980s. Catrillo is president of the Dante Alighieri Society and the Historic Preservation Commission.

In Ward C, where incumbent Steve Lipski decided against seeking reelection after being arrested for allegedly urinating on a concert crowd from a balcony, businesswoman and community activist Nidia Rivera Lopez ? the wife of former Councilman Benjamin Lopez -- will run on Healy?s ticket

In Ward B, Phil Kenny, an ally of Freeholder Bill O?Dea who works as the , Office Operations Coordinator for the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders, replaces Mary Spinello.

All three at-large members ? Mariano Vega, Willie Flood and Peter Brennan ? will remain on the mayors slate, as will Michael Sottolano (Ward A), Bill Gaughan (Ward D) and Viola Richardson (Ward F).

Matt Friedman is a PolitickerNJ.com Reporter and can be reached via email at matt@politicsnj.com.
