Has anyone ever had a window mounted air conditioner serviced? Or do people just buy new ones. I have some of the mid -priced fredrich models about 5 years old
That I would prefer not throw away - let me know if you have any experience with this
I have called two air conditioner repair companies and both did not work with in window units

Re: Jersey City mayor-elect orders end to citywide reval

Thank you that makes sense

There's a reason those buildings appraised differently: to be rent controlled you have to be a commercial class property, and commercial properties are NOT appraised by COMPS, they are appraised by INCOME! So a property with fixed low rents, or for that matter one with both residential and commercial tenants, is valued proportionally to those rents, and NOT to the value of the overpriced 4 unit brownstone next door.

The reason for this is that a bank would never lend on a commercial income property with not enough income to cover it's expenses, and that keeps prices down. If a homeowner wants to waste their income on overpriced residential property and has the cash, the bank is OK with that.[/quote]

If the real estate taxes on a rent controlled apartment goes up, what percentage of the tax increase can the owner pass On to the renters?

regarding this particular case, it is insane given the following
Location and circumstances, busy store, busy street, daytime that there are no suspects
Currently there is an electronic sign asking for help
Cameras?
Did the police even interview people working in nearby stores?

How can I be assured that the driver doesn't have a criminal record ?

http://blog.uber.com/driverscreening

How can I be assured that the vehicle they have is safe ?

I don't see an uber specific car check, but the cars do have commercial insurance - I don't know if that involves an inspection

How can I be assured that the person I call via Uber is the same and not a bogus Uber that has jumped in ?

There is some protection against this as there is a picture of the driver sent to the user when a car is hired, but if the user is not paying attention someone could sneak in.

If I'm a passenger in an Uber car, will I be covered if seriously injured because the driver was negligent or not in an accident?

Has anyone heard anything about the future of this site?
The last thing on NJ.com was over a year ago.

http://www.nj.com/jjournal-news/index ... ys_montgomery_garden.html

The JC housing authority does not list any updates

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this area, this is what the buildings look like now - note the lowest two floors on each building are boarded up.

Congratulations Rich

I know you are not automatically installed in office, but here is something you may be able to help out on.

The Coptic church on Bergen is bursting to the seams on Sunday mornings. I've counted 50 some baby strollers parked on the side walk. When services let out there are 100+ people congregating on the sidewalk area and on the street. I fear that the mixture of 1. a ton of kids, 2. lots of cars stopping and picking people up and dropping them off 3. busy Bergen Ave; will lead to someone getting hit.

I'm not sure the best solution (cop to direct traffic, etc) but it is something that has bothered me for a while.

Anyway, onwards and upwards for Journal Square!

the Fulop fund raiser at the beer hall this week had 300-400 people, figure 10% of these people are just plain dumb... so there are 30-40 idiots running round supporting Fulop doing who knows what... realistically he is running a very clean campaign!
