lol...Oh man. You guys are just ridiculus sometimes...Shills?? Come on. Fact is, the Bayonne store is just a really great place, and I, too, am super glad to see it downtown.....Hopefully, it will be just as great!

Stopped in last night for the first time. Looked pretty basic and the pizza sitting out on the counter, unwarmed, didn't appear too appetizing, but I ordered an eggplant parm sandwich and, I must say, it was excellent, a cut or two above the norm. The eggplant slices were thick, juicy and flavorful, the bread fresh and chewy. $7, not bad at all.

I just finished eating half of a sandwich from there. I literally finished about 5 mins ago. It really was a great sandwich with lots of meat for a reasonable price. The gentlemen making the sandwich introduced himself to me and filled me in on their future plans. Hopefully we'll see a restaurant in our future.

The person I met was Tony and after we shook hands I was praying on the way home that the food was as good as my first impression of the business. Yes I did just eat a cold sandwich, but all the meat was freshly sliced, the provolone cheese was extra sharp and cut thick from the wedge, and the bread was good as well.

I'll probably head back sometime this weekend to order a regular meal, but so far things look good. I also told Tony about jclist. He told me that they should be on delivery.com soon.

I am very excited because (1) I rarely cook on a daily basis; (2) the prices seem reasonable; and (3) it looks like solid home cooked mom's Italian food fare. The Bayonne menu seems quite appetizing.

I'm honestly just glad to see a place like this in the area, that's all. Some people get really excited over food

Why does a very positive response about a restaurant or any business have to be a shill? Is it because there are so few positive comments about anything. It seems that nobody questions the motives of people when they write a negative post about a place...........and there are plenty of negative posts.

ANd I haven't seen the line out the door at the place in Bayonne either. But that's probably because the place is very big, but the place is always crowded at lunchtime.

And a friend of mine from BAyonne told me today that they make a great pasta fagioli.........can't wait to try it.

Easy... Obviously people seem to like this restaurant - I'm glad it's here and look forward to trying it.

But lighten up a bit and reread those first few posts... Even if they're 100% authentic and it's coincidental, tell me they don't they have that infomercial vibe (just-a-little-too-perky, just-a-little-too-info-packed...)

it had me picturing the posters wearing those brightly-colored Bill Cosby/infomercial sweaters

Their menu certainly looks good. I definitely plan to check them out. Does anyone remember when Downtown Eddie's Mixed Grill was here and you could get chicken marsala, garlic infused mashed potatoes, broccoli rabe and italian bread for $9.99 and their fried fish and chips and martinis half-priced on Wednesdays? Ah, the good ole' days.

Pret would be ideal for downtown but they are clearly NYC focused.

It's all becoming clear now. Tamard and heights and linky all spent months or years planning for this moment. They posted dozens or hundreds of times to create a carefully constructed image and reputation that would enable them to one day shill for Buon Appetito.

Or maybe they're just enthusiastic that a restaurant/deli they like is opening here. Lord knows we could use more quality places.

BTW much of Pret a Manger is owned by McDonalds. Hardly a non-corporate, locally owned shop..

Scooter/ Oturan

You guys are the joke! I have ZERO affiliation to Buon Appiteto except that I would frequent the location in Bayonne and was never disappointed plus they were always busy. Everyone cries that there are no "cheap" italian restauraunts in the area. Well now you have one.

Kill me because I like to eat! Probably 85% of my posts are about food and restaurants.

Oturan: what kind of multiple personality post did you have yesterday??? (see below) In the same post you say you don't want corporate coffee house types... and 3 lines later you say you wouldn't mind if a "Pret A Manager's" (sp?) opened up.

"I hate Starbucks! I haven't gone to one in 6-7 years. I hope more coffee houses sprout up hopefully not just the corporate types.

By the way Mrs. Fields coffee is a great deal better than Starbucks and cheaper. Also, the other day I tried Pret A Manager's coffee....it was amazing. I wouldn't mind them in the neigborhood."

This is the best deli in Bayonne and the lines do get long. They have great sauce and the cold cuts are delicious. The Bayonne location is exceptionally clean and the staff is fast and courteous.

Good luck Buon Appetito!

Yes the first few posts seem like shills. But I can tell you that I've eaten there and the food is really good. Its better than the previous places that have occupied that spot. The owner seems to be very serious about making the place a success.

it may be a great place - but not for nothing, those first few posts are definitively shills, they're almost comical.

Reminds me of those infomercials posing as talk shows..

I've been getting my Italian food from their Bayonne location for about 20 years - never a disappointment, either in food nor in service.

One complaint I have is that by Saturday their seafood salad is all celery and no seafood.

They make it fresh on Friday, and for the Friday customers it is "seafood-enriched", but on Saturday I just don't buy it because I don't feel like paying $8/lb for chopped leftover celery.

The first four comments are suspect? Who cares. They are just telling us of a new place that just opened and that there is another in Bayonne. Time will tell if they are good or not. Why do people think that they can say anything they want about a business (see the "Wild Fusion POISONS people" thread) but anybody associated with the place has no right to say anything? What if somebody writes that "this morons friend worked there and got fired so he's saying that this place has no line out the door and it's no good". Get a life.

The first 4 commenters seem overly enthusiastic no? I am familiar and have been to the Bayonne location. A friend used to work there. Their food is okay. I have never seen and my friend has never mentioned lines out the door. So the first 4 commenters are suspect.

I agree with the Wow! The store in bayonne around lunch time always has a line that extends out the door. Although I have never been to the restaurant side the deli side offers a variety of great food and the staff is very friendly. They will be very successful!

Woohoo! Woohoo! Woohoo! Love that place! Now I don't have to go out to Bayonne. Thank God - real food brought to you by people who know how to run a business.... Not another silly place.

They do fantastic catering as well. Gosh this news has really made my day.

WOW... that's really good news! The location in Bayonne is always packed. They make great italian deli sandwiches, good bread, salads & good prices... Hopefully this location will also sell soup, fresh containers of sauce and stock frozen specialty ravioli, gnocchi and other items.

A great new place recently opened at 345 Grove St. called Buon Appetito a good lunch stop. (it's the old Scent of Italy) They have tables inside and take out, they even have pizza. Hours are 9am till 10pm everyday. They are a half a block north of the Grove St. PATH station on the west side of the street. (201) 985-8200. Dinners are plentiful, the veal parm sandwich is tender & tasty. The eggplant, ziti, sausage & peppers looked appealing, also you can get sandwiches such as prosciutto, Genoa salami, and capicolla, adding provolone or mutz and some roasted peppers and you'll be filled to the gills. Below is the website link to their 43rd. St. Bayonne location. http://www.buonappetitoitalian.com/
