A potted plant for a garden apartment? Are you crazy? Foam would look much better.

Small window A/C units usually don't drip water now days. They hold it in a reservoir below the coils. The water evaporates, improving the efficiency.

Very suprising.

I'm more surprised that the OP is going with the foam suggestion as opposed to the string solution. The sting solution is simple, quick and INEXPENSIVE. in other words, a great solution. All it would take is a quick conversation with the neighbor to gain access to the unit, or for permission to approach it, and then attach a line of twine.

Yes, the large cell AC filter foam would work, and not get mildewy.

It doesn't matter what I put down on the garden level since the water is moving fast and makes a loud noise on concrete, plastic, etc.

Curious if others have dealt with this one...

A simple solution that has worked for me before is tying a long piece of string to the air conditioner so the water will flow down the string. It slows the water down and you shouldn't hear smacking sound anymore. But if the water is doing any kind of damage to your property, it's probably only a temporary fix.

I believe they also sell some kind of foam at Home Depot designed for this purpose, that you can put on the concrete to absorb the water and eliminate the noise. But your best bet is to talk to your neighbors and see if they can do something about the unit.

I seen hoses/tubing attached to divert the water so it will drip somewhere else, but I'm not aware of a specific gadget for the purpose. Maybe try home depot? Are your neighbors willing to cooperate with you on this project?
