Whatever you do though, don't mention dog poop in any replies on this message board, because your (currently) friendly JCList fans will turn on you in the blink of an eye!

SJ, so sorry bout the turd. Some guys suck. It's funny, I have several single 50ish friends who would be great and devoted boyfriends, but are so damn shy and a little neurotic so they are simply never in the game. I could easily have been them, I sucked at "picking up chicks". Thank god for the "paper personals", how I met my wife of 17 years, hands down the sanest person I've ever known. But I met plenty of crazies, so hang in there.

BTW, given your following here, perhaps you shouldn't announce your meeting places ahead of time, you sure don't want an audience!
But if this many people are interested, maybe a reality show? "Single and Silver" has a nice ring to it. :D

Dating has always been set up to be more disappointments than triumphs. You're looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. But don't give up! I got married last year to the best woman I've ever known at age 37. And I was convinced I'd be a bachelor for life.

Just checked into this thread for the first time. Wow. This gets my vote for best thread of the year on JC List! Silvery Jessica: I'm rooting for you, too. And it's comforting to know I wasn't the only one encountering total duds in online dating.

Tonight was awesome. GPs was great, the guy was great, cucumber rhubarb margarita was great, grilled octopus was great, so thanks for everything--hopefully we'll see each other again and I won't have to endure any more lying trolls.

You guys are hilarious. Thanks for all the good wishes. I met my husband on an online site, and while he wasn't a very good husband, he is certainly a relatively nice normal person in general, so I have confidence in this method overall. I am unused to this kind of bad luck, though!

Tonight's guy has been thoroughly vetted, and is local--one of you probably knows him, so the only thing I have to worry about is the usual "will we be repulsed by one another in person" thing.

I hate dating. Mail order husbands are looking better and better.

This is classic. I especially appreciate your transition from the Newport mansions to whorehouses, you sound like someone I'd hang out with. Sorry your date was an epic douche but thanks for sharing here, this is def. an entertaining thread (for a good reasons for once rather than troll histrionics).

What Brewster said: ha ha ha! I had a similar thought cross my mind, but in a more benign way. It occurred to me that some here (myself included?) may show up from time to time to watch the action unfold and provide encouragement.

Too bad the guy turned out to be a douche. Perhaps this next one works out better. I am glad and encouraged to see the eagerness and willingness in your part. Really good traits.

And, never forget: it's better to have a life of oh wells than a life of what ifs.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. God forbid. I think Tomorrow guy is fine. He's disclosed a ton of stuff about himself and has backed it up, so I feel good about him in terms of age/marital/where he lives/works, etc.

Asif, I'll keep you posted, LOL. Tomorrow was supposed to be a quick coffee but I get a non-toad vibe from him.

Not to rub it in after what you gone through....but i did mention grabbing a quick coffee....you save time and money....if the guy turns out to be a toad.

Perhaps his wife might like to know where he was this evening, if you have his address or home phone.

Have the GP's version of a Negroni to take the edge off tomorrow, you may need it if date 3 turns out like dates 1 and 2.

Nope. And this is after copious emails and phone conversations. He claims to be single. He should die.
