Sometimes the people on this board make me sick. I hate to think that my neighbors who appear to be so friendly are in reality so lacking in compassion.

You really need to jump in front of an express train if you want to off yourself quickly. the path train is really not the way to go.

I don't understand why they have to shut down the station and stop service for everyone. Why can't they push her off to the side, do what they have to do to take care of her, and let everyone else go on their way?

most of the comments on the JJ story give me hope about my fellow NJ citizens. there's actually a shred of compassion to be found in there.

A person driven to suicide is clearly not thinking about the consequences on other people's commute times... Its just possible she had bigger things on her mind.
I do agree that the train driver shouldn't have had to see this.

I am always surprised by the value people put on a human life. This didn't even happen at peak time. I hope she gets help and feels better.

"Sometimes I wonder if suicides aren't in fact sad guardians of the meaning of life."

Vaclav Havel

It's sad to see the lack of compassion......then again it is JCLIST.

so thats why newport station is closed and WTC-Hoboken is suspended and 33-JSQ is stopping in Hoboken first.

Thanks lady. Next time, just take a razor or a hose from a car. Thanks for making the last act of your life a big FU to thousands of people who never knew you

Seriously. Leave the rest of us out of your problems. Keep it in your bathroom, bedroom, or garage.

And I am more aware of suicidal depression than most.

You can call me insensitive but I'm with Subhasis and Crazy_Chester. No reason to inconvenience tens of thousands of people because you can no longer deal with life.

and being the a-hole who doesn't understand the scope of suicidal depression is a third thing.

"This is an unfortunate event, but it's very selfish for someone to choose this way to end their life and ruin everyone else's travel and commute plans for the afternoon," said Subhasis Setua, 30, of Jersey City.

wow. WOW. seriously? someone distraught enough to end her own life should be thinking about your afternoon plans?

yes, it's a drag to re-route your commute, but I'm guessing your day - missed lunch and all - still wasn't as bad as the jumper's.

(or the conductor's. it's them I really feel for when I hear about subway suicides.)

According to the Jersey Journal:

A young woman jumped in front of a PATH train at the Newport station in Jersey City this morning, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
