I don't think ANYONE would be surprised to read this. Unfortunately, the Buildings Department has been one of the top reasons why JC is having a hard time moving forward on all fronts. Even sadder is that Fulop ran on a platform that promised reforms to that department. Almost two years later, and still the same nonsense. Until we get fair, equal treatment when it comes to business permits and inspections, we will continue to see budding entrepreneurs getting the run around and fleeced.

Enough with the shenanigans. Rid the department of the corrupt inspectors and implement a fair process with clear guidelines to request and satisfy the inspection process.

The construction permit situation has caused a delay. No one is more anxious to get started than we are.

They are not opening Dec 1. Because of red tape they might not open until spring.

I am really bummed especially since i donated through kickstarter...........was so looking forward to this place.

Sorry to really bum you out! We'll see what we can do when we are open to help cheer you up! No one is more bummed than we are.

Another disappointing kickstarter. I want to contribute to so many of them but this is the reason I don't.

You're right, they were there as well! I didn't have a chance to have their food, but I heard it was very good.

They are still working on the restaurant just not happening as fast as they wanted because of permit issues. They will be at Project Market 12/6 and 12/7 in city hall plaza. Come and get a preview of the food to come at the restaurant.

Thanks all for coming out to JC Project Market. We had a blast, the turnout was awesome, and our food was well received. We are really anxious to get started, but it is out of our hands at this point. Although we entered 'obtaining permits' in the 'Project hurdles' section of our Kickstarter, we were hoping to be the exception to the 'construction permit rule'; alas, this is not the case.

I will check and update this thread with any significant updates; thanks for your patience!

Just pledged $25. My wife is a huge nut for Korean food (I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up buying your bottled kimchi on a weekly basis).

Ohhh, sorry you made the walk for a closed store.
Yes, 12/14 is when we anticipate opening! We have put in for permits and that is the longest part in the entire process.
We hope to be open on time, fingers crossed.
The Korean stews are even more delicious in the winter.

I am so happy to see Bibim Naeng Myun on the menu as it's one of my favorite dishes.

As a non-Korean who is used to ordering Korean food in Korean restaurants, could you be sure to put the transliterated name of each dish on your menu?

It's really helpful when ordering in a Korean restaurant, especially when you can't read Korean.

Simply seeing Kimbap, Sundubu Jjigae, Galbi, Bibimbap, etc. helps with ease in ordering as opposed to reading the English name and trying to determine the analogous Korean dish (which is what I am currently doing with your online menu).

In K-town, almost all restaurants feature the transliterated names of each dish, but it can be frustrating and more of a guessing game when the occasional restaurant doesn't do it (like they do at Pocha 32, for example).

Another question...

Will your menu be featuring Japchae?

The romanization is up now, so that should help.
As far as dishes not on the menu currently... if we find there is enough demand, we will surely incorporate them into our menu, seasonally, in the future.
Informal polls show that jap chae, nengmyun, mandu are reasonable suspects.

Thanks for the quick response and for adding the transliteration to the menu. It's very helpful!

I will definitely swing by for a meal once your kitchen is open for business. Thanks again!

As of right now, we are including kimchi with the entrees and a small soup with the kimbab (hand rolls).

Ok Asif, included in the possibles is tteokbokki, our favorite street food in Seoul. I was just there this past fall; even in a city of 10 million people, it seemed there were enough tteokbokki stands to feed them all...

Love supporting Jersey City entrepreneurs and small businesses :) I just realized that you can do a search by city on Kickstarter and see what other local projects are happening.

Thanks for the heads up, without pointing any of them out I have to say there are some real gems in there.
