Theyre at it again!

After a few days of relative quiet, and the neighborhood sort of getting back to normal...they were cranking up the sounds last wknd...and I heard from someone was around all day yesterday that the 'trash' "mom" or leader of this band of idiots decided to fling open her SUV doors and blast music for hours yesterday afternoon.

So, yes, outside of burning effigies...painting "Get Out" on their plastic white fence, what's the next course of action. The police have been contacted numerous times, and I am told have an ongoing record of the complaints.

I think they must be fans of the movie, "The Stupids" because they have no common sense, or brains for that matter.

Is the individual below, Paul Benson of Alpine Company, the same individual that owns the home? If not, my apologies. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of a follow up story here and there is no Paul Benson on a NJ Inmate search or in the Megan's Law database of offenders:

---------------------------------------------------------------

Kid porn charges against owner of Alpine Group construction firm
Thursday, 15 October 2009 22:07 Jerry DeMarco

The owner of a well-known North Jersey construction firm is now sitting in jail after investigators said they found him trafficking in kiddie porn. Paul Benson, owner of the Alpine Group, was arrested at his Woodcliff Lake home and charged with distributing child porn.

"In this case, the child pornography contained images and/or videos of pre-pubescent children engaged in sexual acts," said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.

Molinelli said his investigators worked closely with their counterparts from the Suffolk County Police Department on Long Island.

The prosecutor also cited several local departments that have provided officers to work with his Computer Crimes unit to track down cyberpredators and other criminals: Park Ridge, Ramsey, Ridgewood, Upper Saddle River, and, of course, Woodcliff Lake.

Benson, who is 42 and married, is being held on $100,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, pending a court appearance in Hackensack tomorrow morning.

Have some fun: the house is in Paul Bensen's name and not the name of his construction company Alpine. Both are based in NJ. Google them and see what comes up.

The owner of the house at 209 Bowers is Paul Benson. It is managed by a management company owned by him and his wife. I've tried several times to reason with them to no avail. The inconsiderate jerks that live in the house are ruining what is a good solid neighborhood. Unfortunately, the driveway is legal- I checked. (Caveat- It was granted because it was at the back of the house and not taking away any street parking. It is actually the side of the house and the variance could be challenged.) The building department is looking into the pool to determine if they pulled a permit. The lawsuit is coming next. I will pursue every legal option to stop an inconsiderate landlord and his obnoxious tenants from preventing an entire neighborhood from enjoying there own property and destroying the neighborhood. Big screen TV parties in the yard until AM and using an unregistered car in the yard to blast music day and night and attract all kinds of unsavory characters to the block is BS, plain and simple.

That is good to know. Hopefully something positive will result. I don't think anyone really wants to spend negative energy dealing with this situation unfortunately...but I think after so much time has passed...they have no clue...or even worse...care...how they are affecting their neighbors, the neighborhood, would-be tenants, and buyers, and most of all ...property values.

I wish you luck with whatever it is that you are doing, and will post here again if it starts up again.

I know this house. It's across the street from my mother in law. The lot that they're congregating in is actually the same lot as the house they live in. An elderly woman owned it for years but she was loosing her faculties and the city wound up condemming it.

Her family took care of all of the violations and I believe they sold it to a company named Alpine. They are the ones who cut the curb but their original plan was to tear that house down and build one like the one that's next door on Milton.

When the market went to hell, they decided to fix up the standing house and rent it "with a driveway" It's a real catch 22 because if they're parked in the driveway and you block them in, you can still be towed even though it's an illegal driveway.

For the driveway, you can call Herbie in zoning and ask to have the owner cited for an illegal driveway.

For the roudiness and noise, you need to call 547-5350. That's the direct line to the North District desk. Ask to speak with the shift commander and get his name. Trust me, I know this from personal experience. If you keep calling, the guys responding are going to get pissed and make an issue of it.

If you only call once or twice, nothing is going to happen.

You can also check the tax rolls online and you'll find out who owns it and can then harass the owner the way the tenants are harassing the neighborhood.

Anyone have any ideas?

I remember a similar scenario when we were kids - a couple of my uncles took a dozen eggs and "marinated" them in urine for a couple of days. They make for a very effective but non-lethal anti-nuisance device...

I would file a complaint in Municipal Court. I would also set up a meeting with the Police Captain of your ward and get his/her attention on this matter.

They were at it again this past weekend! On Saturday they set up tables, chairs, a pool, blasting music from the car, live congas...and a huge big-screen tv. I could not take the noise anymore and called the cops at 1:30 AM. By 3AM (and no sign of police...and no sign of sleep coming anytime soon)...I called the cops again. The police never came

Somewhere before 4AM I drifted off to sleep...to be awakened an hour later by the sounds of their friends drunkenly getting into their cars and driving away. Sunday it was the same all over again (sans large television) as the sounds of live congas, music blaring drove me nuts for hours...by nearly 9PM I shouted out of my window for them to turn it down or I will call the police.

Finally, it got quiet. So, now the police ignores the calls...what choice do we have? A few of the neighbors on Milton gathered on the street early Sunday and discussed options like calling the rental agency or landlord for the building...What's next...Arnold Diaz, the 'Shame On You' reporter for tv...not a bad idea.

Where does it say anything about throwing firecrackers AT toddlers?

How many more words can you twist?

Oh really...! The next time you bring a large flat screen tv into that lot...connect it to your crap audio system...and blast an HBO fight until the wee hours of the morning...I will report you to every local agency imaginable.

And, put up the pool again so the whole hood can see your fat ass family...and we'll put holes in that with a BB Gun.

Don't even get me started where you are openly selling pot in the open. And, that you owe money to all the local deli's because you are so poor you owe credit on your credit.

So, shut up, and move out of the neighborhood. People like you bring property values down, and make nice places ghettos.

And he should have been convicted with murder and not manslaughter. Well, if he spent $300K on defense attorneys I guess he was able to manipulate the court and jury appropriately. On that note, where does the parolee live, so I know not to venture into that neighborhood?

The morning of July 11th 2001 had to be the biggest funeral procession for a police officer I have ever seen. There were police departments from practically every state in the country. Cars and police officers were lined up around the block on Pavonia and Summit Avenues. Also apparently the self defense theory did not suffice in this case but murder did.

The "pipe" was for a basket ball net that was also on their property. This tool is made to adjust the height. People also focus on the fact names were engraved on it but it is common for people to engrave a tool incase it gets lost or stolen. This was a long time ago but from what I remember it started with the officers friend yelling and cursing out the kids and being drunk and aggresive. When one of the Gavina's tried to find out what was going on and come to see what was going on and come to the aide of the kids. The officers friend then attacked and later the officer got involved after it started after hearing the comotion and seeing his friend fighting. Now it is very possible the officer didn't know his friend started the fight but all the Gavinas knew was they were being attacked by two men larger then them after coming to the aide of the kids. It still doesn't justify what they did. They simply should have called the police when this was happening and stated that there was a rogue off-duty cop on the scene. I don't want to know anyone that carries around a lead pipe with their name engraved on it. They should not have hit the cop with it, even if he was drunk and attacking them. There were many people there that could have pulled the guy away, not hit him with a lead pipe.

Wherever Benjamin Gavina returned to after being released from prison, I hope he doesn't live near my neighborhood.

Time for some gardening !

A few bags of 'blood and bone' or 'fishy' fertilizer will do the trick in the right locations and the JCPA are always looking for 'easy' citations to write.

A possible reason for 'reserve' parking infront of their home, might mean they are doing something illegal, like selling drugs and they need space for their buyers !

Or old Jersey City style. Actually we are coming up on the 10 year anniversary of the murder of J.C. police officer Dominick Infantes. The off duty officer addressed his neighbors lighting off fireworks in a dangerous manner the end result was murder by the neighbors because they did not feel they should have been reprimanded.
http://www.odmp.org/officer/15727-pol ... er-domenick-j-infantes-jr

That's a sad story, and crazy that a jury would let them off easy like that. But not sure how it relates to my comment, are you illustrating the negative outcome of confronting these scumbags on ones own?

Even though Dominick was a cop he pretty much acted on his own probably not expecting the result he recieved. It seems it is better not to confront anyone that is acting out of line but to call the police and take them to court.
