I miss the Chinese- Spanish place where Wild Fusion is. Rotisserie chicken in Chinese Five Spice...I tried to replicate this weekend - not possible.

I miss *the original* HARD GROVE, in the Dominic Santana days. Cannot believe that space will now house a PNC Bank branch. So pathetic.
Also miss Newport Pancake House...Brownstone?s predecessor. None of the waitresses had a full set of teeth.

Legal Beans before they raised prices 25-100% and I stopped going. $1 for a pulled pork slider was attractive, $2 is not.

I miss the "It's Greek To Me" restaurant that came to Jersey City and was the first ever "It's Greek To Me" that failed. What JC got was a wise-ass guy who thought he knew better than all the other successful "It's Greek To Me" restaurants. It was the only one that went belly up because he didn't follow the IGTM protocol which was to always use fresh and delicious ingredients. What a huge disappointment that was. I know the guy still has another business in JC so I'd like to say, "Hey thanks for being such a big disappointment; you still suck".

No, but I did see Janis Joplin at the Stanley Theater at the Square.

Dating myself, but anyone remember the Casa Dante when it was on the first floor of the Dante Alighieri building on Summit Ave? And also Robinsons Steakhouse on Journal Square before the Path Plaza was built.

Satis has changed quite a bit over the past 2+ years. Once they got their liquor license, things started to change, and not necessarily for the best. Add to the subtle changes the sudden and very unfortunate loss of Balazs last year, and it hasn't been the same (for me, at least) in quite some time. I miss the old Satis! Maybe it is time to pay another visit soon, to see how things are now.

I miss Soul Flavors a lot. Everything on the menu was fantastic, and nothing in JC has the same kind of food at the same quality, as far as I can tell.

The Canton for Chinese food. A dark, smokey place right out of a Charlie Chan movie.

The Captain's Table down by Roosevelt Stadium. I had my first 'grown-up' dinner there - lobster. You looked out on the water while you dined.

Then there was Ducky's on Newark Ave. Italian & I had been told it was kind of a mob type place.

Greenspan's, a stone throw from the Canton for great Kosher.

These are the first four that pop up, giving me great memories.

+1 for Maggie's old Ale House. Wife and I met there 17 years ago.

The Western Diner where my Dad took me for a reward with good marks. The Hamburgers, fries , milk shakes were about as close to heaven as I could be. The Western was located next to the Palace Theater , that was located in the driveway space next to the Palace Drugs store.
