YEP!!... we've been sleeping with the bedroom window open and that tell-TAIL odor came wafting in this morning, so it was pretty intense around Jersey & 3rd. I took the dogs for their 5:20 walk and it seemed strongest between 4th and 3rd.

I noticed skunk-smell for the 1st time yesterday morning; it was most pronounced at Jersey between 4th and 5th then.

Feral cats, possum, now skunk...

Horse poop really isn't all that bad Because of the high grass content it tends to decompose much more quickly than dog poop. However, horsebackriders should be responsible for cleaning up after their mounts. Otherwise they will give us horse people a bad wrap (similar to what many dog owners in Jersey City have been subjected to).

That's because their treated as a mode of transportation and it's considered just a backfire.

last year or so, Hoboken added mounted police. Maybe he's got something to do with them. BTW, I don't know anything about boarding horses and what their needs are, but has anyone seen the "stable" where they're kept on Observer? One of the most depressing sights I've seen, a parking lot with some straw and a cyclone fence.

JrsyGrl-

You are quite right- Now that I stop to think about it I believe he said he trained cops horses out of a stable in Bayonne- I assumed it was for Bayonne PD but apparently that is not the case.

About a year ago, I was outside Madame Claude's chatting with Alice (owner). Across Newark Ave, near the school, we witnessed a white horse-drawn carriage carrying a couple on that side street by the school.

Surreal... but kind of cool. I have no idea how regular this occurance is.

I found this thread incredibly interesting. I have yet to see these mysterious riders but I am an equestrian myself and would love to join them, hehe. However, Bayonne does not have a mounted unit. Maybe he trained them in the past. I know they have not for atleast 20 years. Speaking of the stable in Bayonne, does anyone have any info on it? I see it everyday on the lightrail and always wondered about it.

Was she kind of a pinto looking girl? I wish I could remember her name, but she's stabled in Bayonne- The guy riding her, did he have the cowboy hat & boots?

I was outside the Ale House one night and we heard the unmistakable sound of hooves on pavement- Up they came, just the one horse & rider- He tied her off to the tree, went inside, had a Heineken or two & rode off. Said that he trains the horses for the Bayonne PD's mounted unit. Horse was an absolute doll, very calm, not concerned about cars whizzing by coming from the Tunnel.

I heard them pass Jersey and 5th twice last night - I've also saw two people on horseback a few Saturday mornings ago. Maybe the Lone Yuppie and his elderly aunt Tanta????

I've seen this since 1995 going down 9th street, not sure where they come from. My dog use to go bonkers (sp) at the window.

Yeah! I saw a guy on a horse ride down 8th street and trot around the park! Is this the new mode of transportation in JC?
