I neither claimed nor implied that anybody is lying. It is simply incorrect to say that, ?People are not opposed to legal immigration,? because there are people who most definitely ARE.

People who insist on thinking and speaking in absolutes about subjects that don?t work that way are bound to sabotage themselves. Don't blame me.

It is ironic you accuse me of having bad reading comprehension when yours is atrocious. I repeatedly stated that less American workers will benefit from President Trump's policies (due to cuts associated with automation), but plenty will anyway.

You misread this as me making some claim that less US manufacturing jobs were added in recent years than in the past. Take a look in the mirror before spouting off.

And here is your quote which carries the dishonest implication that American workers won't benefit due to Trump's great idea to mandate that only American steel can be used on the pipeline:

Quote:

Brewster wrote:

You do realize most American steel today is made in highly automated micro mills, not the behemoths that made Pittsburgh. Speaking of automation, it's predicted the greatest beneficiary of his domestic production agenda will be Chinese robot factories selling US producers automation to replace workers.

In fact, plenty of American workers are still needed for manufacturing jobs and plenty will benefit. Go Trump!

And nice try with your illegal immigrant crime stuff. Try reading the article again, because it also analyzes the crime stats from several states, explicitly explains how federal criminals are not representative of the US at large (most violent crimes are processed at the state level, which shows illegals commit violent crimes at a much greater rate than the native population), and discusses the difficulty in collecting state crime data.

If you learn anything from this conversation, please understand the difference between legal and illegal immigrants. I know it's hard because liberal politicians and the media have been deliberately conflating them for years, but honesty has finally broken through.

"The presidential administration of Donald Trump came up with a brilliant idea to pay for the Mexican border wall yesterday. Instead of having Mexicans pay for the wall, he?d have Americans pay for the wall, through a 20 percent border tax on imported goods. And wouldn?t you know it, a lot of cars are imported from Mexico.

We?ve taken the liberty to calculate just how much those cars will cost you with their shiny new 20 percent price bump, thanks to the new president and his wall.

Call this a thought exercise. No one is sure how exactly the Trump administration could implement such a tax, whether it would be per each imported good or overall somehow. But let?s assume it?s the former, so we?re calculated a 20 percent increase from the current base price of every vehicle.

It should be noted that almost immediately after news broke of the potential border tax, White House officials walked back their remarks, saying that paying for the wall this way was just, well, it was just one of a lot of options, okay? Via the New York Times:

But a furious uproar prompted Mr. Spicer to temper his earlier remarks, saying the plan was simply ?one idea? that might work to finance the wall. Mr. Spicer said it was not the job of the White House to ?roll something out? on tax policy, while Mr. Trump?s chief of staff, Reince Priebus, said the administration was considering ?a buffet of options.?
Either way it?s going to be an expensive buffet for someone. We should say that this isn?t a direct tax on consumers, but that?s likely how it will end up, as corporations don?t like to absorb costs. They always pass the savings?and the increased expenses?on to you. Either way, Trump?s whole ?Mexico will pay for the wall? was clearly a complete lie, as now you, Americans, will pay for the wall.

We should also say that a likely scenario for many of these cars, if this tax comes to pass, is that they will cease being sold in the United States. They tend to be small cars, which are unpopular at the moment anyway given how cheap gas is, and thus with a low profit margin. If you think Ford will bother selling the Fiesta here at all if the price goes up 20 percent, forget it.

?Oh ho ho,? you say. ?But now the companies will just bring the manufacturing into the United States, and the price will magically stay cheap!? Not so fast. Even if that sort of scenario does come to pass, which it won?t, new manufacturing facilities take time to build anew or build out. That fantasy is years out, at best.

I?ve got nothing against the American worker or American jobs. Hell, we?re all American workers with American jobs. But if you want to buy American, or have the big beautiful wall, you?re going to have to pay for it.

Your article contradicts your claim regarding who will be doing the American manufacturing here, though, being the NYT, they slanted the facts as best they could. The very quote you posted says that American manufacturers are far more productive using just two thirds as many workers.

I'll give you that 66% is not 100%, but it is still significant. Your claim that China will primarily benefit from increased American manufacturing may be true in 50 years but it certainly is not true today. So President Trump's attention to details no one has previously thought of will still tremendously benefit American workers (just not as many as in the past).

Your reading comprehension is low. They increased production 80% WHILE CUTTING THE WORKFORCE 33%! The didn't add only 2/3 the jobs they would otherwise as you believe.

Quote:

I would expect legal immigrants to commit far fewer crimes than natives, because they are grateful for the opportunity to come here and want to take advantage.

Actually, putting aside their crime of entering the US, illegal immigrants have far more incentive not to break criminal laws, they don't want to come up on law enforcement radar, since the repercussions can be catastrophic.

I could post more actual data, like this article http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/na ... ncisco-shooting/30159479/ but you don't care about facts, only what you want to believe from your reactionary sources making things up.

You're projecting, in addition to being dishonest with your American manufacturing claims.

You falsely implied that Trump's actions of ensuring American steel would be used on the Keystone pipeline would benefit China rather than American workers. Not only does this fly in the face of common sense, it is debunked by your very article.

Anyone who isn't a partisan Democrat would have a pretty easy time understanding that, although American manufacturers are producing more with less American workers, they still need plenty of American workers. Just not as much as before. So plenty of Americans are benefiting from Trump's actions.

Really isn't rocket science.

And you can't even admit that you were flat out wrong to claim: "the crime rate among illegal immigrants is actually lower than among legal residents."

Your only "proof" was a linked study that looked at the crime rates of ALL immigrants, including legal ones. Sorry, but this is not proof. Again, not rocket science. And FYI, the article you just linked does the same thing.

If you are actually interested in the truth, which I'm sure you're not, here is data on ILLEGAL immigrant crime rates. Maybe you'll learn the difference at some point.

I'm sorry but this is a laughably simplistic view of Trump's campaign.

If you want to understand a little better, this is one of the best articles I read explaining Trump's appeal that I read during the entire election cycle. It's entertaining too, and you may like it because it is highly critical of Republicans.

As for the rest of your post, Trump cares about taking care of Americans as his #1 national priority. Mexico has been taking advantage of us, and Trump is going to set things right. Of course they won't be too happy about it, at least not at first, but give it time.

He's being intentionally deceptive and arrogant, pretending to speak for someone's true motives.

He is pretending that the legions of Trump supporters who support legal immigration, like Trump himself who is married to one, are just lying about it.

And his gay marriage example is terrible. There are plenty of people who are against legal gay marriage and they are quite open about it. They don't feel a need to lie.

This smug arrogance is part of the reason his side lost though, so whatever.

I'll take President Trump misspeaking on how many people were shot and killed in Chicago during a speech (wait a few hours later . . .) vs President Obama telling us we'd have a family savings of $2,500/year on his 'signature' legislation-you know, the one where you could keep your plan and your doctor. Which was based on an annual 10% growth rate, when he never hit 3% in 8 years.

I haven't laughed this had since I saw Kelly Ann Conway wore the same dress as Yolandi from Die Antword.

Chicago has always been run by Democrats, it's entirely their problem

When is Trump going to stop lying about things that are easily provable? His latest is the claim the two people were fatally shot during Obama's farewell speech in Chicago. Transcript from his ABC interview is below.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, so far they have been unable. It?s been going on for years. And I wasn't president. So, look, when President Obama was there two weeks ago making a speech, very nice speech. Two people were shot and killed during his speech. You can't have that.

DAVID MUIR: Let me ask ...

PRESIDENT TRUMP: They weren't shot at the speech. But they were shot in the city of Chicago during his speech. What -- what's going on? So, all I'm saying is to the mayor who came up to my office recently -- I say, "You have to smarten up and you have to toughen up because you can't let that happen. That's a war zone."

DAVID MUIR: So, this is an "or else." This is a warning?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: I want them to straighten out the problem. It's a big problem.

But according to the Chicago PD, not only were there no fatalities on that day, but the shootings that did happen were not during the farewell speech.

I have heard the saying that his supporters take him serious but not literal, and his detractors take him literally but not serious. When is he going to grasp the fact the he is the President of the USA, and the words that come out his mouth not only carry a lot of weight, but he is speaking for the American public. The world at large is listening to what he is saying, taking what he says seriously. How can anything he says be trusted if all he does is continue to lie about whatever he wants. Especially things that are easily proved to be false?

As opposed to electing a community organizer from a city that's ruined financially, and has so many people being murdered the Feds are mulling stepping in to stop the carnage of minority residents?

As Farhad Manjoo writes, American manufacturers now produce over 80 percent more than they did in 1987, using just two-thirds as many workers. The reason is automation, and here, political browbeating comes up against the laws of economics ? robots are cheaper and often more efficient than people.

Farhad?s statistic looks over a 30-year period. That underplays more recent advances like cheap and abundant sensors, cloud-connected computing systems and better algorithms. All of those things mean that robots are getting better at a fast rate. Throw in artificial intelligence, and robots are even faster at doing ordinary human tasks. That?s why we now see factories with just a few workers and lots of machines. Even the cloud data centers that sometimes power the robots don?t need that many workers. They are usually located in rural areas, sometimes in the shells of old factories, but they are full of robots.

I know this is hopeless, since we live in a post fact world, but the crime rate among illegal immigrants is actually lower than among legal residents. FDR said it best about fear, but since he was a Democrat nothing he said could possibly make sense to you.

Is CATO right wing enough for you?

With few exceptions, immigrants are less crime prone than natives or have no effect on crime rates.

Entering the country without going through the necessary immigration checks and processes is in itself illegal and breaking the law. Never mind the additional laws broken by the subset of the illegal alien population who obtain phony identification documents, never mind the subset that commit crimes against people and property.

Silly article... as stated before people are not against LEGAL immigration.

China may also benefit from increased robot production and that's fine with me, as long as Trump puts us first, as he is.

And it's no secret that the standard Republican platform was to pay lip service to being against illegal immigration but not to take any real substantive measures to stop it. Because their donors wanted the illegal immigration for the cheap labor to boost their profits. Trump is not beholden to anyone, hence you finally see real action.

That Cato article you posted also does not say what you claim it does. It appears to deceitfully conflate the crimes of illegal immigrants with legal immigrants, simply stating the crime rate of "immigrants."

We all love legal immigrants, including Trump who is married to one. I would expect legal immigrants to commit far fewer crimes than natives, because they are grateful for the opportunity to come here and want to take advantage.

Illegals are the problem. So your link stands for nothing if the two were lumped together, as appears to be the case.

Low paying part time service jobs with no benefits and massive amounts of welfare is not a success. Plus we now have a new real estate bubble, but this time it's so bad that people are moving to JC not because of speculative investment like before, but because they can't afford anything else! Obama was brought to bring change to DC, he did none. Trump was brought to take on the special interest, his cabinet picks state otherwise.

Doubling the national debt, from $30,000 per household to over $60,000-while keeping interest rates artificially low-is that what you mean?

Unlike affordable healthcare, nobody is required by law to buy Mexican grown bibb lettuce or tomatoes. If the price increases we eat local gown produce. Probably healthier too.

A perfect example came in his executive order bringing back the Keystone pipeline. He stipulated that the pipe will only be back if it uses 100% American steel produced by American workers. This move alone will tremendously benefit many hard working people, and seems so obvious, yet apparently no one thought of the idea before him.

You do realize most American steel today is made in highly automated micro mills, not the behemoths that made Pittsburgh. Speaking of automation, it's predicted the greatest beneficiary of his domestic production agenda will be Chinese robot factories selling US producers automation to replace workers.
