To elaborate on your mention of Byzantium, far too little credit is given to the influence of the Islamic Golden Age, they were exploring math and science while the Church was keeping European princes at each others throats to consolidate their own power.

Sadly, pogroms and genocide will continue while we have folks like Yvonne in our global idiocracy.

At least I don't hide behind a phony name trashing someone. Actually, ISIS terrorists do the same thing, they cover their faces when speaking on video. So you and ISIS are cut from the same cloth with your phony name.

You want me to square up to you, and beat sense into you and your hubby? Like when you whipped kids in your catholic school for failing Catechism. You did that, right?

Have you travelled to Ireland? Visited St.Patrick's grave, stood in the ruins of Clonmacnoise, Monasterboise and Skellig? Let me guess - you read a book. Name one scientific achievement of the Irish of that period - that came anywhere close to matching the achievements of Rome or Greece? And the barbarians running around burning libraries in the dark ages? Most of those "barbarians" were Christian.

Dark ages? Are you kidding, universities were created in the so called Dark Ages by the Catholic Church. This is from a non Catholic source:

You didn't read the link did you. Let me summarize. The Catholic church stunted western scientific progress for 600-1000 years given it's preference for belief and dogma over reason.

You believe that there is too much blaming of other people. So instead of the Church getting the blame for not sending the pedophiles to jail and shuffling them around so they can rape boys and girls more, you'll blame an entire group of people that had nothing to do with it. Awesome!

If the Catholic Church was called Microsoft and Microsoft executives shuffled child rapers around, everybody would be buying Apple computers. Microsoft executives would go to jail. The company would be bankrupt.

Instead, you enable child rapers and those that protect the child rapers to continue raping children. How about you stop apologizing for a morally bankrupt organization?

Even if what you say is true, 90% is not 100%. You may have 90% Sanduskys in the priesthood but you also have 10% Donald Trumps in there. What do you propose to do about that? The female victims sometimes carry the double whammy effect of not only getting abused but also sometimes having to give birth to the children of their rapists. Do we just ignore that statistic?

You keep deflecting as if somehow sexual orientation is the crux of the problem when really it is the shoddy policing of the Church that ignores and even blames victims, and simply hides and moves the perps from the spotlight.

So if you don't let in gays into the priesthood (which, if you read about the history of the priesthood was exactly where gays were supposed to go) and you replace them with straight men, then all that will happen is that sexual abuse of little girls will make up a larger percentage of abuse cases. When it comes to child sex abuse, that isn't a sexual orientation issue. Both straight and gay people (though usually men in each case) do it. The real issue is the vow of celibacy, which is largely unsustainable for a huge number of people. If priests could date/marry you can bet sex abuse cases would plummet.

What? Sex with boys isn't something straight people do, homosexual sex is still sex, and homosexuality is just an additional "sin" per church doctrine, plus add pedophilia. In other words, if you want to think about it per doctrine, sex with little boys would be worse than sex with little girls, which is worse than sex with adult girls, which is worse than doing nothing. They pretty much did the worst thing they could possibly do.

I have no clue what you are referring to but according to a report done by people outside the church around 3% of the priests offend children. But like all people who offend, they have more than one victim. Years ago, a neighborhood cop said one person did 20 breakins, when he was caught the crime wave stopped. That analogy can be applied to priests who offend.

Sounds like you took this view straight from a Vatican publication. If you'd bother to research this issue you'd know that child molestation is seldom about sex it's about an adult exercising power over a helpless victim. But continue to live in your backward Catholic world.

No, according to many we do not choose our sexual orientation, if that is true, then it was gays who violated those children. You want to attack the church and when it is pointed out who violated the children then you want to attack the truth.

2 points:
First is total speculation, maybe the absurdity of celibacy attracts those trying to hide their gayness. "I have these gay urges which my church tells me are evil, so I'll become a celibate priest."

Second, no matter who committed these atrocious acts, the church has been covering them up for decades, perhaps centuries. And I'd bet my bottom dollar, that these issues aren't over.

I'll repeat and expound my original statement, I don't and society doesn't owe a damn thing to the Catholic Church.

It is the atheists fault that they keep raping kids.

No, it was gay men entering the priesthood who are raping kids. There was a report on the victims. They were basically boys. Since most people in church are basically, girls/women, it took effort to find the boys. If straight men were to violate their vows, they would rape girls/women. In order to clean up the church, no gay man should be allowed to enter the priesthood.
