666 Jersey Ave is one of my favorites, of the houses I don't live in. I might want to have an exorcist on speed dial if I lived there but I'd call that a small price to pay. If the resident is on JC List, cheers!

This isn?t accurate. Jersey City has a scene and one that, to some, is better than LIC. You can certainly disagree, but saying the JC has no ?scene? is just not remotely accurate.

About ten years ago, I was trying to coax my girlfriend (now wife) to move over to JC from Tribeca. We were out one spring afternoon, walking through Van Vorst park and for the first time she saw Jersey Ave. In mock horror, she said "Can you imagine having to write JERSEY avenue, JERSEY city, New JERSEY as your return address?"
Needless to say, she's gotten over it and enjoys the better things JC has to offer while learning to ignore the not-so-great. Of course - there are always things like the Easter Bunny brawl at Newport Mall to remind you where you are...

LIC will be even more fab when the new light rail connects to Bklyn, who would have thought ? Long Island City would turn for the better.

You live in Greenville - the only scene you're familiar with is a crime scene.

It definitely has a strong arts scene, provided it's your cup of tea. As far as dining and other conveniences go, its main selling point is close proximity to Greenpoint and Astoria. That price tag is pretty high for what they're getting. Especially for a commute dependent on the occasionally fickle WTC PATH and the frequently problematic E train. The E always has issues in bad weather. I swear it's redirected over the F line at least once a week during my daily commute.

Long Island City has a scene, Jersey City does not.

Gotta love how they increase their budget from $4,000/month to the low $5,000s, and their realtor immediately shows them an apartment listed at $6,295. The realtor could smell their stupidity from a mile away.

She's paying more in rent and taxes, and also a longer commute (which is not an easy one either).
I don't get that.

And here's exactly why JC is always cheaper than Queens or Brooklyn:
Quote: They preferred not to live in Jersey City. ?I felt, if we are going to move to New York, let?s pay a little bit more and be in New York,? she said. ?I really wanted to live in New York and check that off my bucket list.? They wanted a luxury living and a city view, so these morons move to LIC giving her a 45 minute commute instead of a 5 minute one. As I've said many times, the biggest price factor, bigger than the various tax and commute issues is: "I didn't move here from Podunk to live in JERSEY!" http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/20/rea ... .html?ref=realestate&_r=0
