JCOR- It's funny you mention that because I JUST started thinking about this today. Sandy was rough for sure- there was water damage to my building on the lower level (not sure how bad) and the management company tore out the carpet and replaced. I began thinking about the subflooring though, if it was wood maybe it is molding and there is some long term spore exposure occurring.
Good suggestion Quote:

Often times landlord just do cosmetics and not gut the place when it's water damaged. When Sandy hit that area was hit badly.
Definitely, get someone to check for molds in your building. ASAP.

this does smack of black mold, especially since your nabe got hit so hard by Sandy.
it's had time to start at water level and creep through your building. definitely worth getting it checked out. Quote:

If problem is only contained in your building, could it be mold related?
EDT: I would never drink tap water. I always drink bottled. If you've been drinking tap it could be one of the causes to your ailments. IMO Quote:

Thanks for this list. Negative for HIV and HEP. I will cross reference this list with mine, it's difficult as a lot of these symptoms are shared by eachother and the doctors I've seen haven't been extremely helpful. I've seen 5 at this point.
I'm trying not to harp on my neighbors having similar symptoms but, I do find it very odd. -We do not all own cats. 2 of us own dogs. - Not the same food source - Same water source not sure where from. Have stopped drinking the tap and switched to bottled 2 days ago. - We live in the same building, across the the hall and downstairs, close proximity. Quote:

I am certainly eating. I do not have the best appetite but, I eat 3 full meals a day still. It's as if I can't absorb nutrients. That's been a big focus of mine because it's pretty scary.

You've lost 8 pounds a week for the last 3 weeks. This to me, is VERY dramatic and trumps all the other symptoms. If you aren't exaggerating, any decent doctor should be alarmed by that alone. Are not eating? Are you not keeping it down? I'd focus on the weight loss aspect. To lose that much, you'd pretty much have to be not eating at all.

The best thing you can do for yourself is see a specialist. There are many very good Infectious Disease Doctors in Jersey City that will run tests based on your symptoms and travel history. vector borne and zoonotic diseases are usually part of the tests that are run.

I wouldn't try to play detective on your own. Sick building syndrome can be real or psychosomatic. Work with a good doctor. You can always ask them about possible environmental causes like lead, chromium, radon, mold, chlorine, ozone levels, air pollution - even wifi/cell towers if you like. What you shouldn't do is make yourself sicker with stress and worry. Stress alone could account for many of your symptoms.

These are the things you could have:
Tularemia F Infectious Mononucleosis Common Sinusitis Common Leptospirosis Lyme Disease Crohn's Disease Common Influenza Common Whipple Disease HIV/AIDS Brucellosis Dengue Fever Endocarditis F Babesiosis Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever F Erythema Multiforme West Nile Encephalitis F Rheumatic Fever Sarcoidosis Viral Hepatitis Common Microscopic Polyangiitis Lemierre's Syndrome F Reiter's Disease Toxoplasmosis Cytomegalovirus Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Common Myocarditis Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Coccidioidomycosis Hepatitis A Steven-Johnson Syndrome F Hepatitis B F Hepatitis C Human Granulocytic Anaplasmosis Q Fever Kikuchi Disease Cat-Scratch Disease Marshalls Syndrome Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Rat-Bite Fever Relapsing Polychondritis Now as you've said you're neighbors are having similar symptoms, you can narrow it done to environmental, parasitic, or non blood born. Do you all own cats? Do you all eat from the same source? Where is your water from? Are you all in the same building?

So you have finished a course of Doxycyline. We know now that you do not have.....
Acne Clamydia UTI Malaria Antrhax Gonorrhea Eye Infection Gum Disease Other maladies have been eliminated. Could it be you are suffering from Trollitis? It commonly affects some Listers with nothing better to do.

Lyme often does not show up on those tests. The CDC is WAY behind on Lyme. Unfortunately the well known LLMD types tend to charge hefty amounts for their services - often cash only, no insurance. That said, maybe you could find someone who knows a decent bit but isn't on the A list.
My guess is there is little Lyme around JC, but all you have to do is go the burbs or country and it is prevalent. It's also not just correlated to deer. Mice transmit the disease to the ticks and the ticks can hitch a ride on birds, rabbits, deer, raccoons etc. Obviously I hope you/others don't have Lyme but it is definitely one you want to research heavily. The medical community is not too good with Lyme...

How about vitamin levels? Big issue now is vitamin D deficiencies, in particular with Asian women.
My Mother had a major issue that the doctors kept diagnosing wrong. Turns out it was a B-12 deficiency, which was cheap and easy to fix. Quote:

Have you had a blood test? Was anything off? You can't easily make a diagnosis with basic blood tests, but it gives you a clue where to look. Even something seemingly unrelated and dismissed by your doctor can be researched online. Can't hurt.
I have yet to find a doctor who is willing to investigate. They make a guess, prescribe you some medicine, and send you off.

Don't limit your search to Lyme. It could be any number of things that a good internist can help you track down. For example:
RA Lupus Thyroid conditions Diabetes Crohns Gluten/lactose intolerance West Nile/Dengue Hep Lepto ...

Thanks guys! That's actual the current path I'm headed down... I have been Lyme tested but, did not qualify for CDC textbook Lyme Disease. I just finished a 2 week course of Doxycycline. I'm continuing to explore this as a major possibility and am seeking LLMD's in the region as my symptoms are still present. I know lyme can be hard to diagnosis in addition to other illness's mimickng is- things just seemed very odd that I've met others in the immediate area with my exact symptoms.

The ones below sound like a H Pylori infection (often misdiagnosed). Been traveling overseas recently (in particular to SE Asia)?
