I beg to differ. If we are hot stuff it's because both of the A&P locations in 07302 were sold off while many remained unsold. The old Pathmark will become an Asian market which will add to our selection of fresh vegetables and fish even for those who don't use Asian ingredients. Yup, us peeps are really cookin.

That being said, I was brought up being told: Eat to please yourself, dress to please others (Grandma Anna 1880- 1975). So don't understand the bad mouthing of what others choose to put in their mouth.

asian market in downtown jc really? that's awesome, do you know when they are opening?

I hated the drive to the supermarket on 440, decent place horrible location. This will make it much easier to get to if it's good like the ones in flushing.

There is a thread on it somewhere. They are replacing the old Pathmark in that Colony Hill complex. It might be the A&P thread. Not sure when they are opening.

Yes I don?t understand why people on JCList rip into businesses the way they do. Any business coming to JC is good business for JC.

That being said I unfortunately will never admit in writing on JCList that I love White Castle up on Newark Avenue and that I go there often. I will never forget the joy I had as a chubby little kid when it opened. Forget Mister ?S? and Astro Burger we had WC in walking distance.

PS - the rt 440 Pathmark is now an Acme ..so there.

They do have sushi, but it was almost all various crabmeat/salmon/spicy salmon/veggie rolls. The salmon varieties had so little fish that all I tasted was rice. Definitely don't go there for sushi lol. Tokyo Hibatchi in Secaucus has much better sushi variety for $15.

So i went for dinner...$13 a person.

The place was PACKED, we waited for 20 minutes before getting a seat.

The food is better than expected (for 13 bucks), they had a grill station where you can pick as much shrimp/steak etc..as you want and they will cook it for you. There are also about 4 different large islands of self serving hot/cold foods, all fresh, along with dessert / ice-cream. And finally a sushi island.

In term of seafood, there is steamed blue crabs which is surprisingly fresh and well done. Raw oyster - looked ok but i wasn't brave enough to try it. There is also crawfish, shrimp, and a few types of fish. All looked decent. No crab legs or lobster though, but for 13 bucks you can't complain.

If they keep the quality as it is, it's worth a visit to fulfill your guilty pleasures once a while.

You DTJC peeps think you are hot stuff with Newport Mall getting a Chick-fil-A and a Cheesecake Factory. Well I hope they are as successful as the newly opened Hibachi Grill down at Hudson Mall. Gee I walked by today (11/3) at 4:30 pm and it was packed. There were people in the entrance waiting to get in. I don?t even think they did too much advertising yet it?s been all word of mouth.

Sad note when I drive by the Fun Buffet at Danforth and rt 440 the parking lot seems empty. It used to get a decent crowd especially on Sunday for some reason.

To the people who brought up food poisoning at lowly buffet?s..?gee did you hear the news about Chipotle and E.coli ?

The food joints down the HM seem to always be busy. Of course Popeye?s is and the Pizza Parlor does good business. Maybe the Buffet patron?s started eating around 12 but just kept going. I could see myself doing that. Funny I just wanted to look in but the 2 very nice friendly hostess?s s told me to come in and gave me a tour. I am sure they and the other patrons thought I was a nut.

I walked by last Wednesday at around 3 pm. I went in for a look around without eating. The place had a nice crowd most of the tables were taken. Not that it matters but there were no ?old people? but I did see a young guy with a cane. As mentioned it is huge, decorated nicely, and the low lighting is perfect. It sort of reminded me of a modern version of old Journal Square Canton. I could not believe how much food they had at the many buffet bars. I will definitely go back for a meal or two or three.

I find it funny how so many people piss on the Hudson Mall and the area it is in. This is where the other 240,000 Jersey City citizens hang out. (come and join us we don't bite) The key is FREE and plentiful PARKING. The Buffet will be around for many years to come just like HM?s Applebee?s and Pizza Hut. Way beyond a two or four year lease period like in other parts of the city. ( I can never get a table in Applebee?s dang it!)

I think this good and not every place has to be hip and trendy or serve nouvelle cuisine in upscale setting. Let's hope we all grow old some day and can enjoy an early bird special at a place like this

When I was there, I haven't seen that many people inside Hudson mall outside of Popeye's. It's not just the seniors, its everyone, and Popeye's is certainly taking a hit.

I'm here and my first impression of the place is it's big. You have to pay first before being seated. It's not fully packed, but has good amount of people. There are numerous stations, and the hibachi grill towards the back. Didn't try it, since I'm already full after 2 rounds.

I recommend others check this place out.

If you look at the other NJ locations on Yelp, it appears that the food is mediocre and cheap, but not terrible. The staff is surly and apparently roaches have been spotted by a few Yelpers.

Cant wait to hear the reviews once some folks here try it. I may want to wait before rushing down to the mall...

Excellent news can?t wait to go to the HM to check it out. I always wondered why no one opened up a buffet down there after Fun Buffet II moved out. They were next to PC Richards and were in part of the old Two Guys buildings which were ripped down to make way for the new Lowes.
