Just curious how many people were trained as kids to sleep through noise with out it disturbing their sleep and if you have kids do you do it with them also?

I did the same thing my mom did when we were kids and my daughter can sleep through any normal city sounds with out being disturbed.

I actually remember as a kid not being able to sleep a few nights when I stayed with a relative in the suburbs for a week who tried to make us sleep in complete silence. The thing that saved me after a few sleepless nights was a Mockingbird that would mimic a car alarm in a tree near the window lol.

There were serious fireworks till past 11 in BeLa, notably Lafayette between Monitor and Pine. They should have shut it down a bit earlier, it seems they kept going off until they just ran out.

There were many more illegal fireworks going off in my Heights neighborhood yesterday. I know I can call the non-emergency police number or report via SeeClickFix, but could JC have an online reporting site dedicated to this issue around the 4th? (E.g., http://koin.com/2016/07/01/how-to-kee ... me-safe-around-fireworks/) Something else? I can't imagine how overwhelmed the police and fire departments are during this time of year.

It's one thing to set off ground-level fireworks, but fireworks launched into the air around a bunch of wood-framed houses (with children inside) really scares me:

Not sure what else to do to protect my and my neighbors' property.

Yeah the people at 2nd & Newark did this for over a week last year around July 4. Police came several times but door to building was locked and nobody would let them in (how is that even an excuse for police?) so the guys on the roof continued shooting off fireworks at all hours.

It definitely was the people at 262 Newark Ave. These are the same clowns who pulled this all of last July. I have called the cops numerous times however they claim they cannot access the building with the door being locked. The landlord of this building is absentee and clearly does not care who his tenants are--just look at the quality of the building as he has no shame or pride. These folks must have no jobs/lives or a sick sense of humor to be setting off fireworks at ash cans between 1-5 am. My family and pets have been terrorized enough. Last year I found the smoking remnants of their fireworks on my property---what if this had caused a fire? And for what--a cheap thrill? We must band together to stop this. Please call the non-emergency police at 201 547 5408.

If I was an old timer, I would simply say that this is yet more proof that all newcomers and interlopers are trying to ruin it for the rest of us. JC was AWESOME before you all showed up and brought rising prices and expectations of law and order. We were managing JUST FINE before you. And, seriously, why take away our harmless fun!? Sheesh.

I caught a guy shooting fireworks at all hours--leading up to and a couple days after the 4th--off the roof of 264 Newark Ave (MetroPCS on ground level). I called JCPD and they must've responded as I saw no further fireworks.

JCPD's non-emergency line is 201 547 5477

I've been hearing it too and I'm on 3rd & Newark but I face 4th. Super loud and late at night. I recently saw a post somewhere about how fireworks can effect people with PTSD including veterans. It just added another layer for me of wanting them to stop. Will the police be able to do anything if we do call?

Call the police, it is crazy people hanging out on the roof of the 4 story building at 160 Brunswick, right above the old Scatuorchio & Son Funeral Home.

This was crazy and woke me and Gayle.

Yes we hear them too and we are at 5th and Monmouth. Last night they went off after 11. It's fine on July 4 and over a weekend... But a Tues?

Are there any solutions to catching the idiots lighting fireworks all week? Seems they like to do them late at night which makes sleeping difficult. First one I heard a few weeks ago I mistaken for a gun shoot.

I hear them around Monmouth and 1st
