Morris Canal Park was the perfect location, not a huge crowd, just perfect. Was easy to move around. Got something to eat at 8:30 from the food trucks, settled in on the grass just off the water facing south .... could see the LSP firworks in front and Macy's to the left ... was amazing ....

Great job Jersey City and Mayor Fulop ....

We just took a bike ride through the park-hats off to whoever was in charge of cleaning up the mess, they did an amazing job!

ooh, we'll have to go there next year. we were just east of the Clydesdales (who didn't seem to enjoy the fireworks as much).

decent view, with the bonus of having that field all to ourselves.

Just got in! My daughter begged me to go back after the sun came out. So glad we did. Even with the long walk to/from the light rail, it was worth it for the great double show. The crowds were well behaved and spread out enough that it didn't feel overwhelming. The police and park rangers were great too! Great Job Major Fulop! Thanks!

The bridge was a brrrreeze!! The fireworks were AWESOME, I realized how lucky I was to take a spot on the rocks just south of the terminal. Thanks Mr Mayor for facilitating this!!

The double show was pretty amazing. Where we were, about 150 yds west of the north mortors, the Macy's were right behind ours so it looked like one show. I hope somebody got the money shot from Bayonne with the statue, Liberty Tower and all the fireworks.

Biked, the chokepoint at the bridge was not as bad as the last time we did it.

It was a great show!!! We could see both the New Jersey fireworks AND the East River show by Brooklyn Bridge.

We walked there and back from downtown, very orderly, crowded but it was moving all the time. There were police presence all along the way (actually keeping order, and working).

Very impressed! Great job Jersey City!!!

The question right now is the wind. If the wind is blowing at 20mph+, the fireworks will be delayed (according to media reports).

Later should be better. There's a concert this evening and the rain is supposed to stop before 9pm. We're going to try to catch the fireworks at the Warren Street marina if it is not too crowded.

I thought you can't have fireworks in the rain. Will they postpone if it rains?

Not really...There are about 8 rides total. A bunch of vendor food trucks. A character on stilts and Minnie Mouse. And the playground. My five year old had more fun at the playground until it started raining. If it was sunny/not raining - sure. But the weather is a real bummer.

@mndpacer04 - is it worth making the trip with the kids (in this weather)?

We went earlier today from 12 til 2 just have a look-see before the crowds later. The rides are not free. 1.25 per ticket or 22 tickets for $20. Each kiddie ride is 3-4 tickets per person.

I'm curious too - esp. if the rides are free. Can someone kindly post some updates?

I did notice on the map that there is a place marked "Carnival Tickets" - which makes me think one has to pay to ride/play?

Anyone there now with an update as to what's going on?
Are the rides free for the kids or how much does it cost? I plan on going in about an hour.

I think the 100,000 people is a bit exaggerated, but do keep in mind that they are expecting people not just from Hudson County, but also from towns outside our immediate area.

Also, as a minor quibble, seeing how the population of Hudson County is over 650,000 people, a total of 100,000 would only equal 15%, not a quarter (25%).

Surely there can't be 100,000 going.

Isn't the population of Jersey City about 300,000?
Are a quarter of the population of Hudson county really going to attend?

Robin.

Better be very, very careful. I hear the "gang" from Adams Street and Mallory Avenue will be there and you know how they are. You are truly a gutless wonder.

Yet to see a map but looking at these photos, the fireworks are set up just south of the terminal, the horses stables are close to one of the restaurants and the stage might be north of the terminal, not sure.

Yep that's exactly what it looks like. Fireworks in the field immediately south of the terminal, stage immediately north of the terminal beside the 9/11 memorial. Rides, horses around the parking lots in the general area of the terminal.
