river school is nice but usually waiting list. adventures in learning in hoboken is excellent, should be opening a jersey city location near exchange place any day now but keeps having delays with the opening because of stupid port authority (same building).

Yes I felt the same way. Someone else recommended Krispy pizza so I think it's worth a shot. If it doesn't measure up then we will be in the ironic position of being overloaded with pizza delivery joints with none of top quality (Razza isn't delivery).

Razza's is excellent but like you said, not deliverable plus it's pricey. What other brick oven pizza joints are in the downtown area? Krispy isn't one right?

I tried Rustique tonight, took hour and 10 minutes to get to my place. Mighty try just driving to pick it up next time, will be quicker. Pizza was an okay replacement. Still not as good as PHBOP though.

I don't know what needs to be done but SOMETHING has to be done. It's only going to get worse, the trains are going to be more packed with more residents moving in and will go down a lot more frequently.

and I'm sure once the "Sandy repairs/signal stuff" is done for the WTC line at the end of the year (yeah right), they will start doing that on the weekends for 33rd line next year. That will be even worse than it is now on the weekend.

I drive up to Orange County, NY 4 days out of the week and the way up is fine I think. I can get there hour and twenty. I leave at 6am, though the later you go the more cars are on the road.

The way home though, I avoid Rt 17 like the plague now and actually takes me quicker to get home if I take the palisades/US 9 S/Turnpike. Rt 17 southbound traffic (starting at ridgewood & westfield) plus RT 3./1&9 area is where I find the biggest problems right now when I go that way.

from TV, it looked like Goo Goo Dolls were lip syncing or singing over pre-recorded music. I did hear them soundchecking/or pre-recording the music on all day Sunday from my apt.

Last time I ordered from Rasoi, I ordered chicken tikka masala and there was 2 pieces of chicken in it. Delivery took well over an hour to get to me as well. Haven't been able to find a decent Indian food place in JC.

I used Gary Hoffman of http://www.74events.com/ for my wedding in last July. He's in Brooklyn but traveled up to Orange County NY for it so Northern NJ won't be a problem.

He was great and didn't play any of that crappy, cheesy stuff. Just played great mix of music, and will play what you want.

It would be nice to have a nice music venue in town. Something bigger than Maxwells but smaller than Roseland.

I'm fine with bands playing in bars/restaurants as long as they are good haha.

I started up a funny images tumblr page http://chrischristieeats.tumblr.com featuring our Governor Chris Christie called Chris Christie Eats... It's stupid & funny, at least to me. If you're bored at work and have a few minutes to kill, check it out!

(and yes I know, I have way too much time on my hands).

I could always use some ideas on what he can eat next, NJ-related things specifically.

Is this going to be blocking residents of Paulus Hook of getting out if they need to? Or just around 11am when the bike tour starts?

Tried the Turnpike to C Columbus Drive way. Got home in 2 hours. Still a headache haha. Just got to put up with the traffic or just come home a lot later on Friday night.

Re: Best way into JC?

Yeah, I've noticed whatever route I take, always gonna hit traffic going home. I've always hated Rt 17, but hate it even more now haha. Took that for a little bit before realizing the traffic around the mall is just irritating most nights, rather spend $1.35 on the Parkway then take that going home.

So taking the Turnpike on Friday nights isn't a smart choice? Turnpike or 1&9/139? I might want to take that to exit 14 and go to C Columbus Dr tonight. If I get home in less than 2 hours it will be a victory. I don't mind spending the tolls if the traffic is moving; I won't go insane as much.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Best way into JC?
#27

Not too shy to talk

I'm new to the area (live in Paulus Hook) and currently working in Orange County NY (until I can get something in the area). Last few weeks I've been trying different ways into Jersey City. I usually take Rt 17 or Parkway to Rt 3 to 1&9/139 way. Friday night traffic can be a nightmare, especially last week. Anyone have any other recommendations to getting into JC at rush hour?

What about taking Rt 80 to NJ Turnpike and either getting off at exit 15E way or go down by 78 and come into the city that way?
