I, for one, am horrified that this gentleman did not choose to grace JC with his presence. Can you imagine hanging around this bloke every day? Being his neighbor? Reading 1000 more articles that would help our city improve so very much? Our loss, totally.

But, I will be back in a week or two to grab one of those mythical burgers that so many consider to be the best in all of JC.

Not a good weekend to try any Irish bar-but when we went Saturday around 2pm (after my g/f and her daughter had facials at the Serenity Day Spa on Grand, thanks to Younique I think for the suggestion) there were only three other people at the bar.

Trolley Car Bar is really nice - I've been a number of times for food as well as drinks. The food is OK, but good mixed drinks and beer selection, friendly bar staff, and if you're looking for the "new" neighborhood (i.e., the crowd that doesn't favor 99 cent stores or laundromats advertising washers with a 50# capacity!), it's a fine place to go.

I wouldn't say its hip, by any stretch of the imagination. It would probably be one of several nice neighborhood places anywhere but the Heights...

What cool bar? The Corkscrew? ehhh...I think we're on our way but I don't think we've arrived yet. There's no sidewalk cafe or restaurant to go to for brunch or dinner. I'm hoping that the buildings alongside Mod Cup will be renovated into restaurants eventually now that the zoning is available for it. There's one place for sale 2 doors down...

It already is. They have the coffee shop, the farmer's market, activities in the park, cool bar, arts district, seedy eateries, and some really reasonalbe and amazing food choices, condo conversions and rental buildings, close access to public transportation, a younger, artsy, grungy crowd, and two bike shops with those that ride. I would say the Heights has arrived.

I think this list needs to differentiate between "hipster cool" and "hipster pretentious".

No one should strive to be like williamsburg...ever

The discussion has got to include ALL of JC, not just Downtown. That said my wife met a young couple recently who were Bushwick refugees and were THRILLED with their new home and neighborhood on Palisade, and considered it a major upgrade. I consider that a telling sign.

who cares if the hipsters know about or like Jersey City. All I know is that I am able to save a lot more than many of them and still get the convenience of being near Manhattan than many of them..

Sounds like someone who wasn't cool enough to be here. Like a fat kid who was cut from the basketball team.

+100 Prismatic

Whoever the 'too cool for Jersey City' jerk is, who cares? Obviously he/she/it didn't get the memo that Jersey City has to think you're cool, not vice versa.

And here's a 411 - Anyone who thinks they have to use foul, offensive language to be funny & cool is actually a sad little loser.

Just my opinion.

Exactly! We were sort of there in the 90's but the term Hipster became particularly prominent in the 2000s. So like I said earlier that ship has sailed. Its becoming more and more of bedroom community if anything.

No, it attracts the young and vibrant- hipsters aren't vibrant- they are a bunch of Midwestern trust fund babies who think poor is $5 donuts. JC not being on this list is a victory.

It's not an amiable to goal to make that list. In fact, I hope JC is trending away from it.

I doubt it, this town does not attract the young and vibrant any longer. That ship has sailed.
