Well, have you ever heard about how Cumans are not allowed to leave their island, making the whole country a prison? Have you ever heard about the the butcher of la caba?a? May be you are aware that Castro proposed to Khrushev that Soviets should start a thermonuclear war with the US and was ready to sacrifice Cuban people for the glorious revolution? They did teach you those things in the History 101 class in whatever school you did attend, oh the Most Clueful One?

This is called a "strawman argument", - you are trying to pretend I said something that you could easily argue against. But I didn't. My argument is, - sometimes the interests of the country may require we deal with an unsavory character. Like a prosecutor may cut a deal with a mafia guy - in order to get to an even bigger one. Or, you can supply weapons to Stalin in order to defeat Hitler. It doesn't mean that mafia guy, or Stalin is "our SOB", and your attempt to paint it this way is laughable. Anyways, sometimes there are reasons to deal with most horrible individuals, - but Mr. Obama didn't have that excuse when he decided to shake hands with the bloody commie. The way I see it, it was no different than shaking a hand of some Nazi, if one managed to survive. Quote:
One of the more famous Russian poets once wrote "But I?d rather choose a looter than a slayer. ". Of course, in translation it loses some.

Ah. The "He may be an SOB but he's our SOB" defense. All over the world we've supported kleptocratic scumbags, and then are shocked when they're overthrown, most recently Mubarak. The only surprise is more of these nations didn't become Stalinist.
The Saudis have PLENTY of blood on their hands, arguably including the Americans killed on 9/11, since the hijackers were all Saudis schooled in the fundamentalist Wahabist islam subsidized by the Saudi royal family. They have funded islamic violence all over the world. Quote:

There is a difference between a relatively mellow Despot and a commie murderer. Frankly, a comparison is downright offensive to anyone whose relatives were murdered by the commies. Or nazis for that matter since I see no moral difference between national-socialism and international-socialism. A Guevara Tshirt from my viewpoint is no different than one with Himmler or Dzerzhinsky. It is even more offensive since you must know about the difference. I mean you may not know the whole list of crimes of the Cuban regime, but you most definitely are aware that people there do not even have the basic freedom to leave. You must know that the whole Island is a prison, no? And yet you dare? Finally, there is a difference between something that a President has to do in his official capacity, for it is required for the sake of the nation and something that is done without any such justification. P.S. Sure, you may claim that having Saudi friendship is not that important, since the USA has its own huge oil reserves. And, from the strategic viewpoint, we have better friends in the region: we are friendly with Israel, and we helped Iraqis establish friendly democratic government, sure. But, on the other hand, Bush was a wise man and he may have thought, - "what if someone else screws it up? What if some other president after me ruins our relationships with Israel, screws it with the Iraqis, neglects the oil drilling and pipe building in the USA? Let's keep friends with the Saudis for now we may need them later!"

Of all the things to care about... Seriously, if a handshake is what sticks in your craw, just about anything will.
It's quite obvious some people just don't like the president or his political point of view on things. As such, no matter what he does, it will be critiqued as if he just ran a sword through a line of women and children in the middle of DC. The day politics ceases being about which "side" wins, the better off we all will be. I don't see that happening anytime soon, though.

Hero69 - you're missing the point - King Obama thinks he can wave his magic wand in the world and suddenly we have peace (he did win (err, deserve or even earn?) the Nobel Peace Prize) and all will be well. Well, look at his dismal failures in Libya (leading from behind), Benghazi (doing NOTHING so he would not risk the election while US officials were literally dying) and Iran - giving away the farm to a country that cannot be trusted, and oh, by the way, wants to destroy the US and Israel. It's easy to campaign and get up on the podium with great speeches and say how you're going to change the world (remember Hope and Change? what happened to that?) and another to actually ACCOMPLISH something. Need I go on?

Too bad its Shopped. And pretty obviously so. And Boris, one handshake is a long way from catching up to the long Bush family history of handjobs for the Saudi royal family of despots and racists.

Obama would shake hands with Hitler, Stalin & Mussolini if they were alive today - so he can have his "reset".
