Talde will likely do very well in downtown Jersey City. Has been one of my favorite NYC eateries for years.

You obviously don't venture out much. There are a lot of restaurants that charge that much (or $12-$15 for a cocktail) that are "no name" restaurants. Try eating a $15 burger.

$23 for fried chicken or not, the clientele in JC will appreciate this sort of restaurant and it will flourish.

I pretty much eat out for a living darling, but thanks for the dining economics . * * Like I said we shall see.

Agree with Seagull... At first the subject of this thread made me think it was fusion. But reading the articles, I think Italian refers to the purveyor market and Asian is the Talde restaurant.

Unless they're deviating from Talde Brooklyn, their menu isn't reflective of an Asian and Italian fusion, but who knows.

Hmmmm. Maybe we read different articles, or there's something I'm missing. I thought Talde Brooklyn was strictly Asian American. Check this article out:

http://ny.eater.com/tags/talde-jersey-city

"The new restaurant will inhabit a space that formerly housed a police station, and its neighbor will be a new Italian restaurant from Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri of HGTV's Kitchen Cousins."

so by "playing with ingredients" you think, what, they're going to be engaging in a rousing game of oregano tag with their neighbors? duck-duck-ginger?

it is strange that an Asian-Italian restaurant would set up shop right next door to a straight-up Italian joint, but that was my takeaway from the article.

Look forward to this restaurant.

After reading that article, I'm pretty sure the Asian fusion and the Italian restaurant will be separate businesses.

Talde, Bush, and Massoni to Open Talde Jersey City

eater.com
Friday, October 11, 2013, by Greg Morabito

Dale Talde, Dave Massoni, and John Bush are planning to open a location of their hit Park Slope restaurant Talde at 8 Erie St. in Downtown Jersey City. Massoni tells NJ.com: "The neighborhood was really the draw here in Jersey City....It just feels right and fits." The new restaurant will inhabit a space that formerly housed a police station, and its neighbor will be a new Italian restaurant from Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri of HGTV's Kitchen Cousins.

Talde notes: "You have to care about the food, it's really a craft....So combining these two types of food ? Asian and Italian ? gives us the opportunity to play with ingredients." Talde Jersey City will be the fourth restaurant owned and operated by Talde, Massoni, and Bush. It's slated to open next fall.

Don't fret. The bbq is still coming, only the location has changed. It'll probably end up on newark. So I hear from a lil' bird.

Ironically, there had been rumors of a BBQ restaurant in this very space on Erie, but I suppose that is no longer the case.

Everybody has high hopes for the Powerhouse, but I think it's going to be at least a decade before we see anything there at all.

This is great news. I can't wait until that building is finished. Now the only thing that is REALLY missing DTJC is an eat in BBQ restaurant (Dinosaur BBQ anyone?). Would be perfect in the powerhouse building. One can hope.

Talk about gentrification/moving up in the world.

Hey, maybe the market will be better than a Whole Foods

And for those who've wanted to be like western Brooklyn/much of Manhattan
