Yay! T-mobile is getting rid of roaming charges overseas and unlimited internet. I think I may need to go out and buy a better phone

I plan to switch to T-Mobile as soon as my AT&T contract is up. They have a no-contract plan that's $30 cheaper per month and has unlimited everything, instead of only 3GB/month data.

Before you switch, check to make sure you have service inside your apartment. Even in areas with a generally good signal certain buildings can have trouble. Other than my current place (where the walls are more than a foot thick), the only issues I ever had with T-Mobile were at ski slopes in Vermont.

I've traveled the country extensively, and generally found that T-Mobile worked everywhere AT&T had service. That might have changed after their merger was banned. Indoor service sucks though. You'll find that t-mobile just doesn't work inside many office buildings, malls, hospitals, etc. I carry a spare PAYG Verizon phone for that.

I've had T-Mobile for a few years. The service is fine locally, but hit-or-miss elsewhere. On the west coast, I'd have been better off with two cans and a string.

I live in Hamilton Park and have a very good T-Mobile signal. We have HSPA+ phones, not LTE . If you're in areas of no /poor signal, Wi-Fi calling can be used if you have a T-Mobile branded Android or BB phone. Very handy, for example if you're out of the country and need to make calls to or from the US:

Check out the coverage map. I've found it to be accurate:

I agree with Jessica, I have no problems anywhere in Jersey City, it's the rest of the USA I have issues with. No service in Upstate NY, sketchy service in Fairhaven MA, SUPER sketchy service after exit 58 on the GSP. It makes me crazy. The customer service has always been pretty good. I pay $127 a month for 2 phone lines with unlimited data and 1000 calling minutes.

I have T-Mobile and live in Harsimus Cove. I have had no problems here specifically, but there are a number of places in the general area where I get no service, the most annoying of which seems to be the Brooklyn Bridge area. As far as calling from home here in JC, I have no complaints. Don't even get me started about upstate--my friends with Verizon are texting and calling all over the Catskills but I am forced to listen to birds and look at trees and eagles and rivers and stuff. It's a blessing and a curse to have T-Mobile for that reason.

OP Here: I am specifically interested in feedback from folks who live in Hamilton Park or nearby downtown areas: Harsimus Cove, VVP, etc.

Could a few more people weigh in with feedback on T-Mobile service? I have AT&T, but am seriously thinking of switching to T-Mobile's far more economical plan which doesn't charge customers the "device subsidy."

they charge only for minutes + date + msg. You can bring your own device or choose to pay them over time and walk away at any time.

I'm getting ripped off. I'll be leaving Verizon in September.

I've been using T-Mobile for 12 year, no problem at all. 1050 anytime minutes, unlimited weekend and weekday night, 200mb data for $49.99 plus tax.

I'm on the 450 minute plan (no data) and pay around $57 after taxes.

How much is your bill? My Verizon bill is around 100.00 a month after taxes and fees. That seems very high to me. I was thinking of switching carriers when my contract is up in September.

Prices are a little high. I prefer T-Shell or T-Hess, but never T-Exxon.

Anyone using T-Mobile in JC? If so, how is your coverage?

Added the "e". Happy?
